[JOYnet] Today is Welchy's Birthday

2003-01-14 Thread Jason :)
When I see Lovely sending in those welcome note it reminds me of an
Ex-Joynetter, Welchy Fernandes. Many of us who have been a part of Joynet for
over a year have surely heard of her. Today is Welchy's Birthday and her email
id is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Since our own Mathew Joseph and Ron (who is a part of JY Coimbatore and a
friend of our own Joynetter Shobith) were in town, we all needed an excuse to
meet. Ever since I met Welchy I have come across real wonderful ppl like Ravi
Vaz, Jennifer etc.

Welchy had decided her birthday would be a lovely timing for us to meet. For
convenience sake, her birthday was celebrated this Sunday the 12th at my
place. Since my Mother's birthday was on the 9th of this month, both the
birthdays were celebrated together. Since Ravi, Jennifer, Welchy, my brother
and myself are all resident of Mumbai we had already met each other before on
quite a few occassions. But this time Meeting Mathew Joseph and Ron was an
added excitement.

It was really an evening of excitement. The evening started off with Welchy
arriving the earliest of all followed by Ron and then Ravi, Jennifer and
Mathew Joseph together. Let me tell you guys there is never a dull moment with
Ravi around and it was purely evident. Since Ravi being a Word Minister has
studied the Word of God in detail and still does he is so full of revelation
on the Word of God that all listeners have their jaws dropped in silence.

So the evening kicked off with Ravi exploring various texts on Word of God
with us. Ron then gave his heart rendering testimony on how he entered into
the Jesus Youth and gave us an insight on wonderman Shobith. Jennifer, Welchy
and myself were able to share on how much Joynet means to us and how much it
helped us.

After one and half hours of sharing we decided to involve ourselves in Prayer.
Mathew Joseph first lead the proceeding followed by RAvi. It was simply
wonderful. It lasted for about 45 mins and yet I yearned for more. After that
we had Welchy and my Mom cutting the cake and with us all singing.

We again continued sharing part and parcels of our lives. It was then that we
got to know something so valuable. MATHEW JOSEPH is the FOUNDER OF JOYNET. We
just couldnt believe that a person so handsome yet so humble who changed so
many lives including ours was actually sitting amongst the 7 of us Joynetters.
It was real blissful for us that he was present alongwith us. It was like we
owed the evening to him as well because if he had taken the initiative years
ago we wouldnt have had Joynet. And if there was no Joynet there would be no
meeting on this Sunday the 12th.

The evening ended with Dinner and then a walk to the nearby station as they
all went to their abode.

On the way back home my brother and myself kept thanking the Lord for such a
wonderful evening. Even though there were only 7 of us from Joynet yet it
meant so much.

Anyways guys do Wish Welchy on her birthday. May God Bless her. May God bless
us all.

urs in faith

Lord, I do not know what to ask of You.
You know what I need.
You love me better than I know how to love myself.
O Heavenly Father, give to me what I know not how to ask or dare not ask.
I open my heart to You.
Take my needs and do according to Your mercy.
Do with me what You will.
I will be silent. I offer myself to You.
I accept Your will. Lord, teach me how to pray. Amen.

[JOYnet] Is anything impossible for God?

2003-01-14 Thread Jennifer
Hello Friends,

Christ is my best friend and I can say this because of what He has done in my
life. I hurt Him, denied Him but He never left me. I always asked and He
never stopped giving. Jesus is that way.for me He is the Shepherd who
with His stick disciplines whenever we go away from Him on a wrong path. And
Who by His love fondles me and embraces me whenever I am hurt and in pain. He
is the Shepherd of my soul and my soul thirsts for Him.

He is perfect but I am not and He knows that and so He loves me just the way I
am and even when I falter I know, I can still go to my Lord, Who will cleanse
me and accept me and take away all my sins.

I donno why I am sharing this with you all. But as I was reading this story,
I was deeply touched. A child who for the first time hears the story of
Christmas gives himself so completely to the Lord. This is the power of the
Love of Christ which makes everyone His own. And those sinners who receive
His love are transformed and become His powerful instruments in giving His
love to all. It's the love of God alone that can transform a hardened sinner.

God's love is unconditional and this is the ultimate truth. And those who
tastes His love becomes His forever and nothing can seperate us then from
Him..NOTHING.

There are so many who have not yet heard about Jesus Christ and as Christians
it is our duty to tell others about Jesus Who loves everyone.

May Christ give us the strenght to be His witnesses.

Manger Story

In 1994, two Americans answered an invitation from the Russian Department
of Education to teach morals and ethics based on biblical principles) in the
public schools. They were invited to teach at prisons, businesses, the fire
and police departments and a large orphanage. About 100 boys and girls who
had been abandoned, abused, and left in the care of a government-run
program were in the orphanage.

