[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-872889 ] CMP using audit-updated-by failing to deploy in v3.2.3
Bugs item #872889, was opened at 2004-01-08 16:46 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=376685aid=872889group_id=22866 Category: JBossCMP Group: v3.2 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Carlos Villegas (cvill) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: CMP using audit-updated-by failing to deploy in v3.2.3 Initial Comment: A have a CMP bean working on 3.2.2. The bean uses the audit features. If I try to deploy the same bean in 3.2.3 it fails on creating the table. The error is that the updated-by column is duplicated in the SQL statement sent to the database, e.g. CREATE TABLE mytable ( col1 type1, ... updated_by TEXT, ... updated_by TEXT ) If I create the table manually, some queries give the same type of SQL syntax errors, the updated-by column is duplicated. It works correctly in v3.2.2. -- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=376685aid=872889group_id=22866 --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Perforce Software. [JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-872946 ] verifier problem with hot redeploy in 3.2.3
Bugs item #872946, was opened at 2004-01-08 10:41 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=376685aid=872946group_id=22866 Category: JBossServer Group: v3.2 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Winfried Wasser (winnywasser) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: verifier problem with hot redeploy in 3.2.3 Initial Comment: I have problems to redeploy my Application. Deployment consists of an EAR containing an EJB Archive (one Stateful EJB) and some Resource Archives defined in the application.xml. Further the EAR contains some Java archives containing 3rd party and global library classes linked to the EJB and RAR Archives by the manifest. The problem is, that the Server deploys the Application absolutely fine when starting, but when I try to redeploy it by copy to the deploy directory (also when nothing has changed) the EJBVerifier means, that some methods defined in the EJB's remote interface doesn't have an matching method in the EJB's implementation class. Question: The Stateful EJB's implemtation class is inherited from an Abstract implementation of the functionality and only implements one of the EJB's remote methods defined - the others are used from the Abstract impl. --- EJBVerification detects errors in all remote methods Is the Abstract class the problem or maybe the fact, that the abstract EJB impl is not in the same Archive as the Archive defined in the application.xml for the EJB (only included by manifest to the EJB archive)? Additional Note: The same implementation has no problems with BEA Weblogic. Seem's for me, thats look like a BUG. -- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=376685aid=872946group_id=22866 --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Perforce Software. RE: [JBoss-dev] SNMP alert notifications
Hi Bill, In deploy/snmp-adaptor.sar there are 3 configuration files: managers.xml - to which SNMP managers to send traps mbeans.xml - which mbeans/JMX Notification types to register for notifications.xml - how to map specific JMX Notification types to SNMP traps To get a simple example running you need to: a) Produce one or more JMX notifications from an MBean of yours. You probably need to define your own notification types. Those are basically package-like strings (e.g. JMX.mbean.registered) that are used to create notification namespaces and identify notifications by type. The notification itself is javax.management.Notification or a subclass of it. For example, the always-there JMImplementation:type=MBeanServerDelegate MBean throws a notification of type JMX.mbean.registered wrapped inside class javax.management.MBeanServerNotification that extends javax.management.Notification. Another example is the SnmpAgentService itself. Because it extends org.jboss.system.ServiceMBeanSupport it can easily emit a coldstart notification upon startup, like this: this.sendNotification(new Notification(coldstart, this, getNextNotificationSequenceNumber())); b) Configure mbeans.xml so that your MBean is monitored by the snmp-adaptor for the particular JMX notifications types you emit, for example: monitored-obj object-namejboss.jmx:name=SnmpAgent,service=snmp,type=adaptor/object-name notification-typecoldstart/notification-type ... notification-typeyet.another.type/notification-type /monitored-obj c) Map the notification type to a corresponding SNMP trap in notifications.xml. For the above example this could be: mapping notification-typecoldstart/notification-type generic0/generic specific0/specific enterprise1.2.3.4.5.6.7/enterprise var-bind-list