   - crash when using fax

Combination of DocBook, LinuxDoc and LyX -- once more

1999-01-02 Thread Prokopis Prokopidis

Apologies for bringing up this issue again, but I'm a bit confused. On
an intel machine, RedHat 6.1 installed the following teTeX RPMs:

tetex-1.0.6-7
tetex-afm-1.0.6-7
tetex-dvilj-1.0.6-7
tetex-dvips-1.0.6-7
tetex-fonts-1.0.6-7
tetex-latex-1.0.6-7
tetex-xdvi-1.0.6-7

After the installation I added the following sgml related RPMs from the
distribution cd and the RedHat powertools collection
(ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/powertools/6.1/):

sgml-common-0.1-6
sgml-tools-1.0.9-2
docbook-3.0-12
stylesheets-0.11rh-2
jade-1.2.1-6
jadetex-2.5-1

At this point, I was able to produce, LinuxDoc- *and*
DocBook-originating HTML, TeX etc. with commands like the following:

db2dvi xarticle.sgm # (DocBook)
sgml2latex example.sgml # (LinuxDoc)

Next, I installed the LyX RPMs:

tetex-lyx-1.1.2-1
lyx-1.1.2-1

Now, LyX did find LinuxDoc, but *not* DocBook, as it reported in the
configuration file it generated.

Trying to change that, I attempted to upgrade to sgmltools,v2 with the
RPM

sgmltools-CVS19990807-2

from ftp://ftp.us.sgmltools.org

This was not allowed as conflicts were reported with packages
jade-1.2.1-6 and jadetex-2.5-1. Just for testing, I uninstalled the
jade* packages and installed sgmltools-CVS19990807-2. OK. After
reconfiguring, LyX saw DocBook but, rightfully, lost LinuxDoc.

One question is why LyX cannot understand that, although
sgmltools-CVS19990807-2 is not present, DocBook exists on my system.

Another question is if there is a way to convince LyX on that. What I
want is both DTDs present and working, with or without LyX, for obvious
reasons.

TIA

Prokopis

With a plain vanilla install of lyx-1.1.1 (with the patches for the

1999-01-02 Thread Daniel Seifert

Hi.

I´ve now translated everything so that the PS output is in German. I
have some questions though.

First I notice that when a "Standard" text follows a
subsection/subsubsection, the text is not displayed below, but rather
next to the subsection title (= the linebreak is missing). I find
this very annoying, how can I fix that?

Second, is there a way to bind "layouts" to keys? As I am writing a
quite long mathematical text with often changing parts ("theorem",
"proof", "definition") I spend too much time grabbing the mouse and
looking for the appropriate entry in the popup list. I´d much more
prefer to rather just press F1...F10 or whatever.

And last, how can I enter using just the keyboard these parentheses
which resize according to their contents? In the lyx and latex file
they are called \( and \), but when entering \( or \) I get
parenthesis but only with a fixed size?

It would also be nice if I could use the math panel just with the
keyboard. This, together with point 2, would make life much easier.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Subject: Release of LyX 1.1.2
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Lars Gullik Bjønnes)
Date: 03 Nov 1999 20:00:27 +0100

This release is a minor update to 1.1.1 that fixes the bugs found there.

  - crash when using fax
  - cheaders included
  - the '-' vs. '_' should be gone.
  - the export to html should be a little better
  - + some additional bugfixes

A few remarks after compile/install (Solaris 2.6, gcc 2.8.1)

 - no more warnings at compilation time (Solaris 2.6, gcc 2.8.1).

 - here is a problem in configure: as is, program_suffix is not taken into account.
As far as I understand, line 860 reads
PACKAGE = lyx
and thus the configue log says
LyX files dir: /usr/local/share/lyx
even when program_suffix=-1.1
If I change line 860
 PACKAGE=lyx${program_suffix}
 I get
LyX files dir: /usr/local/share/lyx-1.1
BUT now configure is called configure-1.1 in /usr/local/share/lyx-1.1

 - when I export to HTML, latex2html is called... (tth is installed as
/usr/local/bin/tth,
and I reused the lyx-1.0.4 lyxrc as is) . Is it the alternative called when tth is
missing ?

PACKAGE = lyx
and thus the configue log says
LyX files dir: /usr/local/share/lyx
even when program_suffix=-1.1
If I change line 860
 PACKAGE=lyx${program_suffix}
 I get
LyX files dir: /usr/local/share/lyx-1.1
BUT now configure is called configure-1.1 in /usr/local/share/lyx-1.1

 - when I export to HTML, latex2html is called... (tth is installed as
/usr/local/bin/tth,
and I reused the lyx-1.0.4 lyxrc as is) . Is it the alternative called when tth is
missing ?

  Hello :)
  you can look at http://www.sgmltools.org/download.html

There is already one rpm source an binary available at ftp://ftp.sgmltools.org

The problem with the current model is that it install several packages instead
of trying to use the available. That's why there are problems of co-existence
between version 1 and 2...

compose-key (lyx-1.1.1, Solaris-2.6)

1999-01-02 Thread Ronald Florence

With a plain vanilla install of lyx-1.1.1 (with the patches for the
fax and export->custom commands), the Compose key no longer works
reliably on our Sparc-Solaris-2.6 workstations. It does work with
Lyx-1.0.0, using the identical configuration files..

AMS article etc

PACKAGE = lyx
and thus the configue log says
LyX files dir: /usr/local/share/lyx
even when program_suffix=-1.1
If I change line 860
 PACKAGE=lyx${program_suffix}
 I get
LyX files dir: /usr/local/share/lyx-1.1
BUT now configure is called configure-1.1 in /usr/local/share/lyx-1.1

 - when I export to HTML, latex2html is called... (tth is installed as
/usr/local/bin/tth,
and I reused the lyx-1.0.4 lyxrc as is) . Is it the alternative called when tth is
missing ?

Regards

Can you run LyX as "lyx -dbg KEY" and see what lyx reports when you
try to Compose?

Hi,
I have a American keyboard. When I set : options--> language primary: german
then the buttoms are different as on my keyboard. How you use umlaut on
American keyboard? Clicking command line and writing accent-umlaut is
inconvenient.
Any suggestion? How you doing with Spellcheker to recognize umlauts?

Thanks, Ramin
