[JBoss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Return From Nested Conversation and Last Element of @DataMod
Hi, When I return from a nested conversation (via its @End method) to the higher level and inside the nested conversation I've added a new element to the @DataModel of the parent conversation (e.g. A subconversation that adds elements to the list), and when this newly added element is the LAST one in the data-model list (what a long situation:), then it is SHOWN but the first click on the element does NOTHING. I've to click on it twice to invoke the related action method. Well, I'm sorry that the situation to regenerate this case is a bit long but it's a matter that should be solved... I dono whether this is a bug of my application or Seam. but i guess it is some how related to seam since when I place the newly added element somewhere else in the @DataModel list then it works. I decided to return to the dady's list page with but that one does not solve it too. A lot of the jars from the main lib directory as well as some from the embedded-ejb example got removed. Hi, I knew the jbossws-1.0.0.CR6 is not yet ready. My current downloaded version is JBOSS 4.0.4CR2. I am thinking to use the new JBOSSWS instead of WS4EE, but I have a very tight schedule to complete the task. Since JBOSS4.0.4CR2 is not including the WSTOOLS and the JBOSSWS user guide is also not completed (at least the WSTOOLS part in the appendix). May I know when will you release a more complete version, a version that includes WSTOOLS and able to create a good EndPoint using it? [JBoss-user] [The Lizzard's corner] - Re: BusinessWeek - Oracle buying JBoss
Dave, I would be concerned with any purchase including Redhat. Oracle has a somewhat less than stellar performance record with J2EE engines. Their purchase would be to control the technology. BEA and IBM would have been better off to have bought and buried JBoss a long time ago. JBoss while profiting little has cost them BILLIONS. It is extremely difficult to justify purchasing a company to bury it though. Microsoft in the end may be the big loser here. RAMJ is a terrific stack when packaged with software...something like SugarCRM will be able to packaged a DVD ready to go..OS, servers, software, voila. Redhat could still be problematic in that they have to leverage the purchase of JBoss. While on its own, JBoss answered to the customers, now they answer to Redhat before the customers. Being public is a terrible burden and has buried as many companies as anything else. But, you are right Dave, Redhat has it in its interest to build up and promote and make JBoss stronger...Oracle has no such need. Please take a look at the getting started wiki: http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JbpmGettingStarted You are listing out the variable names in the process definition, and they are stored in the jBPM database when the process is deployed. The web app reads in what the variable names are for the particular task that is being worked, and displays fields for them on the form. Yes, that is exactly how jBPM works. The jBPM engine manages the process state, and will call to your J2EE application logic through actions that you setup. [JBoss-user] [EJB 3.0] - @Local and @Remote version of the same interface?
The calculator example in the tutorial looks like this: | public interface Calculator | { | ... | } | | @Local public interface CalculatorLocal extends Calculator {} | | @Remote public interface CalculatorRemote extends Calculator {} | | @Stateless public class CalculatorBean implements CalculatorLocal, CalculatorRemote | { | ... | } | The idea being, as a client, you choose whether or not to use the Local or Remote version of the interface. Why would you ever want a bean with identical Local and Remote interfaces? I understand why you might want a bean with a Local interface only to prevent access from outside the JVM. But since JBoss optimizes a Remote call when in-process, what advantage does the above example have over: | @Remote public interface Calculator | { | ... | } | | @Stateless public class CalculatorBean implements Calculator | { | ... | } | ? If there is no advantage, it seems like the general rule of thumb for development should be using a single interface, with either @Local if it should be local-only, or @Remote if it should be local-or-remote. [JBoss-user] [JBoss/Spring Integration] - JBoss Hibernate+Spring Application Deployment (JNDI Problem)
Hi to all, I'm not able to deploy my Application in JBoss. I use the JMX (Hibernate MBean) and Spring. I created a folder called pronego.ear containing the META-INF and pronego.war folders. Inside the META-INF exists the file jboss-service.xml which creates the MBean: | | | java:/ProNegoDataSource | java:/pronego/hibernate/SessionFactory | org.hibernate.dialect.MySQLInnoDBDialect | org.hibernate.cache.HashtableCacheProvider | update | true | true | | | To use together with Spring I have the file applicationContext.xml inside of pronego.ear/pronego.war/WEB-INF with the following lines: | | java:/pronego/hibernate/SessionFactory | | As you can see there should be two objects located in JNDI (datasource and sessionfactory). During deployment it seems that the datasource is registered in JNDI correctly. But the sessionfactory will be retrieved before it is registered in JNDI. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: Method not found: isJndiName
