Okay, I’m assuming that you are accessing this via the web I hope? Two
what version of the iPhone are you running, what version of Bio OS are
you running? Because I’ve never had a problem with the Facebook app
however what I do run into trouble I just go to the web and use the web
interface. I also when using Facebook messenger use a older wrap because
the accessibility is better. However it is a OS X app. And when using
the actual Facebook website should I run into problems then I go use the
mobile site on the computer. Hopefully these few suggestions might be
helpful to some.

Hi all,
I made an interesting observation on the weekend regarding the
facebook app for the iPhone. I finally deleted my facebook account
and the associated Apps off my iPhone.
I have an 8+ and as soon as I deleted the facebook app and the
messenger app off it the speed of my phone went back to the speed it
was running when I first got it. I hadn’t really notice it slowing
down over the last year as it was gradual, I could have a conspiracy
theory about facebook, but I’m guessing it was just a very hungry
app as far as using up resources on the device.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this?

Yes, braille without contractions is what german blind braille users on Apple

Just for clarity, and forgive me for the apparent pedantry, I think
you mean 'fun' and not 'funny'.
maybe a simplified Braille code for German would address the
above-mentioned et al. I have heard of systems which are entirely in
long-hand i.e. with no contraction; not sure if the underlying
rationale is to avoid the type of problems you're citing.

Re: To Add to the idea

2019-05-27 Thread Jürgen Fleger
In my Windows time there was a german program for this called BKCom. Never
liked it very much because writing braille on these smal keyboard keys wasn’t
very funny. I wouldn’t need to write braille on a normal keyboard. But anyway
there might be a group of people who really would appreciate this function. So
give them the suggestion. To have a keyboard shortcut for this would be great.

Yes, german braille is well designed but to complicated in its exception rules
for automated processes. There was a person named Wolfgang Hubert who
collected all exeptional rules and put it in a database. Rumors say it has more
then 1 million entries and he seems not to be willing to share it with Apple or
Apple might be not interested in it. For example: if you put an f at the end of
a word it means a certain endig but only if it sits at the end of certain
words. At the end of other words it’s just meant as an f. The computer needs to
know in which case which end to put, And this is very difficult in german.
Apple uses a free available braille contraction table for german braille but
this is very unprecise in terms of these rules. And so it’s not funny to use
Apples version of contracted braille in german. And to stress the stereotype
once again: german things are mostly well done but sometimes too complicated.
;-)

Re: Question about Deleting Trash from a POP3 Mail Folder

2019-05-27 Thread Craig Werner
Ah yes, there's the button, big as life. Thank you. I was so sure
that the answer might lie in the "Mailbox Behaviors" tab of the Mail
settings that it did not occur to me to check the first tab in the
series. I have pressed the "remove now" button and then deleted all
of the messages in my Mac's "trash" folder. I have also set the
"delete" period from now on to one week. We'll see if the odd
behavior recurs.

Thank you, Tim.

Hi,

Sorry for being unclear. The "remove Now" should be in Mail Prefs, Accounts,
Account Information pane. Pressing this button removes copies of messages from
the server immediately instead of waiting for the schedule. It doesn't really
address your issue, but will totally quash the idea that it has anything to do

Good point. How about having a hotkey toggle for switching in an out
of Braille input mode? Say, VO with some key or another to turn on
Braille and a chorded shortcut to switch back to the qwerty layout.
You can't use more than one keyboard at a time in any case.

I was under the impression that German Braille was very well
constructed albeit a little rule-heavy, not wishing to get into German
stereotypes, of course. *smile*

Re: To Add to the idea

2019-05-27 Thread Jürgen Fleger
I’d personally prefere only a solution via the Trackpad. I’d like to keep both
input methods simultaniously usable, normal keaboard via the Keyboard and
braille keyboard via Trackpad. Otherwise what’s the benefit changing keyboard
layout of the normal keyboard? Especially because contracted braille in my
mother tongue, german, is a little catastrophy. It’s so full of wrong
contraction rules it’s nearly useless. And I’m writing very fast using my 10
fingers. But to have both methods abailable at the same time would be very
handy.

Re: Airplay confusion.

2019-05-27 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It's possible that it's the fault of the older Airport Express as you've
suggested. The processor in the older one is slower, it does not support all
the same features as the newer models, and usually only updates to a version of
software that does not support all the newer features. These, of course, are
just educated guesses as I don't have an older Express around to confirm.

But when i am connected to the newer airport express and do the same the music

Also the newer express device is called something like multirout or something

Is this because the newer airport express has support for airplay 2?
If so then i have to try to find a refurbished one for my kitchen.

