Re: KRnet> KR project for sale.
Hi again guys. I'm feeling like I have made a mess of this, so please forgive me. As you may already know, I need to clear out my KR project (and other stuff) because my family will have no idea what to do with it. I am finding it terribly difficult to put a fair price on things. What I paid years ago. The depreciation of the dollar and what the items are worth to you, leaves me in limbo. So, basically I have three items that need to go. They can probably be sold separately. #1-The finished KR-2 boat and outer wing spars on the fixed Diehl landing gear. All of the wood work is finished except I have not permanently attached the firewall reinforcement for the Continental O-200-A engine. Again, there are many, many extras that will go with this project that are to lengthly to list here. #2- A used Continental O-200-A engine with log book. This engine is/was intended for the KR-2 above and I intended to fly behind it. #3- An all new, test run only, 2600cc VW Type IV (4) engine from Great Plains Aircraft Co. Steve Bennett told me this engine was capable of about 100 hp. It has the "Force One" front crankshaft support bearing. It also has a full flow oil filter and oil cooler, a mechanical fuel pump, electric starter and alternator. It does need custom intake and exhaust runners, I never got around to it. I built this knowing that my life depended on the quality of the build and I am confident in it. I used only the best. Pictures can be seen here, and a great big thanks to Jim Litchfield. http://bouyea.net/classifieds/MyronF Make me a serious offer that I can't refuse and bring a truck. Myron D. I never had a Tech Counselor...he showed up once early on and confessed that his specialty was aluminum aircraft, my workmanship looked fine, and that I should forge on without him. The FAA did away with any kind of inspection (other than the final airworthiness inspection) many years ago. It should be noted, however, that three TC inspections are a bonus when it comes to getting insurance, but I was still able to get insurance, even with only a few hours of tailwheel training, and a hundred hours of flight time. I am sure I'm not the only one to have built a KR without a Tech Counselor, and in fact am probably in the majority. With resources like the Internet, KRnet, and all the other experimental aircraft related forums, videos, and websites, I see no reason why any reasonably capable person cannot build and fly a KR without issue. I'm sure you've had other obstacles in your way, but I don't think you can blame the lack of EAA support. I gave up on my EAA chapter many years ago, and some will argue that I should have helped to improve it, rather than bailing. But I chose my battle, and opted to help the Experimental world directly through KRnet. Apparently it's not been enough. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. KR> Project for sale
I've been sitting here for an hour, starting, erasing, restarting, editing, trying to figure out how to say what I need to say, so I'll just say it I guess. After a couple of years of trying to complete this project, I have run into so serious snags. Pardon me as I get long winded. First off, I purchased an abandoned project that was quite far along that had one major flaw and that was the glass parts of the structure was wavy and uneven. It didn't matter to me, I have lots of fiberglass experience on boats and hovercraft. I made this decision after many months of checking the project over against the plans etc. Ok so I cut all the glass off, fixed a couple little things and began making the other decisions necessary to move forward, like center stick or dual stick, seat position, flaps of no flaps. In the mean time I began contacting EAA Tech counselors to get official guidance on my project. I decided to keep the project stock with original retract gear and re-engineer the gear lock mechanism as everyone else has done. Then my Dad became ill and I spent most of my time caring for this great WWII Navy Vet and stopped working on the plane. A year later Dad passed away and I took some time off to rest up and help my mom. Lack of a Tech Counselor is one of the major problems I have. I initially contacted the EAA and got a list, three in my area. I contacted everyone on the list. One had moved and not updated the EAA so he was out. One had moved farther away than he was comfortable travelling. One didn't give me the time of day. I went to the local EAA chapter and they didn't have anyone at the time but gave me the name of a guy who was going to be their designated Tech Counselor (TC). I contacted him, talked to him face to face at the meeting and set up an appointment. He had t drive through my town on the way back from work so it was perfect. Well, he was a no show. I called him several times and got no answer, left messages etc. Nothing. Ok, so now what. I continued down the path I had started so as not to be just sitting around. I knew where I was going and until some told me otherwise I was just going to continue but I couldn't get too far ahead of myself. So I finally made phone contact with the original guy from the EAA list that didn't give me the time of day. He was about to go to Europe for a month and we set a time to make contact again after her returned. He asked me for my contact details etc. I was excited to get this underway. Well, the allotted time came and went, no contact. Sent the guy several emails (his preferred method of contact), and left him a couple voice mails and got no return. I kept on working, I got an experienced KR builder to stop by and take a look. He gave me a few pointers, and suggested a few things, which I did. I heard a fellow KR builder had enlisted the original guy I had arrangement with as his adviser, so I made contact with him again. I told him about the project again and he said he had a few other things to do and he would call me right back. The call never came. So now, I'm really ticked off. I get the fact these guys are volunteers but wow. I decided I was going to have to be the worlds biggest pest and push the issue then I thought, do I really want someone inspecting my project and giving me advice whose heart is not in it. Not a chance. If I was the TC and I had a guy hounding me, would I have a good attitude about it? Would I be able to look at his project objectively? Probably not. Now the WAF (wife approval factor) is at an all time low. She has asked me to give up my dream. She wants me to concentrate on my artistic skills etc. I can't afford to buy a plane, I can't afford the high annual expenses etc. My only option was to use my engineering, intuition and skills and build something that I could use to stay flying. I'm in great health, take no meds for anything, and it would be a shame to waste a perfectly good FAA Medical. But alas, it must not have been meant to be. So, for a reasonable period of time, my project is for sale. I have a conventional, retractable gear, slightly widened (2"-3") KR-2 torn down, back to boat stage with 2 sets of wings. One set built with Deihl wing skins with 10gal fuel tanks in each wing. The other set was built to plans. I have VW engine engine mount and a few other odds and ends. Gear just needs to be re-attached etc and its rolling or convert it to fixed gear. Also have forward deck with fuel tank built-in per plans. Pictures upon request (Off List Please). Second set of wings (Deihl skinned) for sale separately from the KR-2. Anyway, this is not the way I wanted to go. I have engineered and air tested several innovations I thought would enhance the KR but now that will be lost. Sad to have to let this go. It's all I've wanted to do since I was in high school. Oh well. I apologize for the long winded post. I needed to vent a little. Phill Hill, Collinsville, IL phill.hill at gmail.com (618)567-5275