wrapper-class=org.jboss.jmx.adaptor.snmp.agent.NotificationWrapperSupport var-bind taga:startTime/tag oid1.2.3.4.5.6.7.9/oid /var-bind var-bind taga:trapCount/tag oid1.2.3.4.5.6.7.6/oid /var-bind /var-bind-list /mapping The wrapper class is the one used to extract information from the emitted notification. The default one shown above understands the following tags: Source Tag Explanation Notificationn:message The JMX Notification message attribute n:sequenceNumberThe JMX Notification sequence number attribute n:timeStamp The JMX Notification time stamp attribute n:type The JMX Notification type attribute n:all The JMX Notification in stringified form n:class The JMX Notification class Agent a:startTime The Agent instantiation time in stringified form a:uptimeThe Agent uptime in msec a:trapCount The Agent trap count attribute User data u:xxx Assuming the user defined notification payload is contained in a hash map, it will use xxx as the key to extract the value. You can define your own extractor class, but then it gets complicated... d) Finally, set the manager(s) to receive traps. By default snmp-adaptor includes a simple manager that logs SNMP traps as log.info messages, so no need to do something: manager addresslocalhost/address port1162/port local-port0/local-port version1/version /manager e) Touch the snmp-adaptor/META-INF/jboss-service.xml to restart the adaptor and activate the new configuration Hope that helps! Tell me how it goes. Best Regards /Dimitris --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Perforce Software. RE: [JBoss-dev] Webconsole Snapshot Recording of JMX attributes
Sacha / Bill, at my old company I implemented a HTML tree control that gets it's input from XML. The idea is, that the server assembles the XML data, either of the whole tree or parts of it and the tree control transforms it into HTML. The server does not need to know about the state of the expanded nodes / current node in the user session. Images and node names are of course freely configurable at runtime. The server receives messages when the user clicks on the tree nodes or expands/collapses a level. HTML is still the least common denominator as far as browsers go. Check it out at: http://www.softcon-itec.de/itec-site/products/sctree.html cheers -Thomas PS: I never liked the idea of using an applet -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ivelin Ivanov Sent: Mittwoch, 7. Januar 2004 07:41 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [JBoss-dev] Webconsole Snapshot Recording of JMX attributes Sacha, do you remember what drove your decision to use Swing for the management tree in the web console? The reason why I am asking is because we (in our company) had to go through a long and painful round of experiments and prototypes comparing the feasibility of DHTML vs Swing for a big project. One of the prototypes showed how to efficiently implement dynamic tree that updates some of its nodes over time. At the end, DHTML came ahead because of its better cross-browser, cross-platform availability, compared to java plug-ins. Although it is much less pleasent to code to. Ivelin --- Bill Burke [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The web-console framework is Sacha's baby. I've just added shit. Ivelin Ivanov wrote: Cool. I assume this is a feature of the web console, not the jmx console? BTW, how did you make the decision to use a java applet in the web console vs. dhtml? Ivelin --- Bill Burke [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi all, I just committed the ability to do snapshot recordings of any JMX attribute within the web-console. [JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-863113 ] Session Replication Inconsistent
Bugs item #863113, was opened at 2003-12-19 19:33 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by airsquig You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=376685aid=863113group_id=22866 Category: Clustering Group: v3.2 Status: Open Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Submitted By: Jason Tetrault (airsquig) Assigned to: Thomas Peuss (tpeuss) Summary: Session Replication Inconsistent Initial Comment: This Bug report is a result of discussions on the JBoss Forums: http://www.jboss.org/index.html? module=bbop=viewtopict=43602 Versions Replicated on: JBoss 3.2.3, JBoss 3.2.2, JBoss 3.2.4 RC, JBoss 4.0 RC Version researched: JBoss 3.2.4 nightly Overview: It was noticed that HTTP Session Replication appeared inconsistent in a clustered environment. Further research showed that this was happening under round robin load balancing. Basically, it was found that a Session would replicate to another node ONCE and only Once, after that, the sessions are inconsistent. This shows itself in a apache round robin, NON Sticky load balanced