Re: [JAWS-Users] Transact SQL

2011-04-22 Thread Ann Marie Medlar

Hi Nancy,
I programmed on mainframe for about 20 years. I also data mined and loaded
key information into Oracle databases using native SQL. It has been many
years but I believe I wrote SQL code in TS O and submitted it to execute. I
remember that Oracle was the database and highly unfriendly so I used SQL to
query information. The front end of this decision support system was
written by consultants and I could navigate and create reports on PC with
Jaws and Windows 98 but I needed to mine the data to load info so top
management could make more informed decisions. Unsure what exactly Transact
SQL is but do you know where your databases reside, mainframe, server. Does
the mainframe talk to the server or is the mainframe being used as a big
server? My company totally migrated to PeopleSoft; I don't think they use
the mainframe anymore. I loved coding in Cobol, CICS, Adabas, Natural, DB2,
jCL and the like. I don't know any PC languages but I know that it would
make life more efficient if I learn to code to organize all my personal
information. I learn a little and then I don't use it so I lose it.
Learning SQL would enhance your career because SQL can be used on any
database and on any platform. I still remember how to code in Cobol and JCL
but I did not have many years using SQL.

Best of luck.
Ann

I have been asked to add Transact SQL to my skill set. When I last looked
at
SQL Server, it didn't look too friendly with JAWS, but that was a few
years
ago. What accessibility issues will I be facing if I try to accomplish
this

task? I would be expected to maintain and update several databases if I
succeed, and potentially use Transact SQL to accomplish various
programming

tasks.

Currently I program in COBOL on a mainframe, and am highly competitive for
speed and proficiency. Could I be competitive with SQL?

Thanks in advance.

Hello all!
Clicking the link bellow, you cand download Jaws 11.0 and all versions
Scripts for Yahoo Messenger 10.0.

These scripts are updated by Pontes IT Department, Romania.
Last update: 12 march 2010.

The messages in the instant window are read automatically by Jaws.
The alt + 1, 2, 3, ... 9 keystrokes work correctly.
The emoticons are spoken. The graphics were labeled one by one.
New keystroke added: control + shift + enter open the last address found in
the window. For instance, if someone send you a Youtube link, you press
control + shift + enter and the web browser will open the last link (URL)
vizible in current window..

Note:
If you use Yahoo Messenger 8, the scripts work like before, nothing changed
for this version, only emoticons are spoken and the keystroke Control +
Shift + Enter click the last link..
During the instalation you will be ask about version of JAWS that you use
with Yahoo, after, if the jaws is in another language than English, it is
necesary to choose it during the instalation, for instance, not ENU, but
ITA, HUN etc..

2011-04-22 Thread Nancy Feldman
Hi Ann Marie,

Unfortunately, SQL will not be used on the mainframe. It's used in our
enterprise environment, and I think it'll be accessed through SQL Server
2003.

Oh, I love mainframe programming. COBOL, CICS, JCL, all of it; and the
mainframe environment is very friendly.

I'm afraid that SQL Server is less so. I'll be able to use the latest
version of JAWS; I just don't know what to expect once I get there.

I will likely learn SQL in any case, because it will enhance my career, and
eventually we will move away from the mainframe.

Have a great day.

[JAWS-Users] email/JFW

2011-04-22 Thread Jorge Paez
Hi all:
2 quick questions.
First: I have a JFW demo that I'm going to be using till I get my J12 license
this Wednesday.
Can I simply put in the CD and validate the demo?

Also, I was used to outlook express on the PC on XP, and Outlook 2003 was very
unfriendly with J11.
Is there anything like Outlook Express for Win7?

Thanks,

Jorge

First: I have a JFW demo that I'm going to be using till I get my J12

Can I simply put in the CD and validate the demo?

Also, I was used to outlook express on the PC on XP, and Outlook 2003 was
 very unfriendly with J11.
Is there anything like Outlook Express for Win7?

 Thanks,

 Jorge

previous jaws 12 versionj12.0.525-32. Now that version no longer works

Honestly the script is same in Jaws11 as Jaws9. They are written by the
Jaws scripting team. I think when you downloaded
jetendra's scripts they most likely went into explore my settings rather
than shared settings. I googled

jetendra's name and many emails come up but I did not see anything on Yahoo.
I am unsure where he might store his scripts but maybe someone might know.

I could send you the scripts but I think they are the same as what you
have. Let me know soon because I am going out.

Hi Mitch,

valid or not but it might help you.

Hello all!
Clicking the link bellow, you cand download Jaws 11.0 and all
versions Scripts for Yahoo Messenger 10.0.

New keystroke added: control + shift + enter open the last address
found in the window. For instance, if someone send you a Youtube
link, you press control + shift +

2011-04-22 Thread James Flusche
Hi list, Happy Easter.

I hope someone can help me.

I have put the latest Jaws update on my vista computer and have installed IE9.

Using windows mail, when I now try to save my NFB newspaper attachments, when I
press ALT F. and down arrow, it says save attachments unavailable.

