[JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 and Windows Live Mail 2009

2010-10-23 Thread chris hallsworth

Hello all.
I am having annoying issues with Thunderbird and JAWS 12, so wish to try
Windows Live Mail 2009 again. The annoying issue I have is that I end up
missing what could be important mail thanks to the virtual cursor not
updating correctly in Thunderbird.

What are your experiences using this program?
Would like to know please before I can go ahead and install it.
My main concern is does the virtual cursor work properly in this program?
Many thanks in advance for the feedback. It is much appreciated.

Hi,
Well, it was sort of neat though, off topic or not, and it shows
some of JAWS spunk. Who knew? And, to put this situation back on
topic, does
this could be a perfect example of this question of mine: how do
people make jaws and eSpeak do that? And the sound affects? It's
not the best example I've seen, but it's still pretty brilliant.

Hello Scorpio,

I use JAWS with ZoomText for some of my clients. We use ZoomText 9.1 and
JAWS 11 or 12. ZoomText needs to be started before JAWS. If JAWS is
running and ZoomText is started then ZoomText detects the presence of JAWS

After starting ZoomText, (if ZoomText with speech is being used), the speech
part of ZoomText can be disabled using the toggle keystroke of Alt+shift+S.
I have used JAWS with a few different configurations of ZoomText without any
problems. I have not used it for any higher magnification power than about
6X. We haven't really had any trouble with using varying cursor, focus,

Total Recorder does exactly that; allow you to record sound at the very

[JAWS-Users] computer braille and jaws v12

2010-10-23 Thread lmorris1953
Here is a short follow up to my comment regarding computer braille and jaws
v12. I downloaded the computer braille code from NBP (nmccs.brf which is free)
and if you want to write in computer braille you put your text starting with
dots 4-5-6 3-4-6; to Begin Computer Braille code and end your text with dots
4-5-6 1-5-6; to End Computer Braille code. My only issue so far is that I can
not make the @ sign with dot 4. When I type dot 4 on the focus it says graav
and not at. Anybody have a solution to the @ sign problem? Maybe FS could add
computer braille to the jaws insert 2 toggle keystroke in the future.

XP Home and JAWS 12.
I hear star when entering letters, but if there are stars already in
a password field they are not announced, as in when the password is
already there. I've mentioned this issue on this list before with no
forthcoming solution or suggestions. I've tried changing my

a punctuation mark. Sure would like to know how to solve this.

On the JAWS 12 podcast presented on Access World this past
Monday, Eric Damery mentioned that the cost of an SMA to
upgrade to the pro version of JAWS 12 if you have not kept
your SMA up to date is $400. That's almost half the price
of buying JAWS for the first time. Has FS always charged
this much to reactivate an out-of-date SMA, or has the price
increased? I bring this up because it would not seem to
make economic sense to upgrade to JAWS 12 unless you are
also upgrading to Windows 7.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws sluggishness and upgrading your pc

2010-10-23 Thread Betsy Whitney, Dolphin Press

Hi Troy,
It is my understanding that the speed of your processor can make a
difference, even if you add mor memory. I wasn't having sluggishness
issues on my XP Home computer, but when I had a major crash I did
upgrade the memory and now this thing flies. I would call tech support.

Hi all,
I'm one of the ones that has jaws slugglishness on my pc. tech
support thought it was a bug or spyware but I don't have any of
those. Today I read a message on the list about upgrading the
memmory on your pc. I did have the ram upgraded to 2 gb and having
the same issue, now how do I know what else to upgrade on this pc so
that I don't spend money on something that's not really needed. This
is a dell pc, win xp home. Not sure what type of processor I have or
anything like that.

Troy
