Hey.
It is a pain. The path name will be different depending on your system and
setup. I just got this machine running Windows 10 a while back, and
searching over the last couple of minutes, I still haven't been able to find
all the script files. I know the path used to be something like: c:\program
files\freedom scientific\jaws\"versionnumber"\settings\emu, but that's
changed. I have JAWS 18 and although I think I found the correct location on
my work computer, I'm still hunting around here.

As for the archive ... once you find that damn folder, you can just extract
the files from the .zip file into it. This is probably better than a
self-extracting archive because the path will be different, depending on
your jaws version, os, system, etc.

I'm a Window-eyes migrant and we always had self-extracting files for their

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws scripts for virtualdj

2017-01-29 Thread Humberto Rodriguez
Hello Marisane:

In answer to your question about Virtual DJ, I don't think it is very
accessible with Jaws and don't know about scripts for it, but mos blind DJs
I know who like to do live shows use a commercial software called Station
Playlist Studio from stationplaylist.com that is pretty accessible
off-the-box but also has some commercial scripts by Jonathan Mosen that make
it even more so.

I don't do live shows any more, but used this software years ago when I did
and I believe that is the absolutely best for the purpose; the other one
that comes to mind and I used before Station Playlist was Zara Radio from
Spain, which is also accessible with Jaws or at least was back then.

I still am very much into internet radio, but all our shows are prerecorded
now, using a JAWS-accessible recorder about which I learned in this list,
called Virtual Recorder, it is what 90% of our program producers now use .
Before learning about Virtual Recorder, we used software such as Total
Recorder, Goldwave MP3 Direct Cut and Audacity to record, but now we use
them only to edit audio.

Humberto

Hi guys
I am Marisane from SA.
I am starting a project on deejaying.
I am, at present, using goldwave to do this.
However, it is not as good as virtual dj.
I want to use virtual dj, but it is very inaccessible with jaws.
I've heard that there are jaws scripts for the application.
Does anyone of you know of this?
Where to get them?

Your assistance in this regard is appreciated in advance.

Hi everybody.

I just purchased the Goldwave audio editor. I noticed and downloaded the
JAWS scripts for it from the jaws-users.com web site, but found no
documentation or even a description of what the scripts do. Before I
install them, does anybody know anything about these scripts and what
they do?

2016-05-19 Thread Bissett, Tom
These scripts were developed and distributed free. If you read the help you
will see what they do and the rest they don't. They are not at a stage where
they cover everything but do help to jump from the chat input and history
windows. Stopped a lot of the extraneous chatter. I am not sure where the
numbers are coming from because I do not experience this.
Unfortunately this is all there is. No one else has done any scripting for
this.

Hello gang.
I installed the JAWS scripts for SFB 2015 from the scripts home page below:
http://www.dlee.org/sfb/lync.htm#instI have verified they are installed by
hitting Insert Q with SFB in focus. But I just don't notice any difference with
and without the scripts. For example, both out of the box SFB'15 and with
scripts installed, I'm unable to activate the 'share' button to share my
desktop, unable to scroll through the list of attendees and grant/revoke
control, and also hear lots of random numbers spoken each time I land on the
participants list window before JAWS speaks the participants name. It's
basically pretty inaccessible.
How do I resolve the above three issues with the scripts above or some other
set of scripts?

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws scripts

2013-07-04 Thread Flor Lynch
JAWS screen-reader is essentially a sophisticated computer program, that
tells Braille and speech applets what to do and how to do those things.
Whenever you use JAWS, you're using scripts. They're the components of
the language in which JAWS code is written (or compiled, as they say).
This code is normally hidden, but with the aid of the scripting language
(or the scripts manager, etc.) any JAWS user can have access to it. then
if you learn a bit of the language, you can modify JAWS behaviours in
the applications you use or want to use. Thus, folk with some skill may
try to make modifications to JAWS in programs where it's not doing
things well (or well enough).

Hi Tom,

JAWS Script is a special microprogram written in the JAWS own
programming language called JAWS scripting Language. These
microprograms, known as macros, too, make able JAWS to communicate with
other programs. They are the gateway between JAWS and the speech
synthetizer. They control what, how and when should say the synthetizer.

Hello there;

First you need to download and install the skype talking program,

Next you need to start skype,

Now when skype loads,

Alt+t=tools,

Your now in a list,
You can
Down arrow until you hear advanced,
Or, you can, go quickly to the bottom of the list, which would be,
Ctrl+end, you will hear;
Hotkeys,
Now just up arro until you hear;
Advanced,
Which would be 2 up arrows,

Now just tab until you hear;

Manage other programs' access to Skype
Press enter.
Here you can allow skype talking to be used by skype.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS SCRIPTS WITH CURRENT SKYPE SOFTWARE

2011-08-15 Thread David
Hello there;

First you need to download and install the skype talking program,

Next you need to start skype,

Now when skype loads,

Alt+t=tools,
O=options,
Your now in a list,
 You can
Down arrow until you hear advanced,
Or, you can, go quickly to the bottom of the list, which would be,
Ctrl+end, you will hear;
Hotkeys,
Now just up arro until you hear;
Advanced,
Which would be 2 up arrows,

Now just tab until you hear;

Manage other programs' access to Skype
Press enter.
Here you can allow skype talking to be used by skype.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS SCRIPTS WITH CURRENT SKYPE SOFTWARE

2011-08-14 Thread Doris and Chris

Hi,John,

The Jonathan Mosan tutoiral was made when skype 2.5 was the current
version and skype 2.6 was in beta.

