And now we've got Gareth Southgate as the favourite to be next England manager. A man with the personality of a dishcloth, who got Middlesbrough relegated the last time he tried his hand at management. He might be OK as a coach or an assistant, but he's not a number 1. If he gets the job we can write of England's chances at the next world cup. Tim W. Worse than that, he took a squad that was built for quick passing and speed. A good squad at that. The team showed what it could do against Germany. And then what did The Useless Fucker do? He chose the slowest thinking player we have (the other Useless Fucker) to be The Central Organiser of the team. How in the Hell was that ever going to work? The Useless Fucker has NEVER done that role well against quality opposition, and he proved last night he can't do it against distinctly average opposition. Hodgson was the bloody problem, he never had a Plan B, and from yesterday's display his Plan A was pretty bloody awful as well. What a terrible game. Utter shite. Re: [LU] List Down
It's staggering that after a season were the most successful teams - most obviously Leicester but also, in terms of exceeding expectations, Tottenham - showed what playing with pace could do. Vardy and Kane were unplayable when facing the goal; Alli could ping it any which way before you'd clocked the movement of the defender bombing up the side because you had your eye on Erikssen... Yet time after time last night, England moved the ball to the edge of the penalty area and... stopped. They just stopped. They waited, politely, for the Icelandic defence to get themselves organised, and then crossed the ball to one of their defenders or had a shot that either went wide or straight into the defender standing in front of them. In Hodgson's defence, Vardy's great threat is when he gets alongside the last man and runs, and most teams didn't allow the space for that. On the other hand, the prick took one winger. Not even enough for one team. On 28 June 2016 at 10:45, Alec McQueen wrote: > Tournament is fine, England team is utter shite. I hope Rooney never wears > the shirt again. Useless fucker. Re: [LU] List Down
Really disappointed with the game. I was expecting us to take the game to them, especially on the back of two wins but we were extremely poor. I didn't think wood was too bad today (by his own low standards) but a few of the usual suspects were back to their ineffective selves. Murphy - utter shite, wooton - out of position but shite, antenucci - as greedy as ever but no end product - kept trying stupid flicks that went to a Rotherham player, bellusci - arrogant twat kept doing stupid things - overhead kick rather than simple header back to keeper - gifted a corner by trying to be too clever - utter shite. This is one where fat boy needs to take some blame. They were constantly hoofing the ball long , bypassing midfield altogether. As a result cook struggled to get into the game. Mowatt should have scored first half but I'm not convinced he's a left mid. He drifts inside too much which leaves the left back exposed. I'd play him in the middle with cook - in fact when Murphy went off I'd have moved mowatt inside, kept Dallas on and brought on botaka. I'm not sure adeyemi did anything positive - he was still hiding from the ball. It took them 20 mins to pass it to botaka but when he got it he scared Rotherham to death. Can't believe we lost to Rotherham but pleased for redders - he said after the game that Cellino had refused him a parking permit - when will that insane twat piss off out of our club? Re: [LU] List Down
I nearly forgot ... Lee Irwin showed his face. Unfortunately he was asked to play as a left winger but showed enough for me to be a given a start in place of Woods. That's not saying much mind. I think Byram should play in Murphy's role. Also, Dave you said you didn't think Rotherham deserved the win ? They certainly didn't deserve to lose and looked the only team capable of scoring. I thought their front players were lively whereas ours were clueless. They were a better team all over the pitch.fair result for me. Re: [LU] List Down
Mini match report, Thought we started ok, Mowatt looked a yard quicker, still not fast but much better. We didn't really create anything apart from an off- side goal. I think the team selection is pretty much forced but I really do have grave concerns about a manager who puts his faith in Luke Murphy. I think he gave 100% but that just makes it more obvious that here is a guy who has nothing much to offer at this level. Thing is, most of us having been saying this since his debut ( despite his lucky goal) but yet others seem to think he's going to turn into Steven Gerard. The bloke is league division 4 and he should take his dodgy moustache and fuck off back to Crewe or Salford City. The other thing that's getting me riled us the way Steve Evans has basically ruined Lewis Cook. He's decided to play him as a holding midfielder