Re: sending mail

2014-09-13 Thread 'Maxwell Ivey' via MacVisionaries
when you send a new email there should be a field to select which account. it
will be a select bar so you will have to press space then arrow down til you
find the account you want and then press space or enter to accept. if you have
different signatures enabled for different accounts these will automatically be
added to the email after you choose where to send from. hope that helps, max

sending mail: problem choosing contacts

2011-11-18 Thread William Windels
Hello,
About mail in lion, I can't figure out how to select a mail-address when I type
some letters. e.g. if I type erik, I can have multiple matches but I can't find
the list of machos to choose from. On iOS, this seems to work very well because
the choices are visible with voiceover on the screen.

Any help would be great!

Kind regards,
William Windels

Hello!

Simply go to the General tab of Mail preferences. You'll see a popup button
that says "New messages sound" where you can choose your own, or leave it. next
to that, there is a checkbox which says "Play sounds for other actions". Make
sure that is checked.

Re: Sending Mail from wrong account

2014-03-05 Thread Deb Lewis
The only time the default mail account applies is when you invoke mail
fromanother app like the browser. If you're in Mail, either point to
the account you want to send from or shift tab to the from field and
choose the one you want from the combo box of your accounts.

Re: Sending Mail from wrong account

2014-03-05 Thread Brian Fischler
I have had this problem as well. Even though I had my go daddy email account
selected from the drop down box as the email address I was using my gmail
address seemed to over ride that as I learned this when the emails being
responded to were my personal gmail address and not my work go daddy one, not
sure why this happens or how to fix it, just know you are not alone. Wish I had
a solution for you.

Re: Sending Mail from wrong account

2014-03-05 Thread Daniel Hawkins
Same here, And the update did not work. I ended up going to internet accounts
under Preference and deleteing all my email accounts and re logging it in. That
fixed the problem.

It was so bad that when I hit reply to this list and make sure the correct
email is selected and signature, then I would get a Mail delivery failure on a
different email. Went for like this for a week. I even subscribed under a wrong
email to a different list! It was a big pot of stinky poo. But after I tried
everything and gave up and just deleted all my email accounts and re logged in.
Fixed it!

Re: Sending Mail from wrong account

2014-03-05 Thread Daniel Hawkins
yes, Before I could hit reply and it will say the correct email I want from the
From dropdown box, but once sent it will be sent from a different account.

I had a total of 6 email accounts. two of them I could not send email due to
the fact they acually send from a different account even I told it the email I
acually wanted.

So if you just reset the email and relogin again, that will fix the problem.

On the other hand, if anyone brave enough and go to the library folder and
delete that that may help, but not sure.

Re: Sending Mail from wrong account

2014-03-05 Thread Brian Fischler
I am not sure as I have completely removed gmail from this computer, but can
tell you that I am still having a lot of issues with mammal as far as
sluggishness and in standard view sometimes the right arrow will open a thread
of articles and other times it does not. I have never been able to get VO
backslash to open a thread of messages yet if I go in to the mailbox table VO
backslash works perfectly fine opening a mailbox so I can view the mailboxes
subfolders. So strange that Apple just can't seem to get mac mail working and
working the same way day to day in Mavericks. The Mac Mail issues is not just
VoiceOver related as I have seen a lot of articles of people still having
serious issues with Mac Mail, so somebody dropped the ball big time in the
design and working of Mac Mail. To bad as everything worked pretty good in
Mountain Lion.

Conflict between sending mail from mac and receiving on a PC

2022-01-15 Thread Gabe Griffith
Hello all,

I'll try to explain my situation and see if anyone has come across this or has
any thoughts.

I'm the president of a board and we have an email list not unlike this one.
When I send emails to the list it seems people reading them on a mac or iPhone
can read the text of the emails but for pretty much any members who are reading
the emails on a PC does not see the text. They are able to access any
attachments but the rest of the body of the email appears blank. One of my
board members has tested this by looking at the emails on both his PC and his
iPhone.

I very much look forward to hearing any suggestions.

Thank you,

Gabe

2022-01-16 Thread joseph hodge
Dave suggestion is really good and that could be the cause although I’m not
sure if you did that and sent that message just a bit ago. The other thought I
had was it could be a font issue. I have this issue come up once when using Mac
while at work while others were on windows. I had a font that some folks didn’t
have. Wondering if it could be that?

I've never experienced any issue with fonts, but I don't use any fancy fonts
either.
When using the Mail app on my Mac, I use Helvetica which is the standard font.
When using Outlook on my PC, I use Ariel, also a standard font.
I use the native mail app on my iPhone, and whatever is The default font is
what is used.

RE: Conflict between sending mail from mac and receiving on a PC

2022-01-16 Thread Brad Snyder
I have tested reading this message on both my Mac and my PC using Outlook
(latest Microsoft365), as well as my iPhone, with no issues reading the
message. I am writing this reply using Outlook on my PC. My Outlook is set to
compose in HTML, using Arial 12 pt. font. My Outlook is set to read both HTML
and Plain Text messages, using Arial 12 pt. font.

I'd like to say that the issue has to do with settings on the receiving
computer's mail client, but since you say this issue is being experienced by
all who receive your messages on Windows, I tend to doubt it is due to a
setting on the receiving end, and not the sending end.

I am interested in feedback on if this message is able to be read on a Windows
PC without issue.

Re: Conflict between sending mail from mac and receiving on a PC

2022-01-16 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Often, as VO users, the testing of reading vs visible to the sighted user is
awkward. The font size could be so small that a sighted user won’t be able to
read it, but VO doesn’t care as it is simply taking the text and voicing it.
Similarly, if the font colour was the same as the background, the sighted
person won’t be able to read the text where VO again reads just fine. One of
the few advantages to using VO :).

I also do not believe that HTML vs Plain Text should make any difference. Font
could be a factor, although so many fonts nowadays are standard in most OS’s.

Tim brings up good points, however, even if the font size is very small and

Hello,
I used to experience something like this in reverse. My father used to send me
emails that I could read with voiceover but anybody else in thee family said
were completely blank. He wcomposed his messages with High Contrast mode on the
windows system. If one used vo-T to query information about the text
attributes it would tell me that it was white on white.

Re: Conflict between sending mail from mac and receiving on a PC

2022-01-17 Thread Gabe Griffith
Hi all,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have had an issue in the past of sending
something that said it was in 18 point font on my end but when a friend
received it on her windows computer it said it was something like 13.5 point.

These are all blind folks so they are all using screen readers. The issue of it
being something like white on white would explain it if there were sighted
people trying to read it but that isn’t the case.

I did just buy a new 14 inch MacBook Pro this morning which is upgrading from
my old 2011 MacBook so maybe it will resolve itself with the new computer. I
can hope so anyway, right?

I do appreciate all the suggestions and will hang on to what was said in this
thread in case it continues to be an issue.

Thanks,

Gabe

It should have a newer version of everything, including Apple Mail - if
that's what you're using to send messages to the mailing list.

Re: Conflict between sending mail from mac and receiving on a PC

2022-01-18 Thread Brad Snyder
I’ve been using a Mac for a long time, and I don’t see how an older version of
the Mac’s Mail app could be causing this issue.
I would expect that a MacBook from 2011 should have been updated to at least
High Sierra (macOS 10.13.x), so I would eliminate that as the cause of the
issue, and look elsewhere.