Ok, maybe I'm just not getting something here- I'm trying to do a simple reverse engineer/code generate as shown in the flash demo like others on this post. I originally got the Method not found: isJndiName error, so I tried updating to the nightly builds as suggested. Now, I get the following error when trying to generate the code: org.hibernate.tool.hbm2x.ExporterException: Error while processing template seam/find.jsp.ftl | freemarker.core.InvalidReferenceException: Expression field.value.typeName is undefined on line 35, column 6 in seam/find.jsp.ftl. | freemarker.core.InvalidReferenceException: Expression field.value.typeName is undefined on line 35, column 6 in seam/find.jsp.ftl. Here's what I've tried (I downloaded, installed, deactivated old and activated new for each nightly listed below in eclipse 3.1.2 using the Help > Manage Configuration tool then doing a "Replace with Another Version") HibernateTools-3.1.0.200603231613-nightly.zip HibernateTools-3.1.0.200604061020-nightly.zip HibernateTools-3.1.0.200604141131-nightly.zip Figuring maybe I had some sort of conflict or Eclipse wasn't updating properly (the above described method should work for this purpose, no?), I finally unzipped a brand spanking new version of eclipse 3.1.2, and installed *ONLY* JBossIDE-200604061020-nightly-ALL.zip as suggested and which several others had previously posted they had gotten working. Still get the same error, and I'm pretty sure I'm following the flash demo exactly. I also tried generating code with and without the "Generate EJB3 Annotations" checked, and same result either way. Not that it should make a difference, but I'm using PostgreSQL- it seems there might be an issue with incorrect values in the persistence.properties file, but now I can't even get that far... Any help or pointers would be appreciated, thanks in advance View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3937477#3937477 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3937477 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. [JBoss-user] [Javassist user questions] - easy way to parse out opcode operands?
Total javassist/bytecode newbie here. I'm writing a program to list bytecode instructions from a classfile, akin to what "javap -c -p CLASSFILE" gives you. Somthing like: 0: aload_0 1: invokespecial #15; //Method java/lang/O 4: aload_0 5: ldc2_w #16; //double 99.0d 8: putfield#19; //Field size:D This snippet from the tutorial lists the index & opcodes but no operands: CodeIterator ci = ... ; while (ci.hasNext()) { int index = ci.next(); int op = ci.byteAt(index); System.out.println(index + ": " +Mnemonic.OPCODE[op]); } Result of this code is something like: 0: aload_0 1: invokespecial<--no operand!!! 4: aload_0 5: ldc2_w <--no operand!!! The "hasNext" call seems to move the iterator to the next opcode, skipping past operands. So how do I parse out operands for things like control flow or method call opcodes? Since # of operands varies based on the particular opcode, is there an easy way to know how many bytes to parse out per instruction? I have followed the wiki regarding Repository Selectors for initialising log4j, and have got it working for my web apps. However when I try and log from inside a servlet filter the logging does not get executed at all. The filter is one to determine if a user is logged in, and if not redirect to the login page. This is working as the redirection happens properly. However the logging is not. This works: | public class InitServlet | extends HttpServlet { | | private static Logger log; | | public void init(ServletConfig config) | throws ServletException { | super.init(config); | | ServletContext context = config.getServletContext(); | | System.setProperty("log4j.log.dir", getInitParameter("log4j.log_directory")); | | String configFile = getInitParameter("log4j.config_file"); | | Log4JRepositorySelector.init(config, configFile); | log = Logger.getLogger(getClass()); | | log.debug("logging initialised"); | | [snip] | } | } | This doesn't work: | public class LoginFilter | implements Filter { | | private Logger log = Logger.getLogger(getClass()); | | public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) | throws IOException, ServletException { | HttpServletRequest req = (HttpServletRequest)request; | | log.debug("uri = " + req.getRequestURI()); | | [snip] | | // otherwise continue | chain.doFilter(request, response); | } | } | Can someone shed some light on this please? I would lke to add two more things that are confusing: 1) I don't have my.lib in ext/lib of my current JRE. I'm deploying it as a standalone jar file in $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy. 2) I wasn't sure if the Extension-List attribute only causes the ClassLoaders to look in ext/lib or any well known location. If its the former than this a real serious error since deployment should die after it can't find the Extension-List in my.jar EJB3 module of my.ear. If its the latter, then my first post stands. Deployment should fail since the implementation version is wrong. Shouldn't this fail with a java Exceptino at load/runtime with NoClassDefFound for all the classes defined in my-lib version 1.0 since the implementation version is 2.0? Thanks! [JBoss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Re: Entity Bean Foreign Key Problem, Need to Specify PK leng
