When the message opens and begins to read, you might try typing the letter,
p, for paragraph. I find this to work for me in a lot of cases.

Hi Lenny,
If you have any script files in the Jaws 8 users folder, try disableing them
with the
manage application settings, from the options menu in the Jaws application
window.
And then try Outlook Express again.

Hello,
I just executed the automatic update to 8.0.2107. When I tried to use
outlook express I get an error when trying to create a new message or
forwarding a message.
When I enter control N I get an error unknown script to new and a similar
error message when attempting a forward.
I called support and was told to download the version and run that file
because something became corrupted.
I was told that when I would run this file I would get a message stating
that a version exists and I should select the repair option.
I was not presented with that choice. I was instructed to go to add/remove
and remove the program.
After I removed the 8.0 I ran the setup again. Well I still have the same
problem.
My serial number is 1247
Right now I went back to version 7.1

Hi Lenny,
Try this:
Re-enable the Outlook Express scripts, then go into the Jaws user folder.
Select the .jss file for Outlook Express, and hit enter.
The script manager should open, so when it does press control + S, to

Close the script manager, and then try Outlook Express again.

Becky...

Go to Tools...Under Tools, select Message rules.

There are 3 selections under this heading. One of the headings isBlocked

Select this choice and then you can unblock whomever you wish.

[JAWS-Users] Re: problem with J8.0.2107 and outlook express

2007-04-28 Thread Ricque

Hi Lenny,
You should be able to safely delete that file, since it is in the user
folder.
If you had other script changes you were useing in Outlook Express,
then just apply them to Outlook Express as would normally.
When you compile the script file with your changes the new file will be
placed in the user folder.
If you need any help, just sing out,

Hi Lenny,
Try this:
Re-enable the Outlook Express scripts, then go into the Jaws user folder.
Select the .jss file for Outlook Express, and hit enter.
The script manager should open, so when it does press control + S, to
re-compile the script.
Close the script manager, and then try Outlook Express again.

Hi Lenny,
If you have any script files in the Jaws 8 users folder, try disableing them
with the
manage application settings, from the options menu in the Jaws application

[JAWS-Users] the latest JAWS update?

2007-04-28 Thread Sherry Gomes

hi all,

I had unsubscribed from this list a while ago before a vacation and I've
just come back. I saw an announcement for an update to JAWS 8, and I wanted
to know how people like it. I've had so many problems with JAWS 8, as I
wrote about a few months ago, and I'm a little concerned about updating. on
the other hand, if it fixes the things that were causing problems, that
would be great. I didn't see much about fixing problems with IE6 in the
list of new things in this update. What do you all think of the update?

By the way, I have resubscribed two days ago but am not receiving any mail
yet, so I hope this does get through. it doesn't seem possible this list
hasn't had any mail in two days and right after an update.

thanks for any info on the update!

Sherry

2007-04-28 Thread Becky Buckner

Thanks so much David and Kathy for the unblock help.

Now I have another question about the updated JAWS. In Outlook Express, if
I use Control R to reply to a message, I am getting a script error. The
only way I can reply to a message is go down into the menus and enter on
reply to sender. That just popped up with the latest JAWS update. Has
anyone else had this happen?

[JAWS-Users] Editing problems

2007-04-28 Thread carlene knight

It's a minor anoyance, but does anybody know why JAWS suddenly stopped
anouncing the fact that I was cutting or copying? Those editing
functions still seem to work, but they're not anounced. I looked in
edit on the menu bar, and it says that almost all of those functions are
unavailable. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

It has been my experience that you can go into the folderws list and hit
the first letter of the folder you want, for instance, if you had a
folder called pets, you should be able to simply hit p and go to all of
the folders that start with that letter until you get to pet, saving you
the time it takes to arrow through that many folders.

You can also type the first few letters of the folder name.
In your example, you could rapidly type, p e t, and it will go to that

[JAWS-Users] Re: Skipping headers in Outlook Express

2007-04-28 Thread Denny Huff

Yes, that will jump past the headers, but I also use the letter p to bypass
a lot of stuff I don't want to read in some email messages.
For example, I get the Kim Kommando tip of the day and she has a lot of ads
before she gets to the tip, so I keep typing the letter p until I get to
that part of the newsletter.
Just a suggestion for some of your email messages.

Hi Denny, Thanks for your suggestion. However, David's instructions to use:
INSERT V and then Enter, in an open message, did the trick.
Thanks again anyway! Vicky

[JAWS-Users] Re: Creating Hot Keys

2007-04-28 Thread carlene knight

Hi:

I just replied to the wrong message, but I suppose the answer's about
the same. If you get into the list of folders you can press the first
letter of the name of the folder you would like. Your computer should
automatically jump to all of the folders starting with that letter. If
you had a folder called pets, you should be able to hit p and get to all
of the folders beginning with p. It's about as easy as any hot key
could be.

It's a minor anoyance, but does anybody know why JAWS suddenly stopped
anouncing the fact that I was cutting or copying? Those editing
functions still seem to work, but they're not anounced. I looked in

Sorry that I was so veague. I am using JFW 7.10 with Thunderbird, but
it happens in other applications as well. My verbosity was set on
beginner, but I chanced it to intermediate. It doesn't seem to matter

Were you sure that something was selected?
The reason I ask, is that some of those items are context sensitive.

2007-04-28 Thread Patti

Hey Mich,
What I had to do to get my clipboard working is unload Jaws, and then bring
it back on.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Editing problems

2007-04-28 Thread carlene knight

Hi Rick:

I noticed it about 2 weeks ago. The functions wouldn't work at all at
one point until I rebooted. Now they do work, but The ones that were
affected are now said to be unavailable, and JAWS won't speak them, I
have to cut and paste constantly when replying to messages, because I
forget that my program is set to bottom post, so the text is definitely
being selected. JAWS still says selected. Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Editing problems

2007-04-28 Thread carlene knight

Ssorry to post again, but I think I just found the problem. I hope and
pray that the situation doesn't change right after I post this. It
appears that the problem originated because I had a Word window up,
though I wasn't using it. I think that might be causing some other
problems I have been having with the email program, Thunderbird. There
seems to be a conflict with those two programs. I guess I can't use one
while the other is up. Like I said, I tend to overlook the answers.
The edit options are still supposedly unavailable though. I've got
talking options again, and they work fine. Thanks for everybody's ideas.

Hi Carlene,
How about minimizing Word to see if that makes a difference.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Editing problems

2007-04-28 Thread carlene knight

:

Hi:
Word was minimized earlier. I had to shut it down. When I tried to
reply to an email, JAWS acted like I was trying to type on a web page
without forms mode on. I knew that sometimes when a dialogue gbhox is
up in the background, it will interfeer in this way, so I decided to try
to shut Word down and see what happened. I don't know why it chose to
do that on top of the edit issue today. We just got a TBird update
right around the time the edit options problem started, come to think
of it. like the JFW upgrade, I think it's buggy. My husband who is
sighted is having some trouble with it too. I think it's time to
contact Mozilla. I'm getting long winded, but I do appreciate all of
your help.
