Re: [JAWS-Users] Say All pausing between lines
I'm not exactly getting Say All paused when I set it to Lines Without Pauses, but I'm having a similar issue since JAWS 18. In both Castilian and Latin American Spanish, Eloquence default thousand separator is the period instead of the comma. Even when Eloquence read whole numbers with thousands groups correctly, when I use Say All the period is handled like a sentence ending period, that is, when using Say All Eloquence speak the whole number before the period, makes a short pause like after a sentence and then speak the rest as it if were another number. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List <jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com> On Behalf Of Orlando Enrique Fiol Sent: Saturday, March 24, 2018 2:31 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Say All pausing between lines Hi all. I'm using the latest builds of both Jaws 2018 and Windows 10. Seemingly inexplicably, Say All has begun pausing between lines, even though I have tried it both reading by sentence and by line without pauses. It's almost as though whichever setting I choose, Say All reads with pauses. To attempt to remedy this, I performed a repair, then tried Say All using the alternate user directory; it read without pauses as I desire. I then deleted all my settings files except for my pronunciation dictionary and voice profiles, to allow Jaws to repopulate my settings directory. AftEr this, Say All again read without pauses as I desire. However, after I went through the entire settings tree, resetting everything to my preferences, the Say All reading with pauses regardless of setting returned. This forces me to ask if there is some hidden or obscure relationship between how Say All pauses and another setting that appears to have nothing to do with it. I'm inclined toward this reasoning because when I switch to the alternate user directory or delete my settings files, Say All behaves properly. Only after I configure my settings does the problem return. The question is: why? I realize that as a temporary fix, I could yet again delete my settings and this time not change any of the defaults. But then, punctuation, speech verbosity and so many other settings would not be configured to my taste. As another possibility, I will test tomorrow whether this behavior is also happening on my laptop. If it is not, I'll try copying my settings directory from my laptop to the problematic desktop. [JAWS-Users] Say all? Verbosity?
Hi all; My problem seems to be getting worse. When JAWS reads in word every word that has a capital letter, the entire word is pronounced with the higher pitch. This does not happen when I read by line. And as mentioned in another message,JAWS reads the amount of space on the top of the page or the amount of indentation eventhough the tab is unchecked. Another punctuation issue is how do you get JAWS not to read n dash or m dash? Thanks for any help. I am using 13.0 Rich As I am typing, JAWS speaks each letter twice. [JAWS-Users] say all voice speaks in outlook 2007
When I hit the enter key to begin listening to an email message my say all voice speaks in outlook 2007 automatically. I don't know why eloquence begins reading the message and then the say all voice takes over in jaws v12. If I was using the say all jaws key that would be normal to have my default (joey) say all voice reading. Any theories and solutions concerning this issue? My bad news is that if I fixed the problem, it was only temporary or I didn't really fix it because I encountered the same issue just now, reading an article that had been pasted into an email and Jaws stopped cold and When I looked to see where I was, I was back at the beginning of the article. Re: [JAWS-Users] Say All Voice
Kerry, John justice here. I just went through the same thing and I learned a couple of interesting facts that might be helpful to you. First of all, The setting is in your Voice section in Jaws. Press Insert J. Press Enter on the Options section and go down to Voices. Press enter again on Adjust Voice Profiles or press the letter V. Once you have passed the Elooquence settings, you'll go to the Say all group. But it won't function unless you take it off of Default which is all Eloquence. However, if you get no response, chances are your Real Speak synthesizer has been damaged by the System Restore. Don't worry, though. That can be repaired. 1. If you performed a system Restore, your Real Speak Solo Direct synthesizer might have to be re-installed. That's easy enough to do. I'ts a separate file on your Jaws disk. If you insert your disk, choose the option that allows you to view files using Windows Explorer. There's an E.X.E. File which reads something like RSD.exe . Just press enter on that, accept the terms of the agreement and let it re-load. 2. although the voices show up in your list, they might not work. If that is the case, you'll have to go out to Freedom Scientific and download them again. The only way around that is to uninstall your Jaws and re-install it again. But even then, you might not get them all. They're all under a separate heading called Real Speak Solo Direct Voices for Freedom Scientific products. Ai'nt computers fun? Good luck. It will take some work but you can do it, Kerry. Just don't forget to take that Say All setting off of Default. Re: [JAWS-Users] Say all voice aliases
