Watch the server log for any errors during deployment. If you can see logs about your bean being deployed without errors, try to use the jmx console to see what is registered with JNDI. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Multiple instances of an entity
Hi all, I found out, that JBoss 4 creates multiple instances (=Entity Beans) of one entity. This results in problems during update, because the changes, which are made, are overwritten by an subsequent ejbStore() call of another EJB of the same entity. Did anyone face the same problem? Is there any solution for it or should I kick the whole development in the trash bin? Hereby I give you the most important part from the protocol. The relevant bean is RelationshipBean, its key is (objtyFr, objidFr, objtyTo, objidTo, lfdNr), (relty, validFr, validTo) are attributes. Any help is appreciated. Hi! I'm new in this forum, and I don't know if this is the correct place for putting my question. The question is: I'm deploying an application which uses an stateless session bean and entities. When I try tu run the server it doesn't work, and looking into the logs I've seen that there is a line which is repeated many many times. This line is: [org.jboss.mx.modelmbean.ModelMBeanInvoker] No persistence-manager descriptor found, null persistence will be used Does anybody know what is happening and how can I solve the problem??? [JBoss-user] [JBoss.NET] - Re: Axis EJB provider not registered with JBoss 3.2.6
Tell me if I'm wrong, but there are some features I need that are missing in WS4J: - web service session: we have a complex and costly login phase to determine the user profile. This phase is much more complex than what the J2EE security mechanisms offer. This is done by an Axis handler that calls an external native process. This profile (along with other user related info) must be stored in a session to avoid computing it again and again. - stateful EJB endpoint: the clients must be able to rollback some actions in some case. So we provide transactional support. This can only be achieved by using stateful EJB's, I think. Your client is not associated with a stateless session bean, calling remove has no effect on a specific session bean instance. If you look into the code (org.jboss.management.j2ee.JCAResource) you'll see there is no chance to get anything else than a single array entry: | ObjectName jsr77CFName = getConnectionFactory(0); | Object[] params = {poolServiceName}; | String[] sig = {ObjectName.class.getName()}; | JCAConnectionPoolStatsImpl cfStats = (JCAConnectionPoolStatsImpl) |server.invoke(jsr77CFName, getPoolStats, params, sig); | JCAConnectionPoolStatsImpl[] poolStats = {cfStats}; | stats = new JCAStatsImpl(null, poolStats); | I'm not an jsr77 expert, so I suggest you read the spec to be certain what is the expected behaviour. [JBoss-user] [Persistence CMP/JBoss] - JTA Transaction doesn't rollback Hibernate sessions
Hibernate version: V2.1.6 Name and version of the database : Oracle 8 JBoss : V4.0.0 I have configured Hibernate in JBoss through .har deployer and get the session by the JNDI to the session factory. All working fine except for Transactions. I use JTA and have given my Transaction demarcation in the deployment descripter of my stateless session bean as : | container-transaction |method |ejb-nameRequest/ejb-name |method-intfRemote/method-intf |method-nameexecuteProcess/method-name | /method | trans-attributeRequired/trans-attribute | /container-transaction | Ideally i need the container to rolback the transaction if anything goes wrong withing the method executeProcess, which does not happen currently in my application. In that method, i call session.save method several times, but if one save operation fails, it doesn't rollback all the other save operations, which is want i'm trying to acieve. I understand that when the : | session = HibernateContext.getSession(java:/hibernate/SessionFactory); | session.save(dao); | - gets called several times withing the same transaction, the sessions used get bound to the current context which means to the current JTA transaction. Then why won't the transaction gets rolled back with all the save commands that took place? Am i missing something in my JBoss JTA configurations? If so can anyone give me some hints on configuring JTA on JBoss. Thanks alot for considering my issue. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: Multiple instances of an entity
Hi all, the problem still exists and is making me mad, but I have found out some details, which I want to add for your understanding. I try show you what happens in a kind of sequence diagram: a) Servlet calls RelationshipoBean-setData b) setData creates an instance of RelationshipTypeBean via findByPrimaryKey c) setData calls RelationshipTypeBean-checkValidity d) checkValidity searchs for other Relationship through calling findByObjTo e) for each found entity checks are made. In case of success nothing happens, in case of an error an exception is thrown. The problem resides in point e), because the finder returns the instance, too, which is active over all the sequence. And taking the Bean's interfaces out of the collection returned by the finder results in another instance of the SAME entity. The documentation says, that this behaviour is impossible!? See here for a snipplet from JBoss Admin Development Guide 3.2.6 anonymous wrote : 5.4.2. Hi friends, I have a problem. Inside an MDB I am using a Queuebrowser to look into the Queue to which MDB listens. The browser have a message selector with the JMSCorrelationID as selecting criteria and the MDB is configured as singleton and the OnMessage() has the transaction attribute as