Necessity is the mother of invention.

I solved my own puzzle with a work around.

I focused on one of the 3 attachments that is not necessary. I went to the
Application key and there was an option there to remove. I did and then it
was routine to save the JPG photo.

Sorry to have bothered everyone.

Thanks, Erik. This makes only good sense and my computer time does seem to
be a couple minutes off from time to time. Unfortunately, I sync. My
computer time with my cuckoo clock at home to set it when the cuckoo is not
correct and when the computer is not either, then not good.
On another note, I once had an excellent program for a cuckoo clock to
sound appropriately when working on the computer. It was wonderful. Changing
computers, I lost that program.
Does anybody know what I am talking about and how I can get that program
again? That would be a terrific find.
Thanks for all information and your excellent description, Erik.

 Hello,
In the versionof Windows that you are running, this program is not at all
required anymore. Since Windows Vista, and possibly Windows XP, Windows has
a built-in NTP client. It runs in the background and will synch your clock
with a configured NTP server every 7 days or so. I'm not sure whether this
value can be changed in the Windows registry, because I know for a fact that
it is not available to be changed within the user interface. So, if you
like, you can do some searches on Google if you require mor accurate time.
For most people though, the ammount of drift a clock experiences is not at
all noticeable. Depending on how good your RTC chip is and the condition of
the CMOS battery in your system can greatly affect the ammount of drift that
you experience. The built-in NTP client on Windows may or may not calculate
drift and make very small adjustmenets to your realtime clock. This would
have the effect that your clock would have more accurate time over a longer
period of time that the daemon/service is running.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Cuckoo Clock program

On the contrary, the interface for changing the ntp settings or servers is
accessible. It's in the Date and Time dialog box on the Internet Time page.
There is a Settings... button.

I'm not sure whether this
value can be changed in the Windows registry, because I know for a fact
that it is not available to be changed within the user interface. So, if
you like, you can do some searches on Google if you require mor accurate
time. For most people though, the ammount of drift a clock experiences is
not at all noticeable. Depending on how good your RTC chip is and the
condition of the CMOS battery in your system can greatly affect the ammount
of drift that you experience. The built-in NTP client on Windows may or
may not calculate drift and make very small adjustmenets to your realtime
clock. This would have the effect that your clock would have more accurate
time over a longer period of time that the daemon/service is running.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Administrator of a computer

2014-02-17 Thread Liuda
Alana, I am checking settings. Does everyone have a Guest account in their
User Accounts section? I Have something reading that says, Guest account off
and there is a button to turn it off and on. Now, it is off, but is their a
guest account already established in my computer and it happens to be off
now or is the capability there to have a Guest account which is not
necessarily installed now and that capability to use such a Guest account is
off now? I am asking about a fine line bet2ween both of these options. I
shall look forward to your thoughts on this topic.
I did hear Liuda Administrator password protected which my computer is
presently however.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Liuda,
Go into control panel, then under user accounts. It should show what type of
account you have. To determine if the computer is in your name, you set this
up when you set the computer, being in your name means you are the main user
of the computer, I am not talking about who legally owns the computer.
When you press on your account you can press on change user type.

you have administrator rights to the computer, if it's registered in your
name then this is your rights to call the shots.
A computer can have multiple identies that is shared by other people, so
when you logged into your side of it, it's all your rights to whatever is
there, you should be able to remove programs and etc, unless somehow the
program in question you wish to remove is also admin to another user of your
computer, then both parties have to log in and remove it or make changes.
I'm not 100% sure about this, just guessing here, since a computer is
different from like a checking account with 2 people on the same account and
one can't make independent decisions without the other aware of it.

RJ,

Here are some notes I've saved, maybe they will help?

After activating the show results Button, you need to activate the
JAWS cursor and route the active cursor to the position of the PC
cursor. JAWS cursor will now be directed to exit button, Press either
Page up or control Home to move the JAWS cursor at the top portion of
the Malware bytes window.
Down arrow to the malicious items found, it shall sound like graphic
256 graphic 702 PUP.Riskware blab la bla, perform single left mouse
click by tapping NumPad (Slash). It will move the focus of the PC
cursor to the Maliscious items, you may now activate the PC cursor.
Press down arrow/up arroe to navigate with in the list and spacebar to
check/uncheck items. But unfortunately, for some reason, jaws will not
echo, the check/uncheck states of the item, visually all malicious
items found is uncheck by default, so pressing spacebar once will
hopefully check the item in focus. Check all items you would like to
remove and tab to the remove selected items button once finish.

