We will lose some/all those named, but of course if they’re not good enough to get us out of this league, then so be it! I agree too that Farke will be in a more ‘stable’ position this year than last too. All that said, I still hope we somehow find a way to get promoted this season, and then the fun will really start?? Re: [LU] Scared
If we do not end up getting promoted and lose Gnonto, Summerville, Rutter, Firpo as may be the case it would be difficult, but not devastating IMO. So we may end up having to sign 9 or 10 players to replace those being sold or not re-signing. That’s no more than many clubs will have to do anyway, particularly those getting relegated from the Premier League. I would argue that we would be in a better place than when Farke took over and the 2nd year of parachute payment is not much of a drop off compared to the 3rd. So we should still be able to at least compete financially with the teams coming down. Ok, so the players we would keep, would be a different mixture should we get promoted, but the cost of recruitment and quality required would be a lot higher, and we would probably need 8 or 9 players anyway. Also Farke’s record at putting together a squad to get out of the championship is a lot better than his record at keeping clubs there. Re: [LU] Scared?
Just reflecting a bit more: Piroe - was pish yesterday, anonymous. He is probably the best pure finisher we have…and brings nothing else. Summerville… given the ball standing still, with 3 men to beat, because half-decent coaches know if they stop him they go half way to stopping us… and this is the problem with the relentless passing across the back 5, our best front guys need to hit the defence at speed, get them off balance, cause some chaos, but with this pass pass pass, they can set their defence, get organised and are much harder to break down. On paper we have by far the best attacking threat in the league (include Byram, Firpo and Roberts in that too)… what we should do for the last 3 games is let them loose, get the ball to them and risk it. It all depends how tired (mentally and physically) they are, and also how scared we are as a team Bamford - someone described him as a “streaky” player… and we are in a downturn, whereas 2 months ago he was on a goal a game… I can see this being his last season with us. He moves defences around, but he needs service to score, he won’t create chances for himself. James. - A good full back who marks him properly, deals with him Rutter - who I do really like - is however currently in the running for the Paolo Wanchope award of no can mark him because no one, least of all himself, knows where he’s going or what he is about to do Gnonto - looked most likely yesterday, then got subbed (maybe he was struggling), but he is at least direct and willing to pop a shot Anthony - looks decent, but is behind the other 3 wingers Joseph - nice cameos…do we go with a raw 20 year at this stage? Joffy - does a lot of warming up… Also, taking Gruev off, left a huge hole that they walked through. Devon Lock, Devon Lock riding through the glen… Nick PS: it doesn’t take much for ‘the best supporters in the league’ to become a right bunch of moaning bastards. Why? He’s been outstanding. Regularly touted by non-Leeds people as the best in the league. Re: [LU] Scared?
I’ve got mates who support Ipswich and Leicester. They’re both as terrified as we are. The Ipswich one reckons they are out on their feet and the Leicester one thinks their heads have gone. I guess the worry for us is the loss of our better players. I suspect though that we won’t be under pressure to sell for less than market value like in the past.