configuration. On the third hit is when this bug shows itself. Now, after adding some trace, what I found is the following: It seem that the org.jboss.web.tomcat.session.ClusterManager has a local session container(sessions). If and only if the session is not in the local container, it will access the HTTPSessionMBean to get the session, which calls the org.jboss.ha.httpsession.beanimpl.ejb.ClusteredHTTPSes sionBeanImpl EJB. All works well. If node A is hit first, then Node B, Node B will get the session from the EJB that was set from node A. Now, Once both nodes have the session in their cache, the ClusterManager does not appear to go back to the MBean to re-get their session on get session requests, it just uses the version in local sessions container. This means that a session will replicate ONCE, and after that, tomcat uses its local version. This causes an inconsistent session state. It does look like each Servlet Container is updating there version in the EJB but, it is off because it is based off the inconsistent session it its local cache. Now, to test this, I made a quick code change to ClusterManager.findSession()method to get the session from the MBean and not use the one from sessions. This appeared to fix the problem (You have to call sessions.sessions.get(id) or it will break. Again, I did not spend much time on fixing it). Exactly how you want to fix this is up to you, I can see a few ways: 1. Somewhat like mentioned above. 2. Making the backend call the invalidate on the MBean to get rid of the sessions session. 3. others. Reproduction Information: This can be replicated by 1 JSP in a clustered environment in a session replicated web application. The attached JSP will replicate this problem. Basically, on each cluster, change the string being appended to the session key to the node name. In an apache round robin environment, one would expect that the string in the session would look like the following: Hit1: NodeA Hit2: NodeA,NodeB Hit3: NodeA,NodeB,NodeA Hit4: NodeA,NodeB,NodeA,NodeB Hit5: NodeA,NodeB,NodeA,NodeB,NodeA Right now, this is what happens: Hit1: NodeA Hit2: NodeA,NodeB Hit3: NodeA,NodeA Hit4: NodeA,NodeB,NodeB Hit5: NodeA,NodeA,NodeA Hit6: NodeA,NodeB,NodeB,NodeB Now, you do not necessarily need the apache round robin configuration but, it helps. Email me if you have any questions. Jason -- Comment By: Jason Tetrault (airsquig) Date: 2004-01-08 14:18 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=934522 Hello Thomas, Thank you for you effort. Re: [JBoss-dev] Webconsole Snapshot Recording of JMX attributes
Good for you that you agree. I'm unwilling to do the work to a) write yet another new GUI framework b) port all existing functionality to new framework Personally, I'd rather focus on writing new management functionality with the current web-console than rewriting to a new GUI framework and being stuck in DHTML hell. Unless a new recruit comes along, the current recruits have other things to worry about. What is so wrong with the current implementation? Bill Ivelin Ivanov wrote: I agree with Thomas. [JBoss-dev] Greetings
Dear Friend, With warm heart I offer my friendship, and greetings and I hope this mail meets you in good time. However strange or surprising this contact might seem to you, as we have not met personally nor had any dealings in the past, I humbly ask that you take due consideration of its importance and immense benefit. I also sincerely seek your confidence, as I make this proposal to you as a person of integrity. First and foremost I wish to introduce myself properly to you. My name is MISS MIRIAM AHMED, I am a nephew and Personal Assistant to Late Jonas Malheiro Savimbi, leader of UNITA (National Union for the Total Independence of Angola). As led by my instinct, I selected your email address from an internet directory, in my search for partner, hence this email. My Uncle(Mentor) was killed in a battle with government forces in Angola, led by President Dos Santos, on Friday 22nd February 2002. After his death, Mr. Antonio Dembo who was his second in command, assumed office as leader of UNITA, due to lack of the Charisma my Uncle had carried the party with in Dembo, there was chaos and struggle for leadership. Prominent members like Carlos Morgado lobbied to depose him and assume office as leader to enrich themselves and some of them who saw me as a threat to their ambitions, including Mr.Dembo, planned to kill me. The tension and confusion in UNITA become uncontrollable when Mr. Dembo died 10days after my Uncle's death. As I lost my mentor in this struggle which was on for more than three decades , not so much of this struggle interests me anymore,as there is now no sense of direction. I now desire a peaceful life, as I am no more interested in conflicts and wars. For this reason, I