[JAWS-Users] How can I Read all copied in Wordpad?

2014-11-20 Thread Nancy Shackelford
I just copied the entire body of a message in Wordpad, and all it will let me
read is a link at the end of the message. The whole thing did get copied; I can
route JAWS to PC and tell that. There is no JAWS help topic for Wordpad. I'd
like to send this to some people but want to know they can read it before I do.

When I try to get on Facebook, the site keeps navigating, navigating,

[JAWS-Users] Message Rule in Outlook Express

2013-02-09 Thread Nancy Shackelford
I have set up a message rule, but it is not working. Rule and Description is:
Where the From line contains
Allrecipes Daily Dish em...@allrecipes.com

checked. Then, I have it moved to the specified folder, which is Recipes, and I
applied it to the Inbox folder. When I try this with that From line, it does
not apply the rule. What's the problem?

I suspect that the text in the from field is not appearing exactly as you
say it should in the rule. If you're off by even 1 character, the rule
won't work. Try to find the smallest, most reliable identifying chunk of
text that will identify the messages you want

For example, if the word allrecipes is unique to your desired messages,
then just use that little piece in the rule. check one of the messages
with the jaws cursor to get the exact spelling and spacing.

I am now in the position to record a tutorial demonstrating how you can
record your voice and your screen reader of choice presumably JAWS in this
case on both XP and Windows 7.

So those of you who have expressed an interest in finding out how that is
done may get an insiders' look so to speak.

I just upgraded this lap top which I have done many of my tutorials on
from

XP to 7 Ultimate and I can still record in the same manner as before.

Open the Tools menu with Alt T.
Arrow up once and hit Enter on Options.
Once there, it'll land on Checked when starting go directly to my inbox.
Shift-tab once and you should hear General Tab.

When you're on General tab, right-arrow till you hear Signatures tab.
Tab once, and you should hear, Add signatures to all outgoing messages.
Make sure that's checked. Tab again, and you'll hear Don't add signatures
to replies and forwards I have that one unchecked but that's up to you...
Next thing when you tab once is where your signature list will be, whether
you have only 1 or however many. Tab again and it will say NewButtn alt+N.
Just hit Enter on that and follow the instructions by typing your signature
as you want it to appear at the end of every message. After you have typed
it in, tab once and you hear SetAsDefaltButton. Do that if you want. Tab
again and there's the AdvancedButton, then tab to OK and hit Enter. Then, I
believe it takes you plum out of that option. So to check your signature,
hit Alt T for tools, arrow up to Options and hit Enter, Make sure you are on
General tab, right-arrow to the Signatures tab, tab till you get to the
Signatures list view and your signature will be there.

Not such a dumb question...
Since that link is too long just to click or hit Enter on, highlight the
whole link and then go on Internet Explorer or whatever browser you use and
then hit File and Open, then paste that link in the address bar that just
came up and hit OK. Short way for that is Control Plus O and then paste in
the link...

the slash key is 3rd from left top row
this is also associated to mouse over..

Use the key strokes, (CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH) for Drag and Drop . This
is
used to drag items from one location and drop them in another. Position
the

JAWS Cursor on the item you wish to move and press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD
SLASH. You can leave the JAWS Cursor active, or you can switch to the PC
Cursor. JAWS will keep speaking as you navigate. Once you have positioned
the JAWS or PC Cursor in the location to which you would like to move the
item, press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH again, and the item will be moved to
the position of the active cursor.

Re: [JAWS-Users] System Tray

2010-09-11 Thread Nancy Shackelford
I simply uncheck the box that says HideInactive, that way I know what's
running. Some things I don't want to run, but it will come on when you start
up, even reverts back after you take it out of the start page. My quickTime
has a nasty habit of doing this; also I must log out of the VPN client when
I get off work, and I found out that it does not show in the system tray
when HideiInactive is checked.

... Just a thought.

Hi Jenny;

Try the following.
From: Dana S. Leslie
dsles...@alumni.princeton.edu
If you are using Windows Xp, here is what you do:
Press the Windows Key then press escape to be in an empty Taskbar, press
the

applications key / right click to open the context menu, arrow to
properties, and press enter. This will take you
to the Taskbar properties dialogue. The Notification Area Hide inactive
icons checkbox must be checked for the next step to work. Press alt +
C,

for Notification Area Customize..., this opens a list of all
the icons that can appear in the system tray. Scroll down the list till
you

find the one you're interested in. Press right arrow, and you will be in a
drop down that offers three choices: Hide when Inactive, Never Show, and
Always show. Select Always Show, and left arrow. Press Enter twice, to
save

your changes, and exit.

HOWEVER, I have found that, even though you set a particular icon to
Always
Show, some icons have a nasty habit of reverting to Hide When Inactive
(the

default), for no reason I have been able to ascertain. If this is the case
with the icon you are concerned with, you will simply have to continually
reset it. I don't know of any way around this apparent. bug.

Hi Chris

When I Alt Enter System Tray properties comes up on the general page, but
there are only two options and Hide icons is not there. I tried to
control

tab to another page but it looks like there isn't one. Any other ideas?

I have Jaws 11 and XP Pro, and this seems to be the first time I have
experienced the problem, and it's not consistent! I probably need to go and
get whatever updates that 11 has.

Hi all.
When I use Outlook Express in my XP virtual machine with JAWS 12, I don't
recall experiencing this problem. This is the only JAWS I have on my XP
virtual machine currently. If anyone wants me to try it with earlier
versions please let me know.

Many thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Speech saying TripleTalk...

2010-08-22 Thread Nancy Shackelford
Someone on one of these lists gave instrucs on a suggestion that would help
this problem, but I have lost the message. I'm on a web page with some of
those long links, or even in a message on O E, and it'll suddenly start
picking up part of one of those links and then saying TripleTalk and then
read the real link I'm on. It does the tripleTalk thing until I quit JAWS
and start it again. I have JAWS 11 and Win XP Pro. Suggestions, anyone?

They are having occasional server problems. They're back up when I just
checked.

As an alternative, you can install Solona and use it as well. As a matter
of fact, I had an instance where Webvisum wouldn't recognize a page as
containing a captcha but solona did provide me a solution. Just go to

http://www.solona.net and register.

Hi all.

I have a Sirius subscription and, up to now, have been able to use the
listen and type the numbers you hear link with no problem. After
upgrading to I.E. 8, nothing happens when I try to use this link meaning
that I'm not able to listen online.

Does anyone have any ideas what's blocking the link and how I can resolve
the issue?

Thanks in advane for your help.