Not sure if this made it through the first time. If so then I'm sorry the added traffic on the site. Ok guys, the first one to jump on this one is going to get one heck of a deal. A friend has decided that age is catching up so he is selling his KR2 project. The fuselage is in boat stage, the tail looks pretty much done, elevator and rudder controls done landing gear, wheels and tires installed, I think he has a fiberglass seat, spars are done, the top of both outer wings have foam installed and sanded you just need to install the foam on the under side, he will also throw in a few miscellaneous things like a roll of fiberglass and I'm not sure what else. His craftsmanship on this is super. He appears to have done things right. If you are looking for a really good project then this one will give you a great head start. A lot has been done. He is only asking $1,700.00. He has a lot more in it and if you ask me this is a good deal. If you are interested please contact him direct. Greetings, If anyone is interested in a KR2 (not stretched), my project is for sale.? You can see my add at: http://www.barnstormers.com/listing.php?id=829149 I bought a project in 81, and burned it in 92 due to many issues induced by the previous owner.? Started over in 92, and have come to realize it is simply too small for my wife and I.? (I'm 6'1 & 240 lbs... and I'll leave my wife to your imagination).?? I am asking $1500, but have much more in it, of course. If you are interested, please e-mail me at kerdogs at yahoo.com.? (Don't burden the archives by replying to the KRNET).? If no one buys it... who knows, it may end up at a gathering in a couple of years with me in it. Thanks, Kerwyn

FWIW, I don't know Bob and haven't looked at his project beyond the photos he has posted. ?But as a reference point, his project is at about the same point in construction for less money than mine was when I bought it some 18 years ago. ?2 years later, I had a flying plane and have since flown it 1000 hrs over the last 16 years. ?The point I'm beating around here is that if you are wanting to build, this project appears to be a great head start on a project for less $$ than you would spend for materials to build the same. -Jeff Scott Los Alamos, NM > - Original Message - > From: Robert Boyd > Sent: 07/10/13 05:16 AM > To: krnet at list.krnet.org > Subject: KR> Project for sale > > I put some pics and info about my KR2-S project on a web site. > If interested please let me know. > https://sites.google.com/site/bobskr2s/home > > Bob