They relate the following story in their own words:
It was nearing the holiday season, 1994, time for our orphans to hear, for
the first time, the traditional story of Christmas.
We told them about Mary and Joseph arriving in Bethlehem. Finding no room in
the inn, the couple
went to a stable, where the baby Jesus was born and placed in a manger.

Throughout the story, the children and orphanage staff sat in amazement as
they listened. Some sat on the edges of their stools, trying to grasp every
word. Completing the story, we gave the children three small pieces of
cardboard to make a crude manger. Each child was given a small paper
square, cut from yellow napkins I had brought with me. No colored paper was
available in the city. Following instructions, the children tore the paper
and carefully laid strips in the manger for straw. Small squares of
flannel, cut from a worn-out nightgown an American lady was throwing away as
she
left Russia, were used for the baby's blanket. A doll-like
baby was cut from tan felt we had brought from the United States. The
orphans were busy assembling their manger as I walked among them to see if
they needed any help.

All went well until I got to one table where little
Misha sat. He looked to be about 6 years old and had finished his project.
As I looked at the little boy's manger, I was startled to see not one, but two
babies in
the manger. Quickly, I called for the translator to ask the lad why there
were two babies in the manger. Crossing his arms in front of him and
looking at this completed manger scene, the child began to repeat the story
very
seriously. For such a young boy, who had only heard the Christmas story
once, he related the happenings accurately-until he came to the part where
Mary put the baby Jesus in the manger. Then Misha started to ad-lib. He
made up his own ending to the story as he said, "And when Maria laid the baby
in
the manger, Jesus looked at me and asked me if I had a place to stay. I
told him I have no mamma and I have no papa, so I don't have any place to
stay. Then, Jesus told me I could stay with him. But I told him I couldn't,
because I didn't have a gift to give him like everybody else did." But I
wanted to stay with Jesus so much, so I thought about what I had that maybe
I could use for a gift. I thought maybe if I kept him warm, that would be a
good gift. So I asked Jesus, "If I keep you warm, will that
be a good enough gift?" And Jesus told me, "If you keep me warm, that will
be the best gift anybody ever gave me." "So I got into the manger, and then
Jesus looked at me and he told me I could stay with him---for always." As
little
Misha finished his story, his eyes brimmed full of tears that splashed down
his little cheeks. Putting his hand over his face, his head dropped to the
table and his shoulders shook as he sobbed and sobbed. The little orphan
had found someone who would never abandon nor abuse him, someone who would
stay
with him - FOR ALWAYS. I've learned that it's not what you have in your
life, but who you have in your life that counts.

[JOYnet] Which is the greatest miracle Jesus ever performed?

2003-01-14 Thread Bensi Chacko
Dear Friends,

Which is the greatest miracle do you think that Jesus ever performed?

Is it raising Lazarus from dead? Or is it turning water into wine? Or is
it multiplying 5 loves of bread and feed 5000? Or is it walking over the
water?Or is it giving sight to a man who born blind? Or is it curing the
leprous? Or is it driving out demons?

There is a greatest miracle, which Jesus ever performed, is performing
and will perform.

Can you guess what?

That is His promise to Peter. Yes the greatest miracle Jesus ever
performed is the Catholic Church, which is having 2003 years of history.
Many media men in US were shouting and wishing to see an end of the
Catholic Church. But listen; long after those media persons were gone to
soil, the Catholic Church will be there to proclaim the truth, till the
end of the world.  Because it is His Church and it has His promise that.
The gates of hell will not be prevailed against it. And He will be with
the Church till the end of the ages.

Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth
has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And
behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."  Mathew

[JOYnet] God ,How are u?

2003-01-14 Thread deepak
see this beautiful dream someone had .i wish it was me .

I dreamed I had an interview with God.
"Come in," God said. "So, you would like to interview Me?"

"If you have the time," I said.

  God smiled and said:
"My time is eternity and is enough to do everything; what questions do you
have in mind to ask me?"

"What surprises you most about mankind?"

  God answered:
"That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then
long to be children again.

That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to
restore their health.

That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such
that they live neither for the present nor the future.

That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never
lived..."

God's hands took mine and we were silent for while and then I asked...

"As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to
learn?"

  God replied with a smile:
"To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is to let
themselves be loved.

To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives,
but who they have in their lives.

To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. All will be
judged individually on their own merits, not as a group on a comparison basis.

To learn that a rich person is not the one who has the most, but is one who
needs the least.

To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons
we love, and that it takes many years to heal them.

To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.

To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not
know how to express or show their feelings.

To learn that money can buy everything but happiness.

To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it totally
different.

To learn that a true friend in someone who knows everything about them...and
likes them anyway.

To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but
that they have to forgive themselves."

I sat there for awhile enjoying the moment. I thanked Him for his time and
for all that He has done for me and my family, and He replied, "Anytime. I'm
here 24 hours a day. All you have to do is ask for me, and I'll answer."