required. First I sends 5 messages to a the queue. In the OnMessage method I check the CorelationID of the first message. Then I want to get all the message from the Queue with the JMSCorrelationID same as that of the first messgae.i am using the Queuebrowser with message selector to achieve this. My problem is like this.. Even though I send 5 messages my QueueBrowser only shows he last 3 messages.I cant browse the contents of the second message. From the forum I found that the second message will be in the reads ahead stage. So the browser does not show it. Is there any way to browse the contents of the second message? Thanks in advance. From my point of view: 1) getCallerPrincipal will throw an exception in case you deploy your bean outside of a security domain; 2) in case your bean is stateless session bean, the EntityContext method getCallerPrincipal is prohibited to call inside ejbCreate or ejbRemove methods (see specification) again - it is only my personal opinion, and may be it is wrong. Thanks a lot for this fast reply :) and even better you are correct and fixed my error :) The problem is that I use AndroMDA (MDA generator) to create my beans and this tool creates a stateful session bean if attributes are given to the class. Unfortunately I removed all attributes (because I did not need them) and therefore a stateless session bean was created. I was not aware of the fact that I am not allowed to call the getCallerPrincipal() inside the ejbCreate() method in case of a stateless session bean. [JBoss-user] [JBoss.NET] - Re: Axis EJB provider not registered with JBoss 3.2.6
Correct, WS4EE is inherently stateless. This is because not every transport offers session maintanace. There are proposals under way to standardize the session maintanace at message level, which then would be transport independent. What one usually does is introduce an application specific header that contains the client's session id. The client then still talkes to a staless endpoint, which extracts the SOAP header and routes the request to a stateful component, i.e. SFSB View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3855338#3855338 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3855338 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: InterSystems CACHE FREE OODBMS DOWNLOAD - A multidimensional database that combines robust object and relational technologies, making it a perfect match for Java, C++,COM, XML, ODBC and JDBC. www.intersystems.com/match8 ___ JBoss-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/jboss-user

[JBoss-user] [Installation Configuration] - Re: uil2.SocketManager - exiting on unexpected error
What do you mean by reconnecting to a queue? Also, this is a problem with the server side JMS code, that you would have written. This could be a problem because of the proliferation of queue connections or queue sessions. If you are doing something like below, for every message you send back, then it's a problem: | System.out.println(Dispatching the result); | Context ctx = new InitialContext(); | QueueConnectionFactory factory = (QueueConnectionFactory)ctx.lookup(ConnectionFactory); | QueueConnection connection = factory.createQueueConnection(); | QueueSession session = connection.createQueueSession(false,Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE); | Message msg = session.createTextMessage(Reply from server); | | Queue queue = (Queue)ctx.lookup(myQueueName); | QueueSender sender = session.createSender(queue); | | System.out.println(Sending the message); | sender.send(msg); Instead, once you have created the queue connection and queue session, if it's the same sender to the same queue, then cache them and re use them while sending the message to the client via the jms queue. Hi, thanks for the answer. We don't use any self-written code on server side. I have only created one new durable topic: ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? depends optional-attribute-name=DestinationManagerjboss.mq:service=DestinationManager depends optional-attribute-name=SecurityManagerjboss.mq:service=SecurityManager Several clients are sending messages to this topic. With 10 or 20 clients, everything works fine. If I increase the size of clients (e.g. to 50 or 100) than I'll run into this outOfMemory error. Does anyone has an hint, how to configure more connections or threads? The system is running about 165 jboss threads when the error occurs. I don't know, how our client programmers have written the code. Is it possible, that they have forgotten to close a session or something else? [JBoss-user] [Installation Configuration] - Two webapps on different ports in one JBoss
Hi, We have two webapps named customer.war and admin.war At the moment both webapps run on Port 80 and is available to the WWW. Now, we had a discussion about the security. The conclusion was that we want to move the admin.war to a different Port (e.g. 81). After this action we could administrate the firewall that the Port 81 could only be reached from inside our company, other users from outside (WWW) will be blocked. For information, the firewall can only do such a rule on a port not on a specific url, therefor this port-question. So, my question is: Can I configure our JBoss, so that consumer.war is deployed to port 80 and the admin.war is only deployed to port 81 (in the same JBoss) ? Which xml I have to change ? http://www.domain.com/consumer - access from WWW http://www.domain.com:81/admin - access only from inside company (due to firewall rule) Best Regards, Mario View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3855388#3855388 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3855388 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: InterSystems CACHE FREE OODBMS DOWNLOAD - A multidimensional database that combines robust object and relational technologies, making it a perfect match for Java, C++,COM, XML, ODBC and JDBC. www.intersystems.com/match8 ___ JBoss-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/jboss-user

