Re: [JAWS-Users] Creating a folder in the IN Box of Outlook 2010
Good morning. To create a new folder in Outlook 2010. With Outlook 2010 open. Press Alt. This takes me to the Home tab. Arrow right a couple times, to the Folder tab. Tab down the Folder tab. The first one is, New Folder. If you keep tabbing, there are other choices. Hope this is helpful. gaston -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Liuda Sent: August-09-14 7:34 AM To: Jaws Users Subject: [JAWS-Users] Creating a folder in the IN Box of Outlook 2010 I need to create a folder in the In Box of Outlook 2010. Navigate to the tree view in Microsoft Outlook 2010, make sure the focus is on the folder list names, where you want to create the new folder then use the right Windows key and there is a create folder option. If you are actually on a message, the option won't appear. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Kate Walsh Sent: 04 January 2013 19:18 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Creating a folder Hi all, I upgraded from JAWS 8 TO JAWS 13 and there are so many things that I need to re-learn. Kate, Do shift control e. It will prompt you for the name. Type the name of your folder, then tab twice. You will get to a tree view. Decide in the tree view where you want your folder by using the arrow keys to go up and down. I usually go to the top with the home key and press enter to activate the okay button. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Kate Walsh Sent: Friday, January 04, 2013 2:18 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Creating a folder Hi all, I upgraded from JAWS 8 TO JAWS 13 and there are so many things that I need to re-learn. Re: [JAWS-Users] creating a folder
I have a question about this. My instructor had told me a few years back that the shortcut key for creating a new folder is alt and F pressed together, then the letter W by itself, then the letter F by itself. This used to work like a charm, but now it doesn't always do the trick. I like to create new folders in my downloads folder for the DVD's I own and then rip to MP3 format. When I try the alt F, the letter W and then the letter F, often I'm not right at the edit field for create new folder. Re: [JAWS-Users] creating a folder
Hello, When you first go into the explorer window, as long as the top item says, not selected, you can use the file menu with the first choice being new But, if you move the cursor at all, the position of the new under the file menu goes way down the list. It's easier to just refresh the list with alt+V, then R for refresh. Then go under file for the first choice to be new. Re: [JAWS-Users] creating a folder
You have to be careful about this, as I have recently discovered. You can do that method of pressing alt+F then the letter W for New, however, if a file is highlighted, you may land on another choice for the letter W. For example, if you have an MP3 file highlighted, and you use that combination of letters, the first choice you'll land on is add to winamp playlist, or something like that. Another thing you have to realize is that sometimes you'll land already in the new sub-menu, and you find that you've pressed W and landed on another choice that begins with the letter W. In my case, it's add to WinRAR archive, followed by WinZip archive and so on and so forth. The moral of this story is, listen to what Jaws is saying before just pressing the letters, otherwise you'll land on something else you may not want. Smile. Exactly, Victor. This never happened before, but it's happening with more frequency now so I suppose the best thing to do is just go to the alt menus and look for it without using shortcuts. - Original Message - From: Victor Gouveia [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, September 13, 2007 10:57 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] creating a folder You have to be careful about this, as I have recently discovered. Re: [JAWS-Users] creating a folder
Hi Joanne, Let's not get too hasty. Smile. You don't have to stop doing it that way, you just have to be a bit more patient with your keystrokes. LOL. One of my biggest mistakes when I first went blind, was thinking that I could keep doing things as fast as I did when I was sighted. Granted, I realize that not all people feel that way, but sometimes, patience is a common universe among society, and we try to do as much as possible at any given moment. One thing you can do is use the advice given already, and that was using the F5 key, just before attempting the alt+F combination, then pressing W, this way, you're assured of going directly into the New sub-menu, and landing directly on the folder choice. If you do it that way, then all you would do is press the F5 key, followed by the alt+F keystroke, then enter twice, as you are placed right on the folder option At that point, you'll land in the edit field of the file name and you can enter the file name at that point. So, you see, you don't have to completely change your habits, just modify them. Smile. Victor and others, thanks. This worked very well and I didn't know I could just use F5 and then take a shortcut. Hi Dan, You can use the F5 key to refresh the list anywhere in Windows explorer. when this is done, nothing in the list is selected, and causes the new sub-menu, to rise to the top of the file menu. Victor, Am I getting something wrong? When I tab to list view I press my application key which is three from the right of the spacebar and arrow down to new folder and enter, there I give it a name and hit enter. When I want to retrieve it I tab to the list and hit the first letter of the folder till I get to the one I want. I don't know what it looks like, but, what the eye doesn't see the heart doesn't grieve over. Hi Mike, I don't think you're doing anything wrong, just doing it differently than other people do, that's all. Who knows, maybe Joanne will decide to use your method, and find that she is better off with it, or just the opposite, use your method and reinforce what she was using before because she doesn't like it.
