[JAWS-Users] re how to get focus 40 blue to stop panning
Hi John, I am using the latest version of windows 10, jaws 18 and the focus 40 blue braille display version 5.71. The braille display user's guide that I have offers the following instructions: auto advance tobble on and off press the the left and right selector keys together that should turn off auto advance and stop the panning motion. I am not sure, but i believe that you would have to press those keys one more time to turn the auto advance feature back on. Let me know how it goes; I am still a novice when it comes to using the braille display, but, at least, I have a user's guide that i can refer to. Write me offline, if you wish, and maybe, we can help each other. take care, Jacques For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] need screen layout information to enter into safe mode using windows 7 home premium
Hello to Raaju: Your input about how jaws works during windows startup was very enlightening and thanks for mentioning the NVDA screen reader as well. I actually do have it installed on my windows 7 home premium computer for about a month now. Also, I would most be certainly be interested in obtaining the Enabling Audio in Safe Mode Registry File from you too, please. You can send it to my preferred e-mail address which is: jach...@hotmail.com. Thanks. [JAWS-Users] need screen layout information to enter into safe mode using windows 7 home premium
Hi Jorge, You were asking me why can't I scan for viruses from desktop? I use Microsoft Security Essentials and I find that the full scan process of this antivirus program is just too sluggish for my liking anyway. When you are in Safe Mode, if I understand this correctly, scanning for viruses in safe mode is much quicker. I would also like to add that Safe Mode is a good place to be if you are trying to rectify any problems you may be having on your computer. I know from experience that the technicians at the computer store, where I take my computer to for fixing, use safe mode to do their work. So here's a thought for all of you listers. For those of us, who are on limited financial income, if we knew how to go into safe mode at home, and even with sighted help, could fix our own computers ourselves and still have that computer store money in our pockets. Thanks again for your help. Take care, Jacques For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] need screen layout information to enter into safe mode using windows 7 home premium
Hi Listers: I want to get into Safe Mode to scan for viruses on my windows 7 home premium computer. I use jaws 11 but I understand that Jaws interferes with actions taken in Safe Mode so what do I need to do with my Jaws 11 program in this instance? Part two of safe mode question: What screen information does my untrained sighted helper has to look for, (while we are repeatedly pressing the function 8 key after having restarted the computer), which will tell us when we have arrived at the correct screen layout to appear to prepare us to go into safe mode? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Take care, Jacques For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

[JAWS-Users] popping down e-mail messages from outlook dot com to windows live mail issue
Hello Listers, I use outlook dot com as my e-mail client. I have a hotmail address. I also have Windows Live Mail installed on my computer and I have windows 7 Premium. I have trouble reading my writing in my outlook dot com messages when I compose them; I use jaws version 11. However, when I compose messages in Windows Live Mail, I am able to read my text in those messages. When I start up Windows Live Mail, it asks me for my username and password. I type in my hotmail address and password that I use for outlook dot com and my messages seem to come down to my computer. Question: Is this normal behaviour for Windows Live Mail, or do I need to contact my internet service provider to set up pop down settings in windows live mail to allow messages to come down from Outlook dot com? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Jacques For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] re my jaws 11 screen reader cannot read the text I have written in my message I am preparing to send in the new Windows Live Mail on the Outlook dot com web page dilemma
Hello again list members, Thanks Janie for your help but insert 2 doesn't seem to bring up the three options of all, none or highlighted however, I seem to remember that insert s happens to bring up those same three options. In any case, choosing the option highlight didn't seem to show any written text in my sending message. Thanks anyway but I am still looking for an answer somewhere. Any more suggestions would be great. Keep sending me more ideas and I will try them. Thanks. Jacques For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] re my jaws 11 screen reader cannot read the text I have written in my message I am preparing to send in the new windows live mail on the outlook dot com webpage dilemma
Hello List Members, Iam not able to check the presence of my text in my message I am composing because my jaws 11 reader reading commands don't find any text. I try using the arrow keys and all they say is blank everywhere. I apologize for any typos or spelling mistakes there may be in this message as I will not be able to proofread it after I am done with this message. Sighted people tell me that the writing can be seen on the screen but my jaws 11 can't find it. Any ideas or special jaws commands would be a great help. Incidentally, if I go to my sent box and open the message that I have sent, my jaws 11 program, for some reason, can read that message; so I am confused. Again, any and all helpful ideas or instructions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jacques For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] what is the name of an accessible and compatible medical transcription computer program with jaws
Hello listers, I am looking for an accessible medical transcription computer program that can be used with jaws; does anyone know of such a program. Maybe someone out there knows a blind medical transcriber and could find out for me what accessible medical trascription computer program they are using and with which jaws program. Perhaps, someone could then relay me the information. That would be great. I would need this info if I am going to possibly pursue a career in medical transcription.