When I do a shift-tab while in the email, the attachments are there.

If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it.

Everything else is working very smoothly, especially IE9.

Thank you and God bless all of you and your families on this holiday weekend.

Honestly the script is same in Jaws11 as Jaws9. They are written by the
Jaws scripting team. I think when you downloaded
jetendra's scripts they most likely went into explore my settings rather
than shared settings. I googled

jetendra's name and many emails come up but I did not see anything on
Yahoo. I am unsure where he might store his scripts but maybe someone
might know.

I could send you the scripts but I think they are the same as what you
have. Let me know soon because I am going out.

Windows Live Messenger 2011 have been inaccessible up until now but
I've heard that it now is accessible with the latest build of JAWS 12
which is currently a release candidate.

Which means it is soon to be released.
I've not tried it yet myself though but I will as soon as possible.
I'm still using Windows Live Messenger 2009 which works ok.
I've tried InstantBird but dumped it quickly.
It worked ok but it's not even possible to change your display name...
But that may be fixed now.

How different or similar is it to wlm?
And, are there jaws scripts to make it more functional?

There was an update to messinger 2011 a week or so a go and that seem to

Having said that I cant be sure that it was that that fixed it, but the

Thanks Patty, I just went into a music folder and went through the steps and
a list.bat or txt file was within folder with all the names.
What I did in past was that I would highlight each song press f2 key copy to
clipboard

then repeat and append to clipboard to make a list of all songs.
This is how I made a list of songs that I would burn to a CD.
Much faster thanks.

[JAWS-Users] jaws in head phones

2011-04-22 Thread kimsan
Ok, I think my headset is busted but just for experimenting until I can
verify that they are broken how can I verify this?

Meaning: using windows 7 pro 64 bit is there somewhere I can go to have jaws
float from one ear to the other to see if I can hear it or not. I can only
hear it out of my left ear right now.

It feels weird, I can see out of my left eye and hear out of my left ear
with the headset and I am totally blind in my right eye and with the right
side of the headset with jfw not speaking, I feel like I have no hearing in
the right ear as well. Sorry for the stupid sarcasm, running off of 2-hours
of sleep lol.

Thanks guys for anyone who can help.

Play something in winamp. It will let you change control + alt +h, j,
k l, from left to right.

[JAWS-Users] thunderbird and latest jaws 12

2011-04-22 Thread Graham Smith

Ok, I have just tried thunderbird.

Bit early to say as yet but here are a few things I cannot get to work.

It wont read messages automatically, even when slected under verbosity.

Silence when deleting a message in the list, it does not
automatically read the next message in the list. Constantly having
to move up and down in list to get messages info announced.

I could not find an attached attachment within a message, not sure if
that was because it was taken out by program security or what.

Generally it looks pretty good and there is not a lot of unnecessary
info being announced all the time.

Anyone else taken a look yet? Any ideas on automatic reading?

Graham

Hello,

I use Jaws 12 and I would like to know the correct way to navigate iTunes.
Must I have someone sighted to sign me up? I cannot seem to get the focus on
the sign up page. I have never made a purchase on it before and it requests
that I set up an ID before I can do that but the F6 will only read the
sources pane and search box. Can someone help with directions? Please talk
to me like a novice.

Thanks,

Hi all:
Sorry I sound like a total beginer--I'm not really its just I haven't used a PC
for almost 3 years streight and the las Win version I used was XP--which is
radically different in layout.
First: how can I move my iTunes library over to my new PC if I'm using Windows
Media Player?
Also: what alternative music stores can I use that are accessible?

Thanks

 Hey David,
If you figure out how to make it work on windows 7 please send me the
 steps
 on putting it on?
I got it from a friend.
 Patti

Interesting, it's a simple batch file with a directory command encoded
in it is all. I will try it on windows 7 but looking at it my guess is
that it should work just fine. Personally I will probably change at
least one of the switches in the thing to show all of the file size
information ETC but it's just a choice. Where did it come from?

 Hey Mich,
Here is a little program I use.
I'll leave it in my drop box until tomorrow morning, so if you or
anyone else wants it get it out soon.
 It is called list bat
This is where you need to copy it to. I don't know if it will work on
windows 7, but it works fine on XP. If anyone figures it out on window
 7 please let me know.

 Installing

1, Copy the list bat to your clipboard

 2, Open my computer

3, Open up your C drive

4, Arrow down to documents and settings

 5, right arrow

7, arrow down to owner, or if it is your name

 8, press enter

9, arrow down to send to, and right arrow

 10, paste it in there

 11, Close everything

 Now

 List Bat steps

1, Select the folder you want to make a list in

 2, press the application key

3 Press the letter N, or arrow down to send submenu

4, Arrow down to list bat

 5, Press enter

6, Now the list is in that folder

 I hope this will help

Hi Mich,

Try installing/copying the script package to the Jaws 11 settings
directory,
as you did for the Jaws 7 directory, then re-start Jaws, and this
should fix

your problem.

Hope this helps.