player, sat just in front of the back four doing fuck all. We've lost approximately 25% of our effectiveness through this decision from Evans. When you consider we were only 8% effective that basically means we are fucked. And so it was proved, against a pedestrian Rotherham team we struggled and to be honest they looked pretty organised compared to our long ball , short ball carry on. We had no plan and no players who have the quality to hurt the opposition. Bokota is the only one but he only played a sub's role and didn't touch the ball in the first 20 minutes on the pitch ( I kid you not). When he finally did get the ball he terrified them and he opened them up for the first time in the game. Unfortunately, he was still relying on our dynamic duo upfront helping him out. They couldn't, Evans is playing 2 up front but on this performance neither of our strikers is really up to it. I admit to being a fan of Antenucci but I think he's trying to hard and also suffering from playing next to a fucking plank. I heard someone say he's a second rare Billy Painter. I think that's not fair on Billy. Wood is rubbish, yes he won 2 headers in 95 minutes, one actually headed on target but his general, laboured play shows a player who is just not good enough. I would suggest his wonder effort against Derby was a complete fluke. There's no other explanation and I think Wood would have been in dream heaven following that strike. He just isn't capable of that sort of quality. At the back, our new, solid defence was all over the shop. Beradi for once looked like a right back really struggling at left back, the centre two looked disorganised and desperate and Scott Wooton is just fucking Scott Wooton. You'd have to be a clueless, fat bastard to pick that cunt. What more can be said, other than , yes Evans is making the same mistakes, but with that set of players I think Don Revie would be struggling. Silvestri - 4. All over the shop. A couple if decent saves, I don't think he knows the names of his defenders. Wooton - 5. Wasn't actually his worst game but it makes no difference, he ain't a right book and ain't good enough at this level. Beradi - 2. I think he struggled today and I'm not sure what happened for his sending off but it looked like he completely lost his head. Bellusci - 5. He worked hard, did some good stuff but then at times he looked shite. He should have been sent off too. He's a head case. Cooper - 5. Same as Bellusci without resembling a compete lunatic. Cook - 5 what a shame. Evans has shackled him. Mowatt - 4. Improved but just isn't good enough IMO. Murphy - 1. Come on, get rid. Dallas - 3. He's fucking shit. Antenucci - 1. Awful, no pace, always off- side. Wood - 1. He's fucking rubbish. Twat. Subs : Bokota - 5. Opened them up eventually Adeyemi- did he actually touch the ball I. 30 mins? Evans - fat fucker. Getting sacked in the morning apparently according to the Rotherham fans. He's only been in charge for 4 games ? That's ridiculous. I can't pay good money to watch this shit and won't be going to Hull based in this. > On 21 Nov 2015, at 21:05, Richard walker wrote: > > I haven't started yet John, just shovelling the wine down my neck. Re: [LU] List down or just dead?
I think that's it for me re McDermott, mainly because there are no signs that he knows how to organise a team to defend! Was Wooton no 22 - if so, he looks a complete bell-end - a poor man's Demetiolis (or whatever that Man City calamity is called!). In Kebe and Stewart we have the slowest and most guileless wingers in the league - even I would be very comfortable defending against them! If Cellino's quote about kicking ars*s is true, then his reaction is the same as mine. If we don't now get Cellino we'll be bust in a month, into admin, points deducted and probably relegated! Now there's something to look forward to! On Sunday, 9 March 2014, 17:07, Richard Walker wrote: Yep that's it - give Vinnie the job. It would be interesting at least. Re: [LU] List down or just dead?
Just got off a plane hoping to see a good home win to build on qpr which I thought was ok. Can't believe it. Beginning to move towards the Brian out camp slightly now. We aren't going down as we have almost enough points and we certainly aren't pushing for play offs really. He has had one arm tied behind his back, I suspect kebe and Stewart were all he could get, Murphy was probably a gamble with the limited funds he had but £1m is nothing in this league. Wootton... Quite a few on here and other sites praised him for building a new young team. How much is his fault they haven't been upto it? Tactics, confidence or is stepping out of prem club reserves means they can't cut it in a proper league?? So... Take over in balance can't do anything until it's sorted. He deserves till the end of the season in my view. Who would we get? Call me old fashioned but I don't want some unproven Italian "coach" in charge. Rarely ends well. Re: [LU] list down?