You have to set the Say All speech synthesizer to something other than default. This actually makes sense as the dialogue box allows you to set voice aliases for the say all voice, and if say all speech synthesizer is set to default then this means it's set to the same synthesizer as the other voice adjustments. This actually makes sense as the dialogue box allows you to set voice aliases for the say all voice, and if say all speech synthesizer is set to default then this means it's set to the same synthesizer as the other voice adjustments. Re: [JAWS-Users] say all
In my experience Notepad is not necessarily the best application for reading larger text files with Jaws. I actually use WordPad which I find words much more reliably . I have reassigned the defaults so WordPad now opens text files . The reading commands with jaws are very solid. Better even than applications like Word which in my experience tends to freeze when reading really long documents, say over 40 pages long. I have loaded whole books in text format in WordPad and never have a problem reading them, the say all command will work happily for over half an hour or probably longer but I tend to need a break by then. [JAWS-Users] SAY ALL PROBLEM WITH JAWS 9
When using Outlook Express, I have chosen Crystal 16 as my Say All Voice. Yet, for some odd reason, I get Tom, one of the American voices which either reads a line or two and then is replaced by Crystal 16 or reads the entire document. I'd like to get this setting fixed so that it reads with my chosen voice, not some arbitrary voice coming out of Heaven knows where. Hi John, I don't really know what is happening, but I think it is a timing problem. Mike is probably preloaded by default and it takes some time to load Crystal. When I added more memory to my laptop, delays in starting the Say All voice were essentialy eliminated. I am thinking it has something to do with the way Word scrolls to the next page. There is something in the Word options about repagination which might help. - Original Message - From: Chris Hallsworth [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, September 01, 2008 1:16 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Say All and Word 2003 Hi all, using JAWS 9 latest build under Vista Home Premium SP1, I'm having some problems with Say All under Word 2003. It starts reading fine, but somewhere along the way it will either jump back to the top of the document and basically read it all again, or will just stop randomly, in both cases getting me lost in the document. I was doing some revision today for an exam tomorrow, and it was really frustrating to discover this. Does anyone else experience this problem? It also happened last week in an exam I took, however I didn't want to report it then since I wasn't sure if it would continue, but it has. I tried changing the view from normal to print. I even tried to maximize the Word 2003 window, with no result in both cases. I've installed all the latest Office updates, but it still hasn't solved the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. This doesn't occur anywhere else, like Internet Explorer or Notepad. -- Chris Hallsworth E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] MSN: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Skype: chrishallsworth7266 Klango: chrishallsworth FTP: ftp://chrishallsworth.dyndns.org Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following address in order to contact the management team [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following address in order to contact the management team [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Visit the Blind Computing home page at: http://www.blind-computing.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following address in order to contact the management team [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [JAWS-Users] Say all
Hi, While using the SAPI5 synthesizer, go to jaws options menu, voices, global adjustment. Tab a few times until you here the punctuation combo box and select the level you want. If you only want this for Outlook express, make sure the modify application settings or whatever it is radio button is checked, if not check the modify default one. Sorry if I sound harsh, I am trying to use NVDA with the latest Firefox, ff3rc2 seems to crash when you tab to the content with NVDA running, so have to use superslow IE, gur'r'rhrhrhhrhhr! - Original Message - From: JoJo and pablo [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, June 12, 2008 7:40 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Say all Hi, I am using the latests version of Jaws with Outlook Express and am trying to read my e-mails with the say-all command. [JAWS-Users] say all cutting off lines
My issue with say all while reading text is lines are cut off even when I maximize the page in a printer friendly document like on the New York Times site. For example, if I enter on the print link and let it read without stopping the page after it loads the text reads fine. However, if I silence the page and then use the say all command to read the document text lines are chopped off. Ironically, if I read line by line with the arrow keys the text reads properly. Any ideas how to fix this?