I've found that the problem is determining the primary key of my CatsDogs class. I want my combined primary key to be the primary key of Cats and the primary key of Dogs. I changed my code to: | @ManyToOne(optional=false) | @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn(name="cats_id",referencedColumnName="id") | public Cats getCats() | { | return cats; | } | | @ManyToOne(optional=false) | @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn(name="dogs_id",referencedColumnName="id") | public Dogs getDogs() | { | return dogs; | } | However then JBoss complains that there is no primary key for this class. If I add @Id tags to the above methods, I get the same error posted above. So, apparently the only solution is to add an additional ID field for the CatsDogs class that would be the primary key. It would then look like: | @Id | public int getId() | { |return id; | } | ... | @ManyToOne(optional=false) | @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn(name="cats_id",referencedColumnName="id") | public Cats getCats() | { | return cats; | } | ... | @ManyToOne(optional=false) | @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn(name="dogs_id",referencedColumnName="id") | public Dogs getDogs() | { | return dogs; | } | | This would take my database out of Third Normal Form and I don't want to do that. Does anyone know how to fix this problem??? Thanks! certainly its possible, jBPM is a business process engine, and you can communicate to it using your application. As I mentioned in another thread http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=81129 , JBoss SEAM can help with this kind of use case as well. [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - JMS, EJB3 annotation MBeans- onMessage not firing
I have probably missed a setup. This is my first EJB3 MBean. Enviroment: JBoss 4.0.3SP1, Win 2003, JDK 5.0_06, with EJB3 - jboss-EJB-3.0_RC5-PFD First: I know the messages are being queued properly because I can read them 'manually' with Message received = receiver.receive(); // blocks until message arrives I think this rules out a problem in jbossmq-destinations-service.xml. Right? I installed the EJB3 per instructions I created both a topic and a queue I used the annotation to setup the target MBean Doesn't the annotation automatically register the MBean as a listener/consumer target and deploy the MBean? How do I confirm it was deployed as it should be? I used this: http://trailblazer.demo.jboss.com/EJB3Trail/serviceobjects/mdb/ as a starting point. So my source has an onMessage method and this shown next for the EJB3 annotations @MessageDriven(activationConfig = { @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName="destinationType", propertyValue="javax.jms.Topic"), @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName="destination", propertyValue="topic/swevent") }) public class EventMonitor implements MessageListener { @Resource MessageDrivenContext msgDrivCtx; ... .. Besides setting up the queue or topic (I tried both) and using the the annotations what else do I need to do? I get no errors or warnings of any kind. I just never get a message delivery to the MBean. I can read the messages manually. For java service endpoints this descriptor should be located in WEB-INF/ws4ee-deployment.xml. So, I have a type mapping just like from the wiki in my ws4ee-deployment.xml, and I included that file in the WEB-INF of my war AND I tried putting it in the META-INF of my war (as you can see I don't really understand the quote above), but in either case I still get a No serializer found for class com.internap.webdns.User in registry [EMAIL PROTECTED] exception when I try to serialize a bean across the web service. Where exactly does the ws4ee xml file go? I don't need this file to be referenced in the wscomiple or wsdeploy steps, right, I mean it's a jboss thing? is there somewhere else I need to refer to my own complex types? It looks like this should be it, but somehow it's not being picked up by the web service registry. [JBoss-user] [Installation, Configuration & Deployment] - Anyway to use my own optional libraries with a deployed JAR?
I have jar that is shared across EARs. It uses dom4j with XPath, i.e. needs jaxen. I put Class-Path entries to add my own packaged versions but I believe due to the way the UCL works, it still picking them up from $JBOSS_HOME/lib/dom4j.jar since this jar gets loaded first at startup. Is there anyway around this? I thought java2Parent delegation is on a per EAR basis, not JARs. I'm trying to avoid if possible from replacing the dom4j.jar file and adding extra libraries in server/default/lib which have scope across everything (its not that bad, but if I can avoid it, I want to). Tom, the format of the persistence.xml changed. The persistence unit is no longer automatically stored in JNDI. The following file works for me: | | | java:jdbc/WebappSample | | | | | | | | | | | Somewhere in the EJB3 WIKI a description of all changes (Hibernate EntityManager) can be found. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: Simple Seam Question...
