[JAWS-Users] Once nie thing about Freedom Scientific

2010-09-10 Thread chris hallsworth

Hello all.
No, I am not here to bash. I just want to comment on one very nice thing
that Freedom Scientific does.
They encourage absolutely anyone to download the latest JAWS version, or
even earlier JAWS versions if your computer will not work with the
latest for some reason. You simply download the full package and install
it. Without a license it will just run in 40 minute demonstration mode.

The same is true if anyone wants to try MAGic or OpenBook.
There you go. Comment finished.

Hi all.
When I use Outlook Express in my XP virtual machine with JAWS 12, I
don't recall experiencing this problem. This is the only JAWS I have on
my XP virtual machine currently. If anyone wants me to try it with
earlier versions please let me know.

Many thanks.

Hi list, have any of you tried to play ESPN's NFL pick'um game.
I found out that Jaws can not find the check boxes, I wrote ESPN and let
them know that if they could make their web site more accessible for the
blind, we would appreciate it very much. They said that they would work on

Good news, Yahoo sports supports Jaws, I am able to play both College and

I am able to find and use all the check boxes and every thing else on the
site.
Does any one know of any web sites for the play by play announcing of

Thanks for all the great information provided on this list.

[JAWS-Users] server protocols needed

If anybody knows the server protocols for the ISP

optonline.net

please let me know. I am in the middle of setting up a friend's email account

pop.optonline.net

since I had no idea what to use for sure and figured those were the most common
settings. When I left he had already downloaded over 1200 messages since he had

[JAWS-Users] Another great improvement in JAWS 12!

2010-09-10 Thread chris hallsworth

Hello all!
I have noticed that the groups pages on Yahoo works a lot better with
the JAWS 12 public beta. An example is when you manage the members on a
group. JAWS now says, remove member, as well as the check box, rather
than speaking spurious or no information together with the check box.

Well done FS! Keep up the great works!

[JAWS-Users] Figured it out!

Ok I figured out my voice profiles question, but I'm still left puzzled.

Apparently it does not allow me to alter, the language settings when I have

sure if that's by design or what, but that's what I've discovered.

Ok, can anybody else duplicate this? Don't know if this is a bug or just a

Using beta 12:

1. Bring up the Jaws Settings with insert-6.

2. Type in keyboard manager and open the keyboard manager.

3. Go to the key labels tab.

4. My list of keys is completely empty. Of course, the mute and change label
buttons are there, but I can't seem to select any keys in the list view.

2010-09-10 Thread Russ Hubley
Hi everyone,

A few days ago I wrote FS about using the existing real speak voices I had
installed with Jaws 11 with my Openbook 9. Here is their response.

Hope this helps,

Russ

Openbook 9

Setting up Real Speak Voices

1. Launch Openbook.

2. Press alt+g and down arrow to speech settings. Press enter.

3. Check the checkbox to apply settings to all voices.

4. Tab once to the Reading voice settings synthesizer.

5. Down arrow to RealSpeak voices.
6. Tab to Reading Voice settings name and down arrow to choose the voice.

7. Tab to reading voice settings rate and up or down arrow to adjust the
voice speed.

8. Tab to OK and press enter.

9. If you wish to save these settings, press alt+g and down arrow to save
the settings and press enter.

10. Press enter to save as default.

  11. You will be prompted to overwrite the default file. Tab to yes and
press enter. If no, tab to no and press enter.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Forms mode problem in O E

Hi all.
When I use Outlook Express in my XP virtual machine with JAWS 12, I don't
recall experiencing this problem. This is the only JAWS I have on my XP
virtual machine currently. If anyone wants me to try it with earlier
versions please let me know.

Many thanks.

When I'm typing a new message in Outlook Express, it sometimes suddenly
starts reading the whole message I was just typing and then the Forms
Mode goes on and off when I hit the space bar and Enter and left-click.
What is it that I accidentally hit when this happens?

TIA,
Nance

[JAWS-Users] laptop doesn't show on AC power

2010-09-10 Thread lmorris1953
My laptop is about four years old. Maybe that is the issue. However, in the
system tray instead of it saying on AC power it says 88 percent plugged in not
charging. This percentage keeps dropping. I tried unplugging the power chord to
let the battery run down and then plugging the power chord back in to charge
the battery but the percentage keeps dropping. What's going to happen when the
percentage get's to five percent or lower will the laptop still work when the
AC chord is plugged in?
