[JAWS-Users] gmail and mailing lists
Hello: This topic was discussed a while back but my memory fails me. When participating in a mailing list using a gmail address is it true that the email you compose will not show up in the mailing list or is there a work-around for that. If memory serves, I think I read somewhere in order to make that happen one must place the word recent: before the user name, or is it simply dependent upon each mailing list and how it's handled. Thank you. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] gmail and mailing lists
Howdy Kimsan, Below are several notes I've saved on receiving your own / all posts' to a list, you notice I'm not yelling. LOL, hahaha hahaha hahaha, LOL: Original Message From: David davidwhitehead1...@cogeco.ca Hello Lisa; someone told me, if you set up recent mode in your GMailPopAccount, that, you should be able to receive all messages. Setting up 'recent mode' In your POP client settings replace usern...@gmail.com or email field with; recent:usern...@gmail.com not sure how true this is, but it may be worth a try. David Whitehead Hi Dean, This is from some notes I have saved regarding this topic. Try the following; To be able to get, and see the posts you send to the lists you belong to with Gmail, do the following: Assuming you're using a standard e-mail client like Outlook Express or Outlook, open up the tools menu, then arrow down to accounts and press enter. Once in the dialog box, highlight your Gmail account, and tab to the properties button, and press the spacebar. You should be on the General Tab. Now, tab down to the e-mail address edit field. In that field, type the word recent with a colon before your e-mail address. So, if you're typing this information into your e-mail field, you would type in: recent:dwmaster...@gmail.com Tab down to the apply button, press the spacebar, then shift+tab back to the ok button and press the spacebar. You'll land back on the accounts dialog box, at which point, you tab to the close button, then press the spacebar again. The next time you send and receive your messages, you'll receive each and every message you ever sent via Gmail, so be prepared to get a flood of e-mails once you do this. Take care. [JAWS-Users] Gmail resolution of password entry
I use Win. 7 and JAWS 12. During Tuesday I had computer operations interrupted. The problem was repaired, although ever since when I open Outlook 2010 to send or receive e-mail, I am required to enter my password into the field and okay it or else the requested operation stops right there and never happens. What can I do to make this Gmail password entry permanent, so that I do not need to continually enter it repeatedly? Nowhere can I find some place to stop this from happening. Re: [JAWS-Users] gmail and outlook
I did it again and made sure that pop was enabled, imap was disabled and when I set up the mail both automatically or manually, it creates an imap gmail account. I did this years ago when I had blindgu...@gmail.com for outlook where I had my email set up as pop and all was well, I, for the life of me cannot figure out what the deal is when all proper configurations were set lol. I guess the bigger question is why am I so hung up with pop? I guess there is no real answer, I just use pop. How do I explain this. I lost some of my messages from my inbox. However, they are all still up in my gmail account. If I want to save an individual message, how can I pick each one out and save it. I tried to select a link, I believe it was the subject, and hit save link as. It saved it but it said account options, tables and stuff like that. It wasn't the text of the message. Not really. If you have set it up in Outlook using Pop3 the settings in Outlook Express will be similar. Alt t for tools, A for accounts, New account. Hi, To Jon: Thank you for this additional step. When I use Outlook 2003 to send out mails now, when do a Send/Recieve, I won't get my own mails. Definitely have lesser mails to clear. LOL To Jimmy: You solved it. Now mails by others sent to me will not stay on the server. No need to delete the same mails twice. Didn't know there was such a setting because when I use my Pac Mate to check mails, they disappear from the server. So thought it strange that it did not happen in Outlook 2003 for the XP Operating System. Thank you. In order to see the items, I need to press Function key 6. What does this Function key do? Question 2: Not keeping messages on the server I have set up Outlook to not leave a copy of the message on the server. However, when I go up to the server, THE MESSAGES ARE STILL THERE *Yell*. Horror! I have to delete them again. Not to leave a copy on the server: The steps I take: Alt to Tools Email accounts Change existing account Next More settings Shift-tab advance tab Leave a copy on server (Not check) Besides here, where else do I need to make the adjustments? Re: [JAWS-Users] Gmail and Outlook 2003 questions
Hi Siew Ling, There is one extra step you need to perform when using Gmail. 1. Alt to Tools 2. Email accounts 3. Change existing account 4. Next 5. type recent: in front of your username. 6. Click all the OK buttons. This will keep your outgoing mail off their server. Your folder problem isn't clear to me yet. If you alt plus T, then o, then control plus tab when in a folder such as My Documents, are the radio buttons set to classic? If not, you might try that. Re: [JAWS-Users] Gmail message rules
Hi mike hmmm...I'll have a go. *smiles* firstly, you have to log on to the gmail server with the account details, username and password. I'm going to assume either you or the person have been there? assuming you are using a screen reader, I'd change the view to make it easier to read links. you can have this as default when you log in. ok, so you should now be in your account on the in box page. you need to get to the spam link. you can either arrow down to it or using the links list, insert F7, then press the letter S for spam, until you reach that item. then hit enter to select and activate that link. you should now be able to go down to the spam box. I've just done this by hitting insert F6, then I looked for spam. there were two items here but it's the second one you want. that is of course if your links have two spam items. if this proves to be difficult, you can arrow down to where you will see a lot of emails with links etc. these are the emails that Gmail has blocked. on the page it says spam then under that is a combo box which says, more actions. this is a list of actions you can perform once you have checked an email. you can go through the list of course and if you find the email there you can first check that email and then look for the button that says not spam the other way to do this is to just in put the person's name in to the edit search box and hope gmail can locate it from there. sometimes gmail does add the wrong emails to this spam list, so if I know I'm expecting an email and don't get it in outlook express, I go to this page and go through the emails. by placing a check on the email allows you to perform an action including deleting these emails permanently from the google server. as I said, I periodically go through this list and either delete the emails out right or mark them to go to the in box. then they are delivered when you next get emails from outlook express. you can resend emails this way too. as long as you have your emails kept on google server, you can always retrieve emails this way that you might have deleted on outlook express. trust me, it does come in handy to keep backup emails. I hope this makes sense. I'm not that good at writing instructions. If so, how do I do that? - Original Message - From: Tony Hernandez [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, January 28, 2008 4:01 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] gmail to outlook express If the outgoing port is 25, check with your ISP to make sure it isn't blocked for other SMTP servers. Re: [JAWS-Users] gmail to outlook express
I checked the number there, and it said 995, but I erased it and typed it again anyway, just in case. - Original Message - From: Tony Hernandez [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, January 28, 2008 4:25 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] gmail to outlook express HI Nancy. It should all be within the same account. Try the following if you haven't already done so. 1. From the OE main window, do an alt+T for tools menu, then pres the letter A for accounts. 2. In the accounts list, choose your GMail account and press alt+P for account properties. 3. In the account properties dialog, press control+tab until you get to the advanced page. 4. Tab to the incoming pop3 port edit box and type in 995. 5. Tab to OK and press enter. 6. Tab to close and press enter. Try checking for email with that account now. Hope this helps.