Rick, this sounds picture perfect. I do everything perfectly, however when
the begins to uninstall, it stops and will not go further. A notice comes up
about User accounts dialogue, Unknown, notify yes or no and I should notify
yes to uninstall I assume. I do this but nothing goes further and it remain
stopped.
It seems to me I am not the owner on this computer or something is
stopping my operations because I cannot uninstall this program and I should
be able to do exactly like you state. I do not have the correct privileges
today for whatever reason, but I wish I knew how to change this wrong
designation somehow.
Have any ideas??? Thanks always for your help.
PS I think I will try the process once again because after a long period of
time it cancelled itself.

To uninstall a program:
1. Press the Windows key, and type the following in the search box:
add remove
On my systems, I get as far as typing add r, and add/remove programs pops
up. then press enter Alternatively, you can start typing:
programs and features
and press enter when it comes up.
2. When this opens it will present you with a list of installed programs,
which you can navigate with first-letter navigation if you wish.
3. Once the program you want to remove is selected, press the applications
key, and a menu will open, look for either uninstall, or uninstall/change,
and press enter.
4. Follow the prompts that are in this dialogue by using the tab key, and/or

I keep notes from messages of importance to the group. I need to uninstall a
program. I am using Win.7 and JAWS 12. For some reason, neither of these two
options works:

*Uninstalling a program

Once you are on the program you wish to uninstall, just press enter and
follow the instructions.

To do so, you must be on control panel, programs.

When I try this I get to the prompt which stops me from doing anything to
this program, least of all, uninstall it.

*Press application on the program you want to remove, then choose something
like uninstall / change.

In the Application menu of my system, there is no word close to change or
uninstall anywhere.

Can someone offer another idea which will hopefully work???

Thank you very much.

I'm guessing on that because I've tried to make myself the computer admin

you have administrator rights to the computer, if it's registered in your
name then this is your rights to call the shots.
I'm not 100% sure about this, just guessing here, since a computer is
different from like a checking account with 2 people on the same account and
one can't make independent decisions without the other aware of it.

you can be the admin Liuda, but it doesn't necessarily prevent someone from
knowing your passwords and looking at your files, maybe change them

Hello again. I really need to get this done. I enter on uninstall from the

User Accounts dialogue, Unknown When these notifications appear yes or no

If I press Yes, it does not continue. If I press No, it does not continue
the process either. Why is this dialogue coming up anyway?
If I try the process over, then it will not let me uninstall from the
beginning because it says nothing can be done until program is uninstalled
or changed. It's a Catch 22 because it will not uninstall the program
totally nor will it let me start over or anything else.
Why can computers be so complicated to get a simple process accomplished

options works:

*Uninstalling a program

Once you are on the program you wish to uninstall, just press enter and
follow the instructions.

To do so, you must be on control panel, programs.

When I try this I get to the prompt which stops me from doing anything to
this program, least of all, uninstall it.

*Press application on the program you want to remove, then choose something
like uninstall / change.

In the Application menu of my system, there is no word close to change or
uninstall anywhere.

Can someone offer another idea which will hopefully work???

Thank you very much.

  Hi Becky.
I've been using tapin radio for years and love it.

However, you are right about there being no documentation available.

I think I saw somewhere that the creator is visually impaired, though
you'd
think this would encourage him to provide better documentation.

In my settings there is a setting for "dark mode" [gag] that I think will,
in some way, make it work better with a screen reader.

You can press f1, and get a quick listing of shortcut keys; but you'd
better

pay attention because it reads them out in one big list.

When tapin comes up you are in an edit box. Type something in it, say "80s
rock" and tab to the search button and press enter. You are presented with
a

list of stations that have "80s rock" in their description somewhere. Hit
enter on one of them and you'll be rocking the night away.

There's a lot more to it than that. So, if you are interested, send me a
private message at rwile...@satx.rr.com and I'll see if I can help.

  Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Uninstalling a Program

2014-02-17 Thread Liuda

Hello again. I really need to get this done. I enter on uninstall from the
Applications menu. It begins to uninstall and then I hear and with the JAWS
cursor and find
User Accounts dialogue, Unknown When these notifications appear yes or no
button.
Why can computers be so complicated to get a simple process accomplished
when I am receiving such perfect directions?
What am I doing wrong or should I do now, since nothing can be done,
apparently???