[JBoss-user] [JCA/JBoss] - ClassCastException using Oracle 9i DataSource
Hi, I'm getting what appears to be a class loader problem when using an Oracle data source in JBoss 4.0.0. When using direct connections, I don't get any errors. On other app servers, I don't get any errors. I have copied the Oracle JDBC driver into the shared lib directory, excluded it from my .ear file, and I don't have any other applications deployed to the same server. The error only happens when saving some CLOB data (I can perform other queries or updates fine). It's deep within the Oracle driver code, but I assume it's trying to cast the connection to an OracleConnection. The error is: 2004-11-16 17:02:24,196 ERROR [org.jboss.web.localhost.Engine] StandardWrapperVa lve[saveXmlObject]: Servlet.service() for servlet saveXmlObject threw exception java.lang.ClassCastException at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection.physicalConnectionWithin(OracleConnection.java:5174) at oracle.sql.CLOB.createTemporary(CLOB.java:1009) at oracle.sql.CLOB.createTemporary(CLOB.java:956) at com.abmuk.oms.core.common.database.DBUtils.getTemporaryClob(DBUtils.java:252) I'd expect to get this error if the Oracle classes were being loaded twice (once by the JNDI code, once in my application), but I can't see how that would be happening. My datasources seem to be fine (I can do other read and writes) but for completeness it's here: ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? local-tx-datasource jndi-namereadonly/jndi-name connection-url jdbc:oracle:thin:@abmlindev:1522:omsdev /connection-url driver-classoracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver/driver-class /local-tx-datasource local-tx-datasource jndi-namewriteable/jndi-name connection-url jdbc:oracle:thin:@abmlindev:1522:omsdev /connection-url driver-classoracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver/driver-class /local-tx-datasource (The username and password is set inside the application). [JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets JSP] - Re: Fully Functional Tomcat
The project I am currently working on, has a bunch of servlets running in a standalone Tomcat 4.1 container. My government contacts want me to add these servlets to another project where we are building from a developed web framework that uses JBoss 3.2.3 as its server. The agency who developed the framework choose 3.2.3 becuase all there government contacts are using Tomcat 4.1 elsewhere. That being said, how does my question apply to later versions of JBoss? I asked the question becuase code which is supposed to execute on servlet shutdown does not execute, when the JBoss server is shutdown. Tomcat is supposed to call the destory method of all servlets contained therein on shutdown. [JBoss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Custom handling with BASIC authentication
This is actually spawning from a thread I started in JBossWS, but now it is more appropriate to be located in this forum. (original: http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopict=56550). I still don't understand quite yet. I have three questions. 1. What documentation exists that explains how to write a custom security interceptor? 2. Can I use BASIC authentication with a custom security interceptor? 3. Finally, where do I find documentation on SecurityProxy? I have checked the Wiki, there doesn't appear to be anything there on these. Also, I've read the very solid HOWTO documentation, linked from the Wiki, but that explicitly reads: anonymous wrote : The security-proxy element identifies a custom security interceptor that allows per-request security checks outside the scope of the EJB declarative security model without embedding security logic into the EJB implementation. I won't go into detail about that JBoss-specific feature, as this article focuses on using JAAS to implement the standard declarative security model. I would really like to find documentation on this feature, and it's availability with BASIC authentication. [JBoss-user] [Persistence CMP/JBoss] - ApplicationDeadlockException
I am getting frequent deadlock exceptions. Though this doesn't actually cause problems on the client side, it actually slows things down a lot. Now I access all the data through a SLSB facade which then creates a SFSB session facade (which does validation checking), which accesses the entity beans. I can see in the stack trace where things are going wrong (client call to get the value object), but this actually is so fast that I cannot understand the 5s delays I am getting. According to the logs, it seems I have two processes asking the same thing at the same time (I get the errors double in the log). Now they do things in the same order (s it is identical code), so how can there be a deadlock? Questions how can I go about fixing this problem? I have looked at the stacktrace over and over, and it does not help me much. Is there a way to get more info regarding this problems (which bit needs the trace logging). Is there a way to make the delay from the dealock smaller? Ok ... I finally get it. Chris is referring to using the constructor for an XMBean, not the constructor for his xmbean class. To do this, you pass an instance of your mbean (subclass of ServiceMBeanSupport) as the resource to the XMBean construtor and a url to the xml descriptor file.
