Re: speaking rate for vo on a Mac

2020-01-07 Thread Katie Zodrow
Hi, Lorie. If you want to slow the speech down without going into the Voiceover
Utility, hold down the command and VO keys and press the left or right arrow
until Alex says speaking rate. You can adjust the rate of the voice by holding
down the command and VO keys and hitting down or up arrow to increase or
decrease the speech rate. This is a quick way to adjust the speech settings for
Voiceover like the voice and intonation on the fly.
Hope that helps.
Thanks.

RE: iClever bluetooth keyboard

2020-01-07 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Andrew,

I know when I paired mine to my iPhone and iPad I pressed the
Fn plus c to connect the phone then I thought it was Fn plus I possibly for my
second device,
I thought there were instructions with the keyboard but I may have that wrong
now.

Hi Donna,

I’ve just tried to pair it with my iPhone having paired it first with my
Android phone and it’s no go. My iPhone doesn’t see it. Unless I’m pressing
the wrong pairing key. For my Android I pressed fn + C key and the Android
could discover it and pair. I did the same with my iPhone but no luck. i
can’t find any documentation on the internet for it. I like the size of this
foldable keyboard. It would be a bonus to be able to use it with more than one
device.

Thanks for your response.

I can only assume that it's the 2020 iPhone but leaked details / images already?

Has anyone else seen / heard this pop up?

2020-01-07 Thread Maria Reyes
Apparently not. I just know that I have a Gmail account and most of the
messages go into my inbox. I only see about 5 or 6 messages in the Junk folder.
I don't know about other accounts but I've heard you can set some kind of
filter for your gmail account so your mail will go to your inbox.

2020-01-07 Thread Bradford Snyder
That won’t do it.
When I first joined this list, all my incoming messages from the group were
going to my Junk folder. Nothing I did in the Apple Mail client fixed this.
What I had to do, was login to my AT&T/Yahoo mail account, and through the web
access, go in to my Junk folder, and select a mail item from the group, and
mark it as “Not Junk”, and that fixed it.

How to change an incoming e-mail from going to Junk to going to Inbox in Mail

2020-01-07 Thread Kevin Gibbs
Guys,
I almost never post here. I’ve just noticed that one of the mailing lists to
which I subscribe is having its posts always sent to the Junk box in Mac aMail.
I have no idea why. I’ve been a member of this list for years and this
behavior seems to have just started within the last week. I’ve tried
correcting it through both the Gmail web interface and Mac Mail without
success. No idea what to do.
Sorry if I’m not giving you enough information.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

RE: Using a Focus braille display with Mac and IOS?

2020-01-07 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

Okay, I discovered the problem.

>From the VoiceOver Utility dialog box, I removed the Focus from the list of
>Braille displays and then, re-added it and now all is as it should be.

The display is working like a champ.

Kawal, I cannot reproduce your original issue of being bounced out of the Mail
app when writing / replying to an email.

Regardless of the various Layout Settings, the Focus is performing as expected.

Hi all,

I am replying to this e-mail using an original Focus 40 Blue display. As you
can see, I am typing just fine. I can press Chord D and that deletes the last
character I typed. I’ve not tried other Chord commands as yet because I am more
used to a regular keyboard, but if one works I’d be others would as well. For
what it might be worth, my VO Braille settings are set to English US output,
allow contracted Braille is unchecked, use 8-dot Braille is checked, and use
automatic Braille translation is unchecked. I’m discovering that if you alter
even one of the above settings, that can make a difference for what works and
does not. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

 Hi ET,
When you open text editor, it defaults to showing a list of recently

and open files in iCloud drive.
In Voice Dream Writer, the easiest way is by opening the File Manager. All
your recently opened files will show up there. (Note that you will want to
enable iCloud syncing.) Alternatively, you can select Add Document, which
is at the top left of the screen, right next to the File Manager button..
Then select Import from External Location. Then you'll have a choice
between Recents, and Browse. If you Select Browse, and iCloud is enabled,
that will be one of your options.

Hi ET,
When you open text editor, it defaults to showing a list of recently opened
files. But at the bottom of the screen, there are two buttons, recents, which

iCloud drive.
In Voice Dream Writer, the easiest way is by opening the File Manager. All your
recently opened files will show up there. (Note that you will want to enable
iCloud syncing.) Alternatively, you can select Add Document, which is at the
top left of the screen, right next to the File Manager button.. Then select
Import from External Location. Then you'll have a choice between Recents, and
Browse. If you Select Browse, and iCloud is enabled, that will be one of your
options.