Okay, I actually made some progress. My issue appears to be that in my action of the commandLink, I'm using a transition via jPDL (action="next") in order to flow to the next page. In that case, my @ModelSelection is not being updated. If I create a dummy method, public String select() and make sure that my commandLink invokes that, then the model selection IS being updated but I lose my navigation to the next page (of course). Ideas? Suggestions? j View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3937409#3937409 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3937409 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. I'm not sure if either of you (Heiko, Thomas) are watching this thread, but I need to know for sure if you think this is already fixed in 4.0.4CR2 or if it still needs to be fixed and the fix will be included in 4.0.4GA. I'm trying to roll something out to production and I can't with 4.0.3SP1 because Axis is too slow. I need to know if the 4.0.4GA release will solve all of my issues and I can roll out on it or if I'm going to have to make alternate plans. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Eclipse IDE (users)] - develop and deploy ejb3.0/seam - Application in Eclipse3.1/J
I followed the howto which I found on the wiki "http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=UseJBossEclipseIDEToDoJBossSeamsBookingExample"; for debugging the Booking example application inside eclipse. The author of the page describes how you can debug the example by just importing the Java -sources in a project in workspace. The whole application (the sources which are imported in eclipse and the rest of the application) resides in a war file in the JBoss deploy directory. So if I change a java class in eclipse, I have to ensure that ant takes the changed source file out of the eclipse-workspace while compiling the classes and building+deploying the .ear - file. I would like to manage the whole application in eclipse. The tutorial on "http://docs.jboss.com/jbosside/tutorial/build/en/html/index.html"; describes how to build and manage a J2EE 1.4 - application with JBossIde. I tried both JBossIde1.5 and WTP1.0.2RC1. Does anyone build EJB3.0/Seam - applications with the help of eclipse managing the whole application in the IDE? Help would greatly be appreciated. [JBoss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Using a Stateless Session Bean to call an Entity Bean...
In short, I'm having a problem persisting objects using a Stateless Session Bean, calling a factory, that calls another POJO, which makes a call on an entity manager. The problem is in my create method in my UserBusiness object. Here is my Code: My stateless bean: -- package com.medq.platform.enterprise; import javax.ejb.Stateless; import javax.ejb.Interceptors; import com.medq.platform.user.IUser; import com.medq.platform.user.UserFactory; /** * Service Object Bean Implementation for EnterpriseService. * */ @Stateless @Interceptors (com.medq.platform.service.interceptor.ServiceInterceptor.class) public class EnterpriseServiceBean implements EnterpriseServiceRemote { public void createUser(IUser user) { UserFactory uf = new UserFactory(); try { uf.create(user); }catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } --- My factory object package com.medq.platform.user; import com.medq.platform.exception.*; /** * Value Object Factory for User. * */ public class UserFactory { private IUserBusiness bizObject; /* * UserFactory Constructor */ public UserFactory() { this.bizObject = new UserBusiness(); } //Generic Methods /* * Creates a User. */ public IUser create(IUser vo) throws ApplicationException, BusinessException { return this.bizObject.create(vo); } } And now the POJO that uses the entity manager... package com.medq.platform.user; import javax.persistence.*; import com.medq.platform.exception.*; import java.util.*; /** * Business Object Implementation for User. * */ public class UserBusiness extends AbstractUserBusiness { //Constructor public UserBusiness() { super(); emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("pu1", new HashMap()); em = emf.createEntityManager(PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED); } private EntityManager em; private EntityManagerFactory emf; //Generic Methods /* * Creates a User. */ public IUser create(IUser vo) throws ApplicationException, BusinessException { em.getTransaction().begin(); em.persist(vo); em.getTransaction().commit(); return vo; } public void destroy() { em.close(); emf.close(); } } Here's where the problem comes in...when my create() in UserBusiness is this: em.getTransaction().begin(); em.persist(vo); em.getTransaction().commit(); I get org.hibernate.PersistentObjectException: detached entity passed to persist: com.medq.platform.user.User. The object does seem to persist, but I'm getting this exception. Is there any way to make this problem go away?? I have tried a bunch of stuff, but obviously, I'm missing something. My goal (down the road) is for the Stateless Session Bean to make a bunch of calls to Factories that make calls on an entity manager (actually calls on another object, i.e. UserBusiness, that makes a call on the entity manager) . I want to rollback all of the transactions if one goes bad, and I have a feeling the way I have it set up, it won't work. Any ideas? My first objective is to get this exception to go away...next is to find out how to rollback all the transactions done from the SSB. Thanks in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. --Andrew View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3937403#3937403 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3937403 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. [JBoss-user] [JCA/JBoss] - Jboss 3.2.6 and Informix problems with using multi xa dataso
