Do you have the "Mount this directory before backing up" checkbox marked or
not? In case your USB drive is auto-mounted, mounting does not work. If the
aforementioned option is on, turn it off and check what happens.

Thanks for pointing that out. It must have slipped through when doing those
product code consolidations recently.

Yes, that already happened, but a release with that change is not out yet.

Please use the generic 'kmymoney' on b.k.o (short for bugs.kde.org) to report
problems/wishes in the meantime. It is available as a shortcut on kmymoney.org
in the Support section and will be the one we use in the application in future
releases.

Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.

A bug in the current stable release

2017-12-18 Thread Norbert Engels
To Whom It May Concern:

Having obtained kmymoney 4.8.0-2 through the Synaptic Package Manager I
assume that this is the current stable version. Trying to report bugs
or recommendations I run into snags when trying to do so using the
recommended Help/Submit Bug Report menu entry:

As can be seen the app lists the version as 4.8.0 also. Once I login
to my account in bugs.kde.org I am presented with a message indicating
that

Sorry, either the product kmymoney4 does not exist or you aren't
authorized to enter a bug into it.

Ben Cooksley of kde.org whom I contacted about this issue tells me that
bugs for kmymoney are to be reported only under the generic subject
line "kmymoney" (see his enclosed mail). That's great - but
unfortunately the application itself tries to direct users to a
different target which is kind of inconvenient. Do you plan to rectify
this in a later update?
Please advise - and also please let me know what is the preferred
method of reporting bugs/suggesting changes or amendments.

Norbert

Hi Norbert,

At the request of the KMyMoney developers changes have been made to how
bugs are tracked for KMyMoney.
As a consequence of this the product on Bugzilla for KMyMoney is now known
as 'kmymoney'.

Hope this helps clear things up.

A few questions:

a) where did you read that one of our users uses 0% rated VAT?
b) which version are you using exactly (See Help/About KMyMoney)?

The 'current stable' might be ambiguous.

As a side note, I saw the same behavior in the current development version but

This is not a bug but by design. However, I've wondered about this
myself several times, as I don't know the rationale for the decision. I
suspect that originally, its expected use was to match a manually
imported transaction with one later imported from a bank statement.

@Thomas

Is there some other reason why a user should not be able to match two
transactions that he knows to be the same? I keep bumping into this
restriction.

Hi Fritz

No problems understanding your English.
"
Warning: QFileInfo::absolutePath: Constructed with empty filename
Warning: QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before
QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave."

I took the above quote from another user running under Windows recently.
The D-Bus message has been reported (on Google) numerous times, and it
seems that it is harmless, so probably needn't concern you too much.

So far as moving to 4.6.4 is concerned, I only know of one issue, from
the user whose message I quoted above. He was having a problem doing an
on-line price update for a Polish stock, which 4.6.4 didn't handle at
all well, crashing with no message. 4.6.3 also crashed under the same
circumstances, but did it more gracefully. The problem may affect
other, non-Polish stocks, but not UK ones, at least from my experience.

If you have no other reason to change, it might be prudent to stay where
you are for the moment, unless you do no on-line price updates.

Now some new information - I tested the latest version on win 7 and it
crash in the same way as in in win 8.1.

1.  "c:\Program Files (x86)\KMyMoney\bin\kmymoney.exe" -n ->test
Kmm starts as always but without my data file, then after loading data
file and attempting to update prices online it crashed.

2. remove or rename c:\temp\kmm-debug-info ->test

Nothing new, the same crash and output as always.

Nope, It crash without notification just as before.

OK, Staszek. I don't know if you've had a chance yet to refer to the
bug, but it's as well that any future developments are entered via the
bug, so that it is easier to see the history. You'll see that Cristian
has identified a problem, and we have to wait now for him to have time

I haven' seen a reply to my email from 27 Oct.

"Just a few houghts, your original problem occurred when you attempted
an online price update, but with the debug info, it appears to crash
straight away.

Go through the debug starting routine, but for the last line, add '-n', so

"c:\Program Files (x86)\KMyMoney\bin\kmymoney.exe" -n

This should start KMM without attempting to load your data file. If it
still crashes the same way, you've just wasted a couple of minutes.

Next, can you remove or rename c:\temp\kmm-debug-info, and run KMM as
above, then load your data file, and check if it otherwise appears to
work correctly. When you do the price update, you may get some useful

This looks like it.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kmymoney2/files/KMyMoney-Windows/4.6.4/

There are two files - the one with debug info in name.

I did a search for kmymoney on windows and from there went to
sourceforge. I'd seen it there yesterday, but had to do a little
searching to get to it.

It may not be the case on Windows but in the system tray, there is a

However I think I know what can be problem. Since it is windows and kmymoney
most likely want to make this temp file in program files folder it doesn’t have
permission for doing it. I think that may be a problem - program cannot create
that tmp file without permissions it doesn’t have or maybe it is trying to

I've jus used a fictional stock and used GPW to update it. All that happened

Hi,

There must be something wrong with your installation. KMyMoney 4.6.2
(Windows XP SP3 (En+Ru MUI, Ukrainian interface)):

http://ompldr.org/vZDQ4OQ/kmymoney_uk.jpg

Please make sure you have installed kde4-l10n-uk (or kde4-l10n-ru) package
(you can remove unneeded parts of it later).

Also Russian translation of KMyMoney 4.6.2 is incomplete (91%, previous
maintainer hates KDE 4).

problem, or are others OK and only KMM is wrong?
My OS is Windows 7 32-bit.

The only KDE application I use is KMyMoney.

I installed KMyMoney totally according to these instructions.

And I chose language and spelling packages (British English, Russian,
Ukrainian) from the menu.

version you have?

I have no idea. You tell me. Are they?

After switching to Russian, the starting screen of the programme IS in Russian.
But as I said before, the menus are not.

What distribution, and is your KMM from the distribution's package or
compiled from source? Do any other KDE applications show the same
problem, or are others OK and only KMM is wrong?

Also - are you sure that the Russian translations are included in the
version you have? Although unlikely, it is possible that not all
available languages were actually included in the compiled package.