Re: Question about Deleting Trash from a POP3 Mail Folder

2019-05-27 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

I'd tend to agree with your assessment. In a POP account, the messages are
brought to your computer, and depending on your additional settings, are
removed from the server at specific intervals set by you. There could be
confusion when there is multiple accounts in your Mail app, but I'm grasping
here. I suggest that you tell the Mail app to remove the messages from the
server. There should be a "Remove Now" button in the Account Information pane
of this screen.

One can turn off Background App Refresh for FaceBook in Settings, General,

Re: Just a thought, an idea for VO on Mac OS

2019-05-27 Thread B G
Do you mean the trackpad? My addition to the idea should address that.
You would use your qwerty keys to input Braille. To recap, F, D, S, J,
K, L would correspond to dots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; and a and the
semicolon to 7 and 8. Of course, one could build upon that and
introduce the chord concept first modeled by Blazy Engineering in
their BnS products. The basis for the idea being the combination of
the space key (or bar) with a Braille character to execute commands
e.g. space-o (i.e. space together with dots 1, 3, and 5) to substitute
for command (Apple) o for opening a file/folder; you get the idea.
*smile*
on the MacBook keyboard this would solve - at least in part -
negotiating with the overly compactness of the keyboard as some might
see it. it would certainly increase input speed and reduce error
corollation as it were on the conventional qwerty keyboard. Worth a
reminder that the existing qwerty layout was designed - the original
design was in fact altered - in order to save early typewriters from
fast typists who were apparently wrecking them with merciless
dexterity. *smile*
Comments, criticisms, suggestions, all welcome.

Question about Deleting Trash from a POP3 Mail Folder

2019-05-27 Thread Craig Werner
Hello, everyone, and Happy Memorial Day to U.S. readers.

I use Apple Mail on a MacBook Air running Mojave 10.14.4. Under "Mail
Settings -> Accounts -> Mailbox Behaviors," I have set mail to be
deleted from the trash folder after one month. I recently went to the
bottom of my Trash index, something I rarely do, and found messages
much older than a month. Some even went back to 2018. An Apple
Accessibility rep told me this is a behavior controlled by my mail
provider, but I don't think so. In a POP account, shouldn't this
mailbox setting be honored on the Mac without server intervention?

Thanks for all help.

Craig

RE: apple watch sync issue

2019-05-27 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Simon,

Is your Apple Watch the LTE model? If so, this would definitely explain your
issue.

I believe you live in New Zealand. So, I don’t know how things work down there
but here in the US, changing cell providers involves switching out SIM cards.

Sometimes, I’ve had to reset the phone, essentially reactivating the device
with the new SIM card installed.

If your watch is not the LTE model, then, I would suggest that you first,
unpair, essentially wiping clean, the watch from your iCloud account, then
re-paring the watch to your phone.

I believe that the key to resolving your issue will greatly depend upon which
version of Apple Watch you own.

However, having said all of this, were I you, my first step would be to wipe
the watch and re-pair it to your phone.

Mark

To Add to the idea

2019-05-27 Thread B G
One could have some of the qwerty keys turned into Braille input keys
- similar to the the idea originally introduced by Duxbury in the
90's. Thus, your f, d, s, j, k, l keys would map to dots 1, 2, 3, 4,
5, 6, and the a and ; (semicolon) keys to dots 7 and 8.

What do we think?

Can we make money from you wanting us to submit this idea to them?

Yep sure I'll send the idea to them for 1000 US Dollars,

 In small green unmarked bills,

I've sent Apple my feature suggestion. May I encourage those of you in favour
to contact them as well? As stated already the greater the number the higher
the likelihood of it gaining traction.

RE: Just a thought, an idea for VO on Mac OS

2019-05-27 Thread Simon Fogarty
Not a bad thought actually ben,

But theyd have to change the touch pad from the hard pad they have now to
something a bit more interactive like a phone screen
Great idea.

RE: powerbeats pro

2019-05-27 Thread Simon Fogarty
Interesting,

It almost sounds like what apple thought they were doing with the airpods
They ended up doing with the power beats pro instead.
Strange how the beats have all the features apple should have.

They don’t switch automatically, but they do switch quickly. Another thing
that happens, is say you last used them with your iPhone, but your iPad is
closer, it will give you audio from iPad 1st, before phone. Keep in mind you
can always switch sources by going to control center, and choosing from audio
root.

Hi List,

I believe a few people have tried out the powerbeats pro headphones which were
released a couple of weeks ago,

Just wondering if anyones tried them with automatically switching between
different devices and if so how successful they were?

As the apple airpods choose when they want to switch if at all, do the
powerbeats pro switch at all and if so how well?

Chers for any info