My English is so poor, so I try my best to describle my problem in simple English sentence, Sorry.:) I have two informix database on one AIX OS Server, and I have added JBoss 3.2.x XA JCA file in "jboss-home/server/default/deploy/informix_xa_ds.xml" and configured two xa datasource in this file. My stateless Session EJB's transation type is "Container", transaction attribute is "Required". If I lookup two datasources througth two jndi which have been configured in informix_xa_ds.xml file , The first "datasource.getConnection()" method can get connection success, but The second datasource "getConnection()" failed (wait a long long time, > 1 hour, then it timeout)(the two method run in one ejb container transaction). If I lookup one datasource seperately(in two container transaction), two database connection can get successed. if two informix database on two AIX OS Server , the all is right, two connection can be get success in one transation and two transation. if i change my session ejb transation type to "Bean", The all is right also. two connection can be get success in one transation and two transation. in one sentence to say: Can not get multi(>1) connections througth xa datasource when multi informix database in one server and session ejb transaction type is "Container". [JBoss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: to use display tag how to set portlet objects in JSP pag
Bhim, Ok, I understand the problem now. I'm sorry if I sent you down a wrong path initially. In the Portlet Spec, section 16.3.2 lists 3 request attributes that must be provided by the portal environment when the PortletRequestDispatcher.include method is used to include a servlet or JSP. The 3 attributes are javax.portlet.config (the PortletConfig object), javax.portlet.request (the RenderRequest) and javax.portlet.response (the RenderResponse). So it seems that the 2 attributes you need are provided automatically by any JSR-168 compliant portal provided you are using the PortletRequestDispatcher to include the JSP. Just to test this with JBoss Portal, I wrote a portlet that includes a JSP. Here is the entire JSP: | <% | Object req = pageContext.findAttribute("javax.portlet.request"); | Object resp = pageContext.findAttribute("javax.portlet.response"); | %> | Request: <%= req %> | Response: <%= resp %> | and here's the output I get: | Request: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Response: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | So it appears to work correctly and you don't have to do anything. The defineObjects tag is not necessary. [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - Need Help with Rollback issue and message re-try
Hi All, I am not able to figure out why my messages are not being sent back to the queue on a session rollback. I am not using MDB's. Following is how I am setting up my connection to a Topic //ConnectionFactory (using TopicConnectionFactory) TopicConnection connection = connectionFactory.createTopicConnection(username, password); connection.setClientID(clientId); TopicSession session = connection.createTopicSession(true,0); TopicSubscriber subscriber = session.createDurableSubscriber(topic, subscriptionName); In a while loop, I have the call to receive messages: Message msg = subscriber.receive(1000); after receiving a message, I process it, and call session.commit(). But, if I run into problems while processing the message, I am calling session.rollback(). But, I don't see the messages being persisted back into the db table (JMS_MESSAGES) after the call to session.rollback(). I was hoping that they would be, so that when the consumer is re-started, these messages can be re-delivered. What could be going wrong? I thought that if I create a topic session with 'transacted' set to true, I will be able to restore messages in case of processing errors... Also, in the above situation, how can I configure the number of 're-try' attempts? In an MDB, one can do that in the deployment descriptor...but, in a situation like the one above, how do I tell the messaging server to 're-try' 3 or 4 times, before sending the message to DLQ Please help! [JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: jbpm workflow editor
I agree. We have partners and customers here at JBoss that are doing the same type of thing. They built rules on top of jBPM that the users can modify, but the underlying process does not change. Once we integrate JBoss Rules and jBPM, this will be very straightforward. It can still be done in today's world, just requires a little more work.