Hi Becky.
I've been using tapin radio for years and love it.

However, you are right about there being no documentation available.

I think I saw somewhere that the creator is visually impaired, though you'd
think this would encourage him to provide better documentation.

In my settings there is a setting for "dark mode" [gag] that I think will,
in some way, make it work better with a screen reader.

You can press f1, and get a quick listing of shortcut keys; but you'd better

pay attention because it reads them out in one big list.

When tapin comes up you are in an edit box. Type something in it, say "80s
rock" and tab to the search button and press enter. You are presented with a

list of stations that have "80s rock" in their description somewhere. Hit
enter on one of them and you'll be rocking the night away.

There's a lot more to it than that. So, if you are interested, send me a
private message at rwile...@satx.rr.com and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] quarantine an email

2014-02-17 Thread anna vimini

Hi Angela,
thank you your information on blocking a sender is very helpful.
Re: [JAWS-Users] quarantine an email
Thunderbird does not have a block option that can be used from the menu
or toolbar, but it can be made to dispose of unwanted mails using
message filters.

Message filters operate on a per account basis, so it is important when
you first set up the filter to set it to act on the correct account. The
easiest
way to do this is select a message from a sender you wish to block and
choose Create a filter from message from the message menu. This will
open the filter
settings windows with the email address already inserted into the
filter. Name the filter. My preferred name is "block list". Simply
change the action
in the bottom half of the window to delete and you are all done. Save
the filter and next time that person sends you mail it will be deleted.

Message filter that you have created can be opened and edited by
selecting the message filters entry on the Tools menu. It is not
necessary to create an

individual filter for each address you want to block.
Now you have the block list filter, next time you want to block
someone you can add their address into the top of the filter by pressing
the plus button

and thus creating a new field to enter the new address to be deleted.
Ciao,
Angela from Italy

[JAWS-Users] quarantine an email

2014-02-17 Thread anna vimini

Hi Gerald,
thank you!
Re: [JAWS-Users] quarantine an email

A suspicious email message itself is harmless as long as you don't clik
on any links within the message or attempt to open an attachment. There
is no
need to "quarantine" a suspicious message like you would a virus because
you can simply delete it. Just this morning, I received a suspicious
message that
pretended to originate from Amazon.com warning me that my account had
been frozen, and that I should click on the link in the message to
"reactive it".
The misspelling of reactivate was a dead giveaway that this message was
bogus and most likely a phishing scam, and I forwarded it to Amazon so
that they

could investigate its source.

Because quarantining makes the file inaccessible, but it can be restored if

I don't use it, I'm fine with microsoft security.

However, I did a google search on qihoo 360 antivirus and found the
following site

http://www.360safe.com/

It appears that this company is a big company in China and is trying to make
a place in the world market.

I'm not sure how good it is, but a lot of rich folks--stock brokers
etc.--seem to like it.

Think I'll stick with microsoft antivirus right now.

 Hi Gerald,

I installed Qihoo 360 Internet Security, and as much as I can tell, it is
 very compatible with JAWS.

I tried a few things, and they are all very easy to do. It is as easy as
MSE, although I did not try the Sandbox feature.

I did not try to remove the software from my PC.

 HTH.

Have you actually installed and used Qihoo 360 Internet Security? How
does
it compare with MSE in terms of JAWS accessibility? I checked some of the
reviews of this anti-virus program, and it sounds like it may be a good
free
alternative to AVG and Avast, but how compatible is it with JAWS? And how
easy is it to remove if it doesn't work out?

 Gerald

Thanks.
Bob

I am using Windows 7 and JAWS 15. I wonder if anyone has tips on using
Tapin Radio. There seems to be no documentation on exactly how it works or
how to access its functions.

 Thanks for any help.

[JAWS-Users] Cuckoo Clock program

2014-02-17 Thread Liuda

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to use Dimension 4 Time Program

 Hello,
In the versionof Windows that you are running, this program is not at all
required anymore. Since Windows Vista, and possibly Windows XP, Windows has
a built-in NTP client. It runs in the background and will synch your clock
with a configured NTP server every 7 days or so. I'm not sure whether this
value can be changed in the Windows registry, because I know for a fact
that it is not available to be changed within the user interface. So, if
you like, you can do some searches on Google if you require mor accurate