It is a good tutorial and some of the basic concepts certainly still
apply. You did not tell us, however, which version of skype you are
using. the skype interface underwent several major changes over the
year. the most current tutorial I know of is for skype 4.x. It can be found at

http://www.skype.com/

this is a free tutorial but quite good. it is probably the closest to
the current 5.x skype version even though skype's interface has
changed again some between the 4.x and 5.x cycle.
Skype is usable without scripts as it has inbuilt accessibility.
However, the skype scripts do make it easier to get around skype and
provide such features as automatic reading of chat messages..

I personally would try skype without scripts first and get familiar
with the program's layout, inbuilt keyboard shortcuts menus and such
and then go and get the scripts appropriate for your version of skype.

Happy skyping!

Doris

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Scripts to convert a book to be readablewithTalks with Mobile Phone

2010-09-23 Thread Emanuel Boboiu (Manu)

Yes of cource, totally free.
I am sure it is useful, we read books on mobile phones for a long time using
it.
It is easy to find a place were we stoped before, just pressing 4 key to
find the heading with the bookmark number 5 for instance, this being the
last one I heared last time i read that book.
It is possible to read books like on the computer. Not only books, any kind
of texts.
When i go to work for instance, on the bus I am reading scaned books using
headphones.

You can do anything with the program, it's free.
   Best wishes!

Hello,

Quick Reading on Mobile is a system programed in JAWS Scripting and allows
you to convert books to be readable on your Symbian Phone using Nuance
Talks

screen reader.
The link to download the program is after instructions in this message.

After installing Quick Reading on Mobile, you will find on the desktop an
icon named Quick Reading on Mobile 2.1.
Pressing enter on it, Notepad will open. Here you must have in Format
menu,

the option "Word Wrap" not checked.
Open the document in your text editor with the book you want to convert,
select all and copy the content to clipboard.
When you are on the Notepad window with the template opened, press Control
+

Shift + H to start the process. Don't press Control + V to paste the text,
this will be done automatically for you..
First of all, a question will appear: "Are you sure you want to convert?".
Press Yes or No.
After, an edit box will appear asking the name for the document and file.
Another edit will appear asking for the distance between bookmarks. The
distance is calculated in Page_Downs. 10 Page_Downs mean approximately 5
Word pages.
Wait until Notepad will close.
During the process, don't do anything, don't touch the keyboard. It is
better to have your Messenger closed.

The book converted into HTML will be found in Documents folder.
You must copy the converted file into your Mobile Phone and open it
pressing

Select Key on it.
Your Internet Browser will open the document without connecting to
internet.
For each Bookmark you will find a heading Level 2. During reading the
book,

you will hear: "Heading Level 2 - Bookmark 1", "Heading Level 2 - Bookmark
2" etc. Next time you will open the book on your mobile, you can find the
bookmark pressing "H" Key 4 on you keypad. Press key 4 until you will hear
"Heading Level 2 – Bookmark x", where x is the bookmark you were last
time.

This version is tested with Symbian 3rd Edition with Nuance Talks 3.6 and
4.0. These scripts works with all versions of JAWS.
The Say All command in Nuance Talks is Talks Key + Down Arrow.

Enjoy reading with your Mobile Phone!

the messages I have sent in a single session though.

They just enhance the functionality of Skype. For example when in a chat
window you can review the last 10 messages as well as optionally be
notified is someone is typing, similar to what happens with Windows live.

2009-06-12 Thread Ann Marie Medlar

Many ways to install scripts and here is just one way.
Unsure about your request but if you have script files
then
copy all script files to clipboard
to install
Press insert+F2 enter type s for script manager
control+o to open and tab to file type and type a for all
shift tab twice to file list view and paste script files.
Scripts should be copied, double check. There should be several files with
different extensions.

.JSS is source
JSB is binary or compiled source

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Scripts For Skype - Frequently Asked Questions

This page is laid out with questions as headers and answers below them, so
JAWS users can use h to skim through questions.

How should Skype be configured for maximum accessibility?

The following settings are recommended. This is based on Skype 3.5 and 3.6:

* View > Compact Mode, not checked.
* View > Show Text On Tabs, checked.
* View > Accessibility > Extended Keyboard Navigation, checked.
* View > Accessibility > Simplified Graphics, checked.
* Tools > Options > General > Show Emoticons, not checked.

Why is this part of Skype now missing?

If one of the following items seems to have been taken out of Skype, or at
least it's not possible to find it anymore, check that it is enabled in your
View menu. Each of these items has a checkbox there to turn it off or on:

* The address bar, where you type something like "echo123" and hit
Enter to connect directly.
* The Call Phones tab, formerly called the Dial tab, where you can
dial numbers for SkypeOut.
* The status bar at the bottom of the screen, where the current online
status is shown along with the number of users currently in Skype.
* The Live tab added in Skype 3.0.
* The Skype Find tab added in Skype 3.1.