I joined as a final year student in 94-95 and stayed a subscriber for a few years then left it for a LONG time and came back the summer of relegation to the 3rd tier. I did briefly pop into that bar in London in 1996 prior to the final against Villa and my list claim to fame is that I have indeed met Betty (I can confirm he is not a woman) but I suspect that due to the ravages of the "devil's buttermilk" at the time he doesn't remember me. I still think it's a huge pity - and unfathomable really - that people huff and leave the list over what is a flame war. When I was in Inglaterra I went maybe 5-6 times a year from 95-96 to end of '03. Anyhow, let's keep it going. Come back Rich W, both of the Marks and whoever else left recently. Re: [LU] list down?
I'm trying to recall when I joined the list. Definitely during the George Graham period which started in 1996. One of my fondest memories is sitting in the Bobby Moore stand at Upton Park watching an O'Leary side thump one of Rednapps 5 - 1 with 3 of theirs being sent off. Hasselbaink scored inside 15 seconds, me holding onto my seat to prevent me giving my presence away. Some others couldn't and got escorted out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/football/fa_carling_premiership/333187.stm We spent the last minute playing keep ball to prevent them getting a 4th player sent off that would have meant match abandoned. In the end there were about 20 Leeds fans occupying the stand and all the Happy Hammers had walked. Jezz I was thinking of "lifers" who are still on here..Someone help me out here There was an old fan of Scarborough FC on this list who remembers their 73, 75, 76 & 77 appearances at Wembleywas it Guy? Leeds and Scarborough the only two teams I've ever followed. Oh yes indeed, happy days when the irc room was at its best. The demise of the room on match days sent me looking elsewhere out of boredom and I met the other half that way. I was also on the list for the villa debacle, but was on a plane, taking off from heathrow as the match kicked off heading for Chicago, so missed the meet. The list has gone through troughs like this before and will survive this one too. I for one would rather have a quieter list than one that's noisy with infantile squabbling. Re: [LU] list down?
But the best armchair experience has to be the Elland Rd leg of the Stuttgart match which just about pips Arsenal 71. For the worst I think it has to be Sunderland which narrowly beats the Chelsea replay and Bayern. If the last match of the 82 season had been an armchair option that would have been up there too. I can't count any of them as armchair experiences as I went to all of them. Frankly, for me, all armchair matches are in the "worst experience" class as they simply have no passion compared to being there, but sadly this is not something I can do much about these days.. :-( Steve ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate

Yes a good match to remember - hot sunshine, featured match on World Service (R5L didn't yet exist), drifting in and out of the siesta on the back seat of the car as the commentary came and went (I think it was flashes through the match then the last 20 mins), looking forward to eating the freshwater crayfish that my friends were catching whilst I was listening.. Re: [LU] list down?
Been here only 4 years after a punter in Muscat recommended the list. to be fair and i may speak for a few, us overseas lurkers make the odd comment but tbh we are mostly ignored cos we aint in the 'in' crowd plus the spats between rich, rich, dave, mike etc have left us all feeling rather out of it. I for one appreciate greatly the match reports and the actual Leeds info.. the personal bollocks doesn't matter but I am hanging on here cos I think the list has a lot to offer. TBH the Leeds stuff in city doesnt affect me.. 20 years out of UK this month but it is nice to reminisce. Thanks John and the old crowd for keeping it going.. Leeds 'fan' since 1971.. since I moved to Liverpool from Scotland.. suffering still but I am proud to stick with my team... Cheers to the list long may it continue... Surely it's longer > than that Paul? No I joined a few weeks before R£o went and after DOL had been sacked, which was Summer 2002. Cundell Comms were through Breadbox NChat IRC client on a Nokia 9110 Communicator thanks to free unlimited WAP from Genie. Drowned the upgrade Nokia 9210 when I continued typing during a sudden downpour - LCD screens don't like water apparently. The 9210i that replaced it was ok but the IRC client was a bit handmade, not a patch on Breadbox and made connecting to servers difficult. Genie became O2 and started limiting the WAP access and thus the cost and the lack of a decent client meant the end of cundell comms. Think they outlasted a few managers mind you. We used to do a pre-match 'hi from the wheatsheaf' too and that's not open anymore either.
