Re: [JAWS-Users] Hardware decTalk -- is it still usable?
Greg, Don't need one. Once you have it connected to USB via the adapter, it can be selected using JAWS. Go to JAWS/Utilities/Synthesizer and Braille Manager. Re: [JAWS-Users] auto update to windows 10
Hi, I am not sure you could have W10 automatically install because you have to do a few steps during the install process. Are you sure it is not the icon down by the clock in the system tray and also a screen may come up telling you about installing W10. So my next question is are you sure it installed W10? And if so how do you know it is using W10? Re: [JAWS-Users] Hardware DecTalk -- is it still usable?
The last few times I've installed Dectalk Express, I've needed to install no related software. There is no Dectalk software on my Win 7 machine, and the synthesizer works fine. Once you have the connector, just plug it in. then go to the JAWS synthesizer dialog to have it recognized. The default settings in that dialog (i.e., the com port, etc.) are correct and, at least in my case, created no conflict with other hardware. I'm using JAWS 17. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of ncboot...@gmail.com Sent: Wednesday, March 09, 2016 10:54 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Hardware decTalk -- is it still usable? Kimber the DecTalk is still usable. Do you have a DecTalk Express or a DecTalk USB? You can download the software. As of right now it only works up to Windows 7, no 10 yet. To make more memory available, close workbooks or programs you no longer need. . To free disk space, delete files you no longer need from the disk you are saving to." (end of quote) By the way, I have plenty of available memory and plenty of available disk space. I can launch Excel and create a new xlsx document, then I can save it, close it and open it again, but I tried opening some older Excel files and they won't open either. [JAWS-Users] Success! Trying to open an xlsx file in Windows 10 and JAWS 17
Hi list, Firstly, to answer Rick's question, I am using Office 2013. I finally had some success with this issue! A friend suggested that I check the Excel settings because Microsoft makes everything so secure these days. I went to Options under the File menu, then I went down to Trust Center and turned off "Protected view" for everything, ,but specifically for E-mail attachments and files from the Internet. Now, these files open properly. I only wish that Microsoft would give the proper error message instead of sending a bogus message about insufficient memory and disk space.