KR> KR project for sale with Grove gear
Dropping this to $2,400. A great deal! Original Message Subject: KR> KR project for sale with Grove gear From: List-Post: krnet@list.krnet.org Date: Sun, July 01, 2012 10:36 am To: "KRnet" I have just listed one of my KRs for sale. It is time to get it out of the garage so I have room to finish the Pietenpol and my 2S. This KR was completed, but I have sold the engine and a previous left a wing outside root up and it filled up with water and was destroyed. I do have a new set of spars to build a new wing. It has a nice removable forward deck and aluminum fuel tank. I have a nice premolded cowl for it. Fusalage basically needs some hanger rash fixed and a new engine. Then finish one wing and repair the other. This plane has about $2,200.00 worth of new Grove landing gear and Matco wheels and brakes. I am asking $2,800 for the whole thing because I need to get it out of my garage so I can work on other things. It would be worth it to buy just for the gear, cowl, canopy, and wing attach fittings. Grove gear can also be rotated to the back side of the spar if you wanted to add a training wheel up front. Best to call me at 904-536-1780. If you insist on emailing my address is br...@eamanufacturing.com. Don't use the address I used to post this message or replay to the list. And don't ask if I would be willing to ship the plane out of the country. Take a look at the link for the Barnstormers add. KR> KR project for sale
I am selling one of my KR projects to make room for finishing my 2S. It is a standard KR. Fuselage and tail are complete. It has basic sling seats. A previous owner had the wings leaning up against his house while taxiing around his farm and one wing was root up and filled with water and was destroyed. I have the other wing with some fiberglass hanger rash from when it fell over, but it is repairable. I have new spars for the other wing. It has a decent center stick. Had a bunch of instruments, but I will be keeping them. It had an engine mount, but I have removed and sold it. It has a welded aluminum tank. Cowl and canopy are good. I removed the retracts and put on the singe piece Grove aluminum gear. I bought the gear streamlined and with the gunn drilled brake lines. I have very nice aluminum welded attach fittings and the plane is on the gear now. I have a brand new set of Matco wheels and brakes on the plane with new tires. Price on Grove's web site is $1,375. Add in the wheels and brakes and the cost of making brackets and you have over $2K in landing gear parts alone in this plane. I will sell the whole thing for $2,500 and I can deliver it to Sun N Fun if someone sends me a deposit on it soon. No, I am not going to lug it there just for someone to look at it, only if it is bought. My number is 904-536-1780. I can send pictures to whoever emails me, but not until late tonight or tomorrow. As usual, email me, not the entire list. My email address is br...@eamanufacturing.com. Do not send email to the address I used to post this message unless you don't want a response for maybe a month. Oh, and I hate typing long emails describing planes I am selling and answering a hundred questions to a hundred different people, but I do enjoy talking about them so best to call me. I have some training at work today then something I need to do later so leave a message or text and I can call back.

Since the wonderful Yahoo webpage is now "temporarily unavailable" (gotta love 'em), I'll just go ahead and tell y'all that this is Dr. Dean's airplane, although I don't remember Steve ever mentioning that. Somebody's going to get a bargain, and a one-of-a kind airplane. It is setup for the AS5048/15 airfoil. KR>Project for sale... half price day
I've decided to sell my KR2 project. You can see details at http://home.swfla.rr.com/ronmartha/ in the Ron'sKR2 directory. This aircraft was started as a stretch KR2 with 14 inches added aft, and 5 inches forward. Width is standard, and controls are set to allow single or dual operation. Spars are finished and wing parts ready to foam. Aluminum tanks <3> and set up for good CG control. See detailed description at KR2.rtf Lots of pictures, in a somewhat organized grouping. I've spent $11,317 somewhat wisely, and will sell for half price ($5653) until mid November. Then, if not sold, I will part it out on eBay when I get back to Florida in January. See $'s invested at KR INVEST.rtf If you want to see what I've built previously, see MY Planes.doc Ron Freiberger mailto: rfreiber...@swfla.rr.com

KR>KR Project for Sale
My KR-2S project is for sale. It is located in Longview, TX. You can learn more about the project at. www.geocities.com/trentflemming/ The fuselage is basically complete; the wing spars are complete, but not drilled. The spars are the bigger size in order to use the airfoils created by Mark Langford and team. However the fuselage has not been cut so if someone wanted to use the stock spar, it should not be a problem. I honestly cannot remember all the details as I have not worked on the project in about 4 years. I have a dragonfly canopy that is still in its protective wrap from the factory. The color is charcoal grey if I remember correctly. It comes with the upper landing gear bracket that mounts to the larger spars. I have a couple sheets of foam. A couple of videos from the gathering and a video on the corvair engine, it also comes with a ton of information all bound neatly and even organized. It was kind of a book of mods that I was planning and organized by what stage they should be integrated. It includes a corvair engine conversion manual and of course the KR-2S plans. I am asking $1500. If you have any question you can email or call me. Trent Flemming 903-452-3742 m...@trentflemming.com
