2013-11-15 Thread Fred Adams
I am using W7, IE 8 and latest jaws on a 64 bit computer and cannot upgrade
to IE 9 as I have tried many times. Is it possible to skip ie 9 and
install IE 10? I can install IE 9 64 bit version and jaws says it has been
installed and I must restart my computer. I restart my computer and bring
up the desktop and everything seems fine to this point but nothing works
after this. Restarting again does nothing. I will appreciate any info or
suggestions on this. Thanks much,

[JAWS-Users] BingBar / Search Providers In IE 9 10

2013-11-15 Thread Mike B.
Hi All,

There has been a discussion on removing / turning off the BingBar below
are some notes on changing your search provider that might help in stopping
Jaws from reporting BingBar or whatever it says when doing a search.

From: Roger Loran Bailey

Because of this thread and Gene's comments I just did something that I did
not know how to do and didn't even know that I wanted to do until now. I
changed
my own default search engine in Internet Explorer to Google. My default
search engine has been Bing ever since I got this Windows 7 computer, but I
prefer
Google. I handled the problem by just ignoring Bing and making Google my
home page. Because of this discussion I decided to check to see if I could
change
the default search. I went to tools and then to manage add ons. I then
arrowed down until I saw search engines. I tabbed and found Bing checked as
default.
By arrowing up and down I saw that there were other search engines and
Google was not one of them. So I continued to tab until I found a link
labeled search
for other search engines. I clicked that link and came to a Microsoft page
about add ons and at first I didn't think it had anything to do with search
engines, but down the page there was a link to search engines which I
clicked. I then got a list of search results and again Google was not one of
them.
Apparently Microsoft wants to make it hard for you to use Google. In
exasperation I pressed the E key to go to the only edit field on the page
and typed
in Google. Again I got a list of search results, but this time the first one
on the list was Google search. There was a link right after it for adding
it to Internet Explorer. I clicked it again and there was a page listing
some things about Google. By this time I was getting tired of the hoops I
was
jumping through, so I didn't read that material very closely and now I can't
really tell you what it said, but at the very bottom there was another link
offering to add Google to Internet Explorer. I clicked it again and a dialog
came up. Tabbing through it there were several check boxes to either check
or not to check and one of them was to make Google my default search engine.
I did check that and went through the rest of the dialog and click finish
or save or whatever it said at the end. I then just closed the browser and
opened it up again. I don't know if that was necessary, but that is how I
did
it. Then I check by pressing f6 for the address bar and, indeed, it showed
Google. I typed in a word off the top of my head and pressed enter and I got
a list of Google search results. So there is how to make Google your default
search engine in Internet Explorer. I would have done this a long time ago
if I had thought of it or even known where to look.

Yes--if you hit ALT+T for the Tools menu while in IE 10 and choose
Manage add-ons, you'll find a radio button for Search Providers.
Select this radio button and then TAB until you hear find more search
providers. Activate this link and you'll be taken to the Internet
Explorer gallery where you can find and add other search providers to
IE including Google. To add the Google search provider, activate the
Google link to bring up the information page and then choose Add to
internet explorer. You'll be prompted as to whether you want to make
this the default search provider.

External hard drives are much larger than thumb drives, you seldom see a
thumb drive over 128gb, but 3,000 gb external hard drives are available
for the same money. Get a usb3.0 drive, even if your computer is old,
you'll replace it eventually and the speed is nice.

Sometimes high volume domains like this particular one for example get
flagged as sources of Spam. I must admit when Bob and I started this out 8
years ago already we didn't expect it to still be up and running so
successfully at least in my opinion.

I own the domain until January 2015 at this point although I do have the
option to extend it.

That is up in the air right now, but we're good for 2014 at this point for
sure.

I sometimes have trouble deciding what tutorials are needed and that I can
do justice to the subject matter. The question came across the list last

afternoon or soon as possible I will begin work on the recording. Give it
until early or the middle of next week as these things take time to polish.
Oh yes I can do one in a relatively short period of time, it's the editing
process that takes the effort. Believe me if I didn't edit the things, well
let's just say it wouldn't be good.

Thank you for the idea who ever asked the question. I figure recording an

changed my own default search engine in Internet Explorer to Google. My
default search engine has been Bing ever since I got this Windows 7
computer, but I prefer Google. I handled the problem by just ignoring Bing
and making Google my home page. Because of this discussion I decided to
check to see if I could change the default search. I went to tools and then
to manage add ons. I then arrowed down until I saw search engines. I tabbed
and found Bing checked as default.
By arrowing up and down I saw that there were other search engines and
Google was not one of them. So I continued to tab until I found a link
labeled search for other search engines. I clicked that link and came to a
Microsoft page about add ons and at first I didn't think it had anything to
do with search engines, but down the page there was a link to search engines
which I clicked. I then got a list of search results and again Google was
not one of them.
Apparently Microsoft wants to make it hard for you to use Google. In
exasperation I pressed the E key to go to the only edit field on the page
and typed in Google. Again I got a list of search results, but this time the
first one on the list was Google search. There was a link right after it for
adding it to Internet Explorer. I clicked it again and there was a page
listing some things about Google. By this time I was getting tired of the
hoops I was jumping through, so I didn't read that material very closely and
now I can't really tell you what it said, but at the very bottom there was
another link offering to add Google to Internet Explorer. I clicked it again
and a dialog came up. Tabbing through it there were several check boxes to
either check or not to check and one of them was to make Google my default
search engine.
I did check that and went through the rest of the dialog and click finish or
save or whatever it said at the end. I then just closed the browser and
opened it up again. I don't know if that was necessary, but that is how I
did it. Then I check by pressing f6 for the address bar and, indeed, it
showed Google. I typed in a word off the top of my head and pressed enter
and I got a list of Google search results. So there is how to make Google
your default search engine in Internet Explorer. I would have done this a
long time ago if I had thought of it or even known where to look.