I've been placing certain documents on iCloud Drive for easy access from any

Re: Using a Focus braille display with Mac and IOS?

2020-01-07 Thread Pete De Vasto
Kawal,

First off, make sure that when you try to type something, you are interacting
with the text. Press dots 2+3+6+ space, that gets you into the text, and then
dots 3+5+6+ space to stop interacting. Then, go to the VO Utility, select
Braille, then the Displays tab. Once there, there’s a button to add a command.
Pressing that button will give you a list of each and every key combination
available on your Focus. There are even keys to press the Shift, command and
control keys. I’m wondering if something is locked that would be causing all
your braille character to show as selected. I’m in a hurry to do other things
right now, but wanted to get this off in hopes it could help.

Strategy for reading youtube live stream comments

2020-01-07 Thread Ibraheem Fakir
Hi list,

Recently subscribed to a class taught using youtube live stream and having a
difficult time trying to quickly read comments coming into the stream and
contribute my own comments. Is there a way to set this up so that Voiceover can
be prompted to read the latest comment? There are hundreds of comments
coming in really quickly and having a way to navigate the live conversation
would make participation far more meaningful.

Thank you so much!
Ibraheem

Is there a way to disable Voiceover announcement of braille pattern dots for braille Unicode?

2020-01-07 Thread mohammad suliman
Hello all,
Hope all are doing well!

I have a question: on the mac and iOS also, is there a way to disable
voiceover announcing braille pattern dots for each braille Unicode
character?
I'll give some context: we are developing some website in which we are
showing some data as braille Unicode characters, we want the user to be
able to read this data on the braille display, but we want voiceover speech
to stay silent when going over this data.
Hope my question is clear!

Thanks in advance!
Mohammad

Re: Using a Focus braille display with Mac and IOS?

2020-01-07 Thread 'Kawal Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
Hi Pete.

I am using a 5th or what ever it’s called the latest generation of Focus and I
have changed the settings to what you said.

I can’t type anything using the focus now and if I try, space bar will activate
the spotlight menu and if I try to write chorded grade 2 braille, the voice
over thing will ping and if I hit spacebar it’s the spotlight menu.
I notice all my braille is selected.
So what do you think of that anyone?

Kawal.

I wrote to them about the problems I had on their website as well as in the

when they are going to improve accessibility is a thousand dollar question.
The more of us write to them the better though.

Mine is also BK03 although it is bifold only. Are there any particular key
combination I need to press to pair it with different devices and then to
connect to a chosen one?

Re: iClever bluetooth keyboard

2020-01-07 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries

Re: iCloud Drive and Editors

2020-01-07 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi ET,

When you open text editor, it defaults to showing a list of recently opened
files. But at the bottom of the screen, there are two buttons, recents, which
is selected, and Browse. If you tap browse, you can browse and open files in
iCloud drive.

Then you'll have a choice between Recents, and
Browse. If you Select Browse, and iCloud is enabled, that will be one of your
options.
HTH,
Donna

Re: iCloud Drive and Editors

2020-01-07 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

A problem with the method I mentioned is that it will make a duplicate copy of
the document in the other app. so, for example, if you chose to share the
document to Pages, it would make an editable copy of the document with the
dot-Pages extension. Thus, you would not be specifically working in the same
document as you had originally in the Files app. Not sure if this will be
improved upon in future updates to the Files app, but that's the best I can
suggest for now.

Re: Using a Focus braille display with Mac and IOS?

2020-01-07 Thread Pete De Vasto

Slightly off list topic. Can you post the Vario Ultra mailing list subscription

Thanks.

It appears that The Vario Ultra Braille Display is back

2020-01-07 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

Just passing along a bit of info re the VU braille display, in case it is of
interest.

Yesterday the CEO of a company called InsideVision contacted the VarioUltra
list. He announced that he is the U.S. distributor for the VU and all formerly
Baum--now VisioBraille--products. He also announced that development of the
VU--and I think other braille products--has resumed. His name is Igor
Feinberg, and his contact info is:
igor.feinb...@insidevision-us.com
781-799-2971

For me, of course, this means that I'll be sticking with my VU. But thanks to
all of you for your feedback on the Focus and the Actilino. I'll keep all that
info in mind, should I need it in the future.
Cheers,
Donna