secretly left Angola and came here (SOUTH AFRICA) to seek political asylum. I am sincerely proposing to you to render me your highly needed assistance in respect to safekeeping of some of my Uncle's money that arose from Diamonds sales. This money TWENTY THREE MILLION UNITED STATE DOLLARS (US$23 million),which was already on its way to my Uncle's Swiss Bank account, through the Diplomatic means we use to move money abroad, and was on transit with a private safe deposit security company here in JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA in February when the tragic incident of my Uncle's death occurred. I then instructed the company to secure the consignment containing the money pending on further instructions from me. I have waited for sometime now for security reasons, and have now deicded to act with your reliable assistance. As a matter of fact, the reason I came to SOUTH AFRICA and sought for political asylum here is the safe deposit. President Dos Santos has lobbied the International Community to freeze my Uncle's assets and accounts abroad,to ground UNITA,(though peace agreement has been signed recently which stopped hostilities between UNITA and the government) and has already done this in Angola.Hence I cannot lodge the funds in my name. Also I did not declare the funds to be here. I plan to use this money to safeguard my future. It is very essential that you understand that the kind of trust and confidence I want to put in you is extraordinary, and an act of desperation on my part, in order not to lose this money. Also, ensure that this contact with you should be treated with utmost secrecy. Your role in this project, is travelling to South Africa for meeting and open a non-resident account so that when the fund is claimed from the Security company,it will be lodged into the account first for further transfer to your country account. I hope to use my own share of the fund to invest in your country with your advise. For your reliable assistance, I will reward you with 30%(of the money while 5% is mapped out for any charges we may incurre in the course of achieving the business. I have with me, the Certificate of Deposit for the consignment containing the funds, which will be used for claim from the security company, and the release codes of the vaults. Also, everything will be legally processed for transfer of ownership to you, and this transaction should be completed immediately depending on your prompt response. I thank you in advance as I anticipate your assistance in enabling me achieve this goal. Please contact me through my email address or my direct phone number To know more about the struggle by UNITA to liberate Angola, click on the link below and read. http://www.the-idler.com/IDLER-02/3-16.html Sincerely, MISS MIRIAM AHMED. Re: [JBoss-dev] Webconsole Snapshot Recording of JMX attributes
I think our comments came across wrong. I don't think it is critical or important whether the web console runs as a Java plug-in or DHTML. It is just a usability observation. The web console will be used by IT professionals, so I am not concerned that they won't be able to install the plug-in. Maybe we can come back to this when the higher-priority tasks are closed or if someone volunteers the time and contributes the code. [JBoss-dev] Mail Services changes....Let the dominos fall
I just committed support for multiple CC's/BCC, mails which have both local and remote users, and some various minor changes. If anyone can give a hand figuring out why Microsoft Entourage/iMail hates us after we deliver its message and say delivered then I'd really appreciate it. I don't have that problem with any other mail client :-/ Today I'm going to do some more cleanup and fix some unit tests as well as fill some in that I don't feel are complete. Tomorrow I plan to work on attachments. I'm also working on a high level document which explains: 1. The case for mail services 2. Use cases 3. What services I feel we should provide 4. Configuration issues 5. market position (things that do similar things to what we're doing) I'd really like to talk to people with email based applications. I'd like to work with someone who has a real-world case to provide me with a cutting board for features. Right now my main goal is to replace my personal mail server. The only challenge there is that it serves (low volume) mail lists. I fear I'll achieve this rather quickly even with my traveling. More information on Mail Services is available on the wiki ATM: http://www.superlinksoftware.com/cgi-bin/erswiki.pl?MailServicesForJBoss This includes information such as where the heck do I get it? how do I build it? and how can I help Thanks, Andy (sent via Mail Services for JBoss ;-) ) --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Perforce Software.