To make sure you see one of these, make sure its View menu option is
checked. To remove one of these from view, uncheck its View menu item. To
check or uncheck a View menu item, just press Enter on it.

Why does SkypeWatch not work

Note: If SkypeWatch stopped working after a JAWS update or repair, skip to
the next question.

The following checklist is meant to catch most of the problems seen so far
with SkypeWatch installations.

1. Go into Skype, Type JAWSKey+V to open the JAWS Verbosity Settings
for Skype, and see if the option called "SkypeWatch messages" is in the
list. In JAWS versions before 9.0, it generally appears right before the
"User Verbosity" option. Starting in JAWS 9, where the verbosity options are
a tree, it appears just before the "General Options" category. If you do not
see the "Skypewatch Messages" option, SkypeWatch scripts are not running,
and you probably need to follow the Script Installation
  Instructions to load them
properly. If you do see this option, continue with the next item.
2. Make sure SkypeWatch Messages are turned On, not Off, in the
Verbosity Settings. If they are Off, turn them On and see if that helps. If
not, continue.
3. If you are using a Skype script revision 442 or later, make sure the
Skype alerts for items you want reported by SkypeWatch are turned on in
Skype's Options dialog. They are all under Notification Settings:

* To hear incoming calls, set the first option, which should be called
something like "When someone calls me," to "Show Windows tray alert." The
other option, "Show Skype call alert," will not work with SkypeWatch. Note:
In at least Skype 3.5.0.107, it seems to be necessary to use the JAWS cursor
to check the "Show Windows tray alert" radio button if it is not already
checked. Attempting to use arrows moves focus to a "Show an example" link
and does not change the setting.
* To hear contacts sign in, check the box that says, "Display a
notification in the Windows tray when someone comes online." If JAWS is
having trouble reading field labels on this screen, the option may just be
called "Comes online."
* To hear the contact name and part of the chat line when someone
sends you a chat, check the box called, "Display a notification in the
Windows tray when someone starts a chat with me." You should then start
hearing chat notifications as they appear. Keep in mind, though, that a chat
notification will only appear if the corresponding chat window is not
already open. If you have set up Skype to pop open chat windows
automatically as chat lines come to you, you will therefore hear an alert
message for only the first chat message sent to you by each person.

There are several more possible notifications you can choose from that are
not listed here. If you are sure you have enabled the appropriate alerts,
continue.

4. Test specific Skype alerts by causing them to happen when you have
turned Screen Echo to All, which can be done temporarily by typing JAWSKey+S
until JAWS says "All." (Remember to return this setting to "Highlighted"
when done.) For example, to test the Skype tray alert for an incoming call,
set Screen Echo to All, then have someone call you, and see if you hear text
that sounds like "so and so is calling you." Try this from within any
application in which it seems incoming call messages are not working. (Some
users have reported incoming call message problems when they are in one
application but not when they are in

Hi mostafa,

I know about some jaws scripts for nokia pc suite, but the price was $150
and I wouldn't pay sutch amount of money. If you are useing third
generation phone you can use the latest version of this nokia software and
it's pritty accessible as instalation and interface. You can go to
www.blindsea.com and then to 3rd addition 3rd-Party Software. There you'll
find Nokia PC Suite version 7.0.8.2. I use this version with jaws 7.10
with no problems. On another computer I use an older PC suite 6.86.29.9
with jaws 9. I think you can use it also with second edition phones, but
I'm not absolutely sure. If you have more questions, ask the talks users
list.

Re: [JAWS-Users] *(JAWS SCRIPTS FOR PC SUITE)*

2008-10-04 Thread Negoslav Sabev

Hi mostafa,

I know about some jaws scripts for nokia pc suite, but the price was $150
and I wouldn't pay sutch amount of money. If you are useing third generation
phone you can use the latest version of this nokia software and it's pritty
accessible as instalation and interface. You can go to www.blindsea.com and
then to 3rd addition 3rd-Party Software. There you'll find Nokia PC Suite
version 7.0.8.2. I use this version with jaws 7.10 with no problems. On
another computer I use an older PC suite 6.86.29.9 with jaws 9. I think you
can use it also with second edition phones, but I'm not absolutely sure. If
you have more questions, ask the talks users list.

Best regards

Negoslav

Hi Patricia,

If I'm not mistaken, David cleaned it up a bit, and posted it to the web
site.

He can tell you exactly where to find it, but they were essentially
instructions on how to make checking your web mail easier and more efficient
with Jaws.

If you can't get it from the web page, let me know and I'll re-post it to
the list again.

Is there any jaws 5.0 scripts for using web mail?

A friend of mine has xp home and jaws 5.0 but since the new security
settings for her ISP/SBC it messed up her Outlook Express to the point she
can't use it and now has to check her emails off the web site and that's
proving to be very tedius for her.

Any suggestions? I checked the web site didn't see any scripts, but thought
I'd ask anyways...

Thanks,

Patricia
