RE: [LegacyUG] Print Family Group Record
Use supp...@legacyfamilytree.com to contact Support with questions on using Legacy, problems with the program, error messages, etc. The staff have individual email addresses so we can receive inter-office communications and for our subscriptions to the various mailing lists - beta lists, translation lists and of course LUG. If you contact us directly with a problem, the message will need to be forwarded to our tracking system. If you need to contact us personally for some reason, then certainly use our personal email addresses I don't know why an official announcement wasn't issued. That's not my department I suppose it would have saved a lot of confusion! Thanks for using Legacy. RE: [LegacyUG] Print Family Group Record
Messages sent to the LUG list do not enter the ticketing system. Emails sent to supp...@legacyfamilytree.com or through the Problem Report Form on our website are automatically entered into the system. In fact, in that message on Sunday which you wrote, you stated: "I'm copying Support on this e-mail, in hopes of receiving a statement of policy on bug acknowledgments and priority tracking". And since the message was more generic than related to a specific Legacy problem, you received a generic response. From my perusal of your message in the system, there would have been no way for an automated response to come up with a specific solution to the problem. Thanks for using Legacy. Re: [LegacyUG] Print Family Group Record
Hello Ron, Yes, that is where on the Family Group Reports I am having a problem. I totally agree that the abbreviation should be there for the parents. My problem is - it shows Cir 1815 yet I have entered Abt 1815. I looked at others in my database that have parents with About birth year. The ones I looked at have Abt. I do not understand why this one set of parents has Cir. when I have entered Abt. I hesitate to take up so much of your time. I do so wish I could get it to have Abt. As an aside, I when I asked about having about spelled out rather than abbreviated I planned to use it in the events. Such as 'John moved to Wisconsin about 1849' rather than 'John moved to Wisconsin abt 1849' For sure I didn't want 'John moved to Wisconsin cir. 1849'. RE: [LegacyUG] Print Family Group Record
Ann, Hoped you enjoyed your trip, I take you are referring to the two boxes below either the husband or wife, where it gives the parents' names eg. Edward Rogers (Abt 1843 - Cir 1890). If so, I believe that to be fixed, and if so I would not wish for it to be changed. I suspect that it is the same string as used in webpages, and it would be too large for the page/boxes used in the Pedigree pages. It may also cause problems elsewhere. If that is not where the problem is please come back to me. Re: [LegacyUG] Print Family Group Record
Hello Ron, Back from my trek to the nearest town. In the family view for Hugh it has about for him & his wife Eliza, also if one does previews their family group record. Thenwhen one goes to their son John and previews his family group record, John's parents (Hugh & Eliza) have now changed to cir. Before writing this I looked at several other families that have a parent with an about birth year. These parents have about on their child's family group record. Of the ones I looked at it is just this one family. I tried deleting Hugh & Eliza's birth year, and entering it again. Still cir. on their son's family group record. Ron, I have to be away from the internet for awhile. I swear to buy a toothpick one must make a 200 mile round trip. I should be back late this afternoon. Re: [LegacyUG] Print Family Group Record
Ron, I closed the program as I had read on the LUG that sometimes a person having problems were advised to try that. In the family view for Hugh & Eliz they have always had about. It is when I do a FGR for their children that the about changes to cir. In the family view for Hugh Cochrane his birth is about 1815. In the reports, family group report he is about, his wife Eliza has about, his children are about. I do not have parents for him or his wife. In the family view for his son John Cochrane, I have dates for him, his wife & children. In the reports, family group report John's parents, Hugh & Eliza now have cir. I tried deleting the birth data for Hugh & Eliz and saving, then re-entering the about 1815 and about 1820 respectively. Still cir in the FGR for his son John. I looked at the FGR preview for some of their other children, Hugh & Eliza have cir. Before I would do the reset which is a pain I would just as soon take a dose of salts. Perhaps I should just send a disclaimer along with the report that the program I use will not print about for parents. Re: [LegacyUG] Print Family Group Record
Ron, Thank you for helping me. Changing to short locations is my fault, for some reason, sometimes things in the lower left of the screen I do not see. I checked the use short dates & it works perfectly. The abt vs cir has me stumped. I had the circa changed to about and about to abt. I could not get, when I typed abt, to stop changing to cir on the report. Just now I changed about to about and circa to about and the report still reads cir. I have the dates for these people, for example, as about 1815. Am I in the wrong place? I went to options, customise, prefixes in the typed column for about and typed about I went to the display circa and typed about. Then I clicked on save. I tried closing the program, when I opened the program it still has cir. If this person, Hugh Cochrane, is the main person it has about. If I move down to the son then Hugh changes to cir. I don't mean to be picky but the people I send this to understand about they do not understand cir. Perhaps I hang out with some low life but the circa seems about as pretentious as does the compiler information - produced by, I would much rather have the reports read created or compiled by. While I am on my soap box, I have never been able to get anything I enter in the comments field to print. I like to have Additions and corrections appreciated. I have to put this in the email field to get it to print. I have tried to use the comments field for years and cannot seem to get it to show on the computer screen or print outs.