Yes--if you hit ALT+T for the Tools menu while in IE 10 and choose Manage
add-ons, you'll find a radio button for Search Providers.
Select this radio button and then TAB until you hear find more search
providers. Activate this link and you'll be taken to the Internet Explorer
gallery where you can find and add other search providers to IE including
Google. To add the Google search provider, activate the Google link to bring
up the information page and then choose Add to internet explorer. You'll be
prompted as to whether you want to make this the default search provider.

There is a way to turn off Google Instant permanently. On the Google home
page, scroll up from the search edit field to the Options link and hit
Enter. Scroll down to Search Settings and hit Enter again to access the
Search Settings page. Once you are on the Search Settings page, turn off
the virtual cursor by pressing JAWS key-Z. Then tab repeatedly until you
reach a series of three radio buttons for Google Instant, and arrow down to
the radio button labeled Never show instant results. If you tab to the
next field, you can increase the number of results per page if you wish by
pressing the right or left arrow keys to increase or decrease the number of
results per page, respectively. Then tab to the Okay button , press Space
and then press Enter when you are prompted to save the changes. Finally,
turn on the virtual cursor again by pressing JAWS key-Z. HTH

and typed in Google.

Go to the Internet Explorer Gallery
http://www.iegallery.com/en-us/addons?callback=truefeaturetype=2
and add a new search provider like Google for example. There's a link

provider. When you click on this link, check the Make this my default
search provider checkbox.

Search Settings page. Once you are on the Search Settings page, turn off
the virtual cursor by pressing JAWS key-Z. Then tab repeatedly until you
reach a series of three radio buttons for Google Instant, and arrow down to
the radio button labeled Never show instant results. If you tab to the

pressing the right or left arrow keys to increase or decrease the number of

turn on the virtual cursor again by pressing JAWS key-Z. HTH

Hi Arianna,
On my Win7 systems the same thing occurs,it's just that the start button, is
where Jaws is focused.
I am not sure that you can change that behavior, it seems to me that it is
Jaws, not the computer.
I just alt tab, and the Jaws window gains the focus, since it is not running
in the system tray.
In earlier versions of Windows and Jaws, if I put Jaws in the system tray,
the focus would go to the desktop.
Just to clear up any confusion, we are talking about the start button, not a
start screen.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] BingBar / Search Providers In IE 9 10

Roger

Yes--if you hit ALT+T for the Tools menu while in IE 10 and choose

Select this radio button and then TAB until you hear find more search

Google link to bring up the information page and then choose Add to

xp, though, it may not even support usb3. It would all depend on the
driver you could find for the card, even 7 needed drivers.

I am not sure that you can change that behavior, it seems to me that it is
Jaws, not the computer.
I just alt tab, and the Jaws window gains the focus, since it is not running

In earlier versions of Windows and Jaws, if I put Jaws in the system tray,

Truth is, you haven't needed to do that since xp. Both 7 and 8 are
smart enough to not cache external devices, just give them a minute
after you close the program that was using them in case the program
takes longer to close than you think and pull them.

God's River Of Life

Listen to the waterfall roar, what an awesome sound, as we stand along the
rivers shore.
Listen to God's still voice, he is our great shepard now and forever, let us
rejoice.
as a piece of drift wood, we float, down the river of life, we go like a boat.
His voice is like the current, sudden or swift, he leads you through all lifes
turns and twist.
You might sometimes drift, get back in the middle of God's will, where the
current is swift.
Watch out for the rapids, and the hidden stumps, or you could be overturned and
possibly sunk.
Beware of snags and snares, god can gently remove us, because he always cares.
Just flow with the current of God's love, knowing that he is looking down from

[JAWS-Users] Looking for how many days are left in the Antivirus

2013-11-15 Thread Jorge Rivas
Hello,

I am using XP Pro 32 bit, Office 2007 with AVG antivirus.

I'm running the 3 year AVG antivirus and I cannot remember when I first
installed it.

The date might be getting close on this Dell laptop.

When, I update it takes for ever and no done button sounds.

So, I run the update again and it does it again, then by the third time I
hear the done button.

And recently just started telling me after jaws comes on to press the
spacebar cause no antivirus is installed.

And this is not a antivirus balloon message to press the spacebar.

I don't want a blue screen surprise.

I been looking around the AVG menu, but I had no luck.

If, anyone knows how to figure how many days of antivirus are left, would be
great.

Thanks, in advance.

Jorge

as a piece of drift wood, we float, down the river of life, we go like a
boat.
His voice is like the current, sudden or swift, he leads you through all
lifes turns and twist.
You might sometimes drift, get back in the middle of God's will, where the
current is swift.
Watch out for the rapids, and the hidden stumps, or you could be overturned
and possibly sunk.
Beware of snags and snares, god can gently remove us, because he always
cares.
Just flow with the current of God's love, knowing that he is looking down
from heaven above.