People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did,
  but people will never forget
  how you made them feel.

Thinking of you and wishing you a wonderful day touched with beauty in Jesus
christ

Re: [JOYnet] RE: Joynet Prayer Day: a suggestion

2003-01-14 Thread Kurian Nellikunnel
Hi All,
All the suggestions about the prayer day are good.
It is good to keep the prayer going for a week.
Last Friday of the month is a very good suggestion.
Regarding the prayer itself:
We could pray the Rosary, Chaplet of Mercy, pray the prayer of Jesus in Jn:
17:20-26., pray in tongues and/or the prayer that was prepared last month.
As far as fasting goes, you do not have to increase the number of days, just add
this intention also for your fasting day. Also, we could fast other things, like our
addictions, TV etc.
How I wish if we had JoyNet intercession prayer every day! The problem is, can we
keep up the zeal without fading? That is the only problem. When things get routine,
people tend to loose the focus. Any way, I would rather support Meena than oppose.
Others please give your views and let us come to a consensus, that is according to
His dreams.
Regarding the intentions, my opinion is that we should select world situations as
well as problems people face in their lives as Meena has suggested. It is good to
add some finite and visible causes also once in while, so that we can see the
results materializing. That will strengthen our faith and help us to keep in focus.
Thank you,
Yours in Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
Kurian Nellikunnel, New Jersey, USA

P.S. Here is an extract of the message from His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar
Cleemis regarding the prayer day:
"Thank you very much for your prompt response to invite all for the
prayer regarding the full communion of the divided Churches in
Malankara. I am so happy to say that I shall join you all in that prayer
in spirit. I really appreciate your concern for the Church. It was
really a nice meeting with our youth yesterday. Please give my greetings
and blessings to Molly, George and John. God bless you all.
Yours lovingly in Our lord, Bishop Isaac Mar Cleemis."

2003-01-14 Thread Meena Mathew
Dear Joynet Friends
I agree that it will be a great idea to pray for a particular intention like
we did in December. But I also feel that it will be a good idea if we could
all on Joynet pray for a particular intention each week. Storm the
heavens.
For people who have abortion
For people who are into drugs and alcohol...
For those in prison.
For atheists
For children who are abused by their parents...

I am sure we can find many such people we can all pray for.

Dear Joynet friends

This is in connection with Kurian uncle's and Sanju's mails.

I would also like to state hereunder my opinion.

We selected a day and prayed on 20th of december '02. As sanju mentioned,
why
we cannot continue with this prayer once in a month. I will also suggest
that
"Once in month", and should be the same day, means last month it was 20, we
can fix a day on this month as suggested by kurian uncle i.e. 24th friday
of
this month, OR last friday of each month. We can do the same prayer of 20th
december and continue with that. (praye is added to our homepage)

we would like to know eachone of your opinion / suggestion.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

One good thing about praying together is that all
of us will become more and more united in the Spirit
of God. This prayer initiative is yet another step
towards it. Would like to mention that our prayer for
all our terrorists brothers did go well with the Lord
and there are subtle but powerful changes happening.
The longest insurgency problem in India is regarding
the Naga homeland in the North East. If you have taken
notice ; the NSCN leaders are in New Delhi now for
talks with L K Advani(the Home Minister) and they are
looking for peace. Well, I believe in faith that it is
bcos of our prayers. Amen.

Just some suggestions regarding the Joynet prayer
days(these are personal views) :

1. Can our Prayer days be once in a month or once in 2
months ? This is bcos most of us already have fasting
commitments once or twice a week.

2. Can the prayer initiatives also be driven by the
Events in the world or our country ? So that depending
on the need of the hour all of us can unite and pray.

3. It would also be good that we do not limit the
prayer to a single day. It will be great if the same
prayer is repeated over a period of one week. Bcos
some of the problems are so big that it requires an
on-going prayer support(say terrorism/wars). However
let this not be the thumbrule as all of us will not be
able to unite in prayer for the entire week at the
same time.

Love and Prayers

Sanju Joseph.

[JOYnet] RE: Joynet Prayer Day: a suggestion

2003-01-14 Thread Primeson James
Dear Joynet friends

This is in connection with Kurian uncle's and Sanju's mails.

I would also like to state hereunder my opinion.

We selected a day and prayed on 20th of december '02. As sanju mentioned, why
we cannot continue with this prayer once in a month. I will also suggest that
"Once in month", and should be the same day, means last month it was 20, we
can fix a day on this month as suggested by kurian uncle i.e. 24th friday of
this month, OR last friday of each month. We can do the same prayer of 20th
december and continue with that. (praye is added to our homepage)

we would like to know eachone of your opinion / suggestion.

with prayer

Subject: Re: [JOYnet] Joynet Prayer Day: a suggestion

Amen.

Just some suggestions regarding the Joynet prayer
days(these are personal views) :
