can't be. That would be an Atlanta Q Or a Q's Q, because it is in the hometown of Mr. Q, who comes up will all the gizmos and gadgets we need for out MBs. By the way, I have searched several times for the freestanding plastic clips that snap around the OM60x injection lines, and was told they were NLA. Yesterday Rusty (AKA Mr. Q) found them for me. [MBZ] RustyQ/Superdiesel ListQ September 10th, 2011
Everyone is cordially invited to a gathering of Mercedes enthusiasts this fall in Atlanta on September 10th. As in past RustyQ's, hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and soft drinks will be served. Anyone can feel free to bring appetizers, side dishes, deserts etc. for all to enjoy. For anyone desiring alcoholic beverages this year will be BYOB. Due to my weird illness, it has been a while since we had a Q, but Rolf Martin-Hoster of Super Diesel list fame has volunteered to assist in this undertaking. In the past it was getting too big for my wife and I to tackle by ourselves. So anyone that is interested in coming please let me know so I can keep a running RSVP list to see if we can make this happen again. Let's line those cars up, open the hoods, doors and trunks and tell all sorts of lies about our great cars. Time and place to be announced once we get a better idea of attendance. Start soaking the tubing fittings NOW with atf/acetone or the penetrating oil of your choice. The job is pretty self-evident. Unhook the tubing, unbolt the top and bottom and remove. To get the tubing out, you may need to take both ends of the tubing loose. Or, leave it hang and pull the strut off the tubing when the strut is loose. I liked that show when it was on. been gone for years here. Not may shows on the boob tube here that are fairly realistic depiction of small town life in the US. Northern exposure was the last one I can recall. Not sure that one fits the realistic depiction criteria either. But it did have some characters that might be found in an alaska small town. In Disk Manager you should be able to pick arbitrary drive assignments. (mmc, disk management) I just tried it in S2008r2, didn't complain that it wasn't allowed, at least. I can't promise everything will work but it should boot. You will still need to watch your installs, a lot of them are %Program Files% which will be on your boot drive, regardless of name. Actually it's been a long time since I've seen a Windows installer that wasn't a *nix conversion that used a fixed path name. Re: [MBZ] Manual link request
Nope, as Max said. when you release the strut upper or lower connection, the LCA will extend down an inch or two. If you want to be a purist, put a jack under the LCA and let it down slowly until the spring is loose. Assembly is reverse. You can jack up the LCA while holding the spring and its seats in place, then mount the strut. No spring compressor needed for Rear springs from 1959 until the end of 124 and 126 at least. kleb and other may contribute info about later models, but I think they are the same. I seem to recall that you needed a spring compressor to remove the rear wagon struts but didn't see that mentioned. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Ja, You should be able to do it with the disk mgt MMC after installation. I have not done Winders 7 install, but prior versions, in the blue screen part of intallation allowed you to delete partitions, create partitions and tell winders where to install. (IE, D:\ ) and I see no reason why winders 7 would not allow that. However the OEM preinstall that comes on a box from a factory (dell) may NOT allow you to do this. Retail boxed OS, MSDN subscription, and corporate license versions will let you manage installation. If you use the preinstalled re-install option, you generally don't get options, just whatever the OEM decided it wants to foist on you. [MBZ] Orphans' home report
Can there be another vehicle maker with a recent history as beset by turbulence as Saab? Having been pushed into liquidation by General Motors in early 2010 after the withdrawal of Koenigsegg’s takeover bid, then unexpectedly rescued by Victor Muller’s Spyker Cars, the company is now awaiting new funds from China. But what would Hawtai Motor Group taking an equity stake mean for Saab’s future? Glenn Brooks considers what’s likely to be ahead. While Saab anxiously awaits the Swedish Debt Office’s approval (or rejection) of a proposed share sale to Hawtai, a small, privately-owned SUV specialist, the single line at its Trollhättan plant remains stopped. Even if the EUR150m (US$210m) pledged to the company by its potential new Chinese shareholder allows Saab to be recapitalised in the coming days, it will take some time to rebuild global vehicle inventory, not to mention supplier, dealer and customer confidence worldwide. Supposing that it survives, the first priority for Saab ought to be a worldwide PR initiative, to simply point out via one high-profile campaign that the company is alive and well. But the idea would have to be simple, striking and logically, push the firm’s underdog status. Recent history suggests that this could work as long as it was slickly executed and able to catch the imagination of social media networks in the largest global markets. The town of Trollhättan might lack an equivalent of MoTown’s very own Mr Marshall Mathers, yet if Chrysler can use Eminem to imbue the 200 Sedan with Made In Detroit cachet, surely it can’t be that hard to relaunch Saab with a Scandi-cool campaign featuring the 9-5? Cynics should note that while the 200 hasn’t much thrilled the enthusiast press in the USA, the car’s sales were last month up 50% year on year over the former Sebring sedan, thanks in no small part to that ad campaign. Saab should also tell the world all about its new potential shareholder and likely future owner. Right now, there are all sorts of pieces of information and misinformation floating around. Hawtai (formerly translated into the Roman alphabet as Huatai), has none of the glamour of Spyker’s supercar heritage, yet citing the gritty Chrysler example again, will potential Saab buyers really be put off to know about the new owner’s origins as an assembler of old Hyundais? After all, Hyundai itself, currently one of the world’s fastest growing brands, was as recently as 2005 still building clunkily-styled SUVs and chintzy luxo-barges based on outdated Mitsubishi platforms. Hawtai is itself a firm that likes to go against the grain, in much the same way as Saab was once famous for doing. It might not build cars with wraparound glazing and fan-pattern alloy-wheels inspired by features of Viggen fighter jets, but its decision to focus on clean-diesel technology in a country where use of the fuel for passenger cars is starting to take off, was visionary. Indeed, the firm, which is controlled by the entrepreneur Zhang Xiugen, has tried to stay out of the limelight, in a way that contrasts with its larger rivals BYD, Chery Auto and Geely Auto. Yet Hawtai is arguably far more worthy of positive publicity as it tries to quietly get on with the business of growth and innovation. Some of the reason why Hawtai has shied away from trying to become a major national brand is simply its size. Unlike the rivals mentioned above, this company has only two production plants, with the more modern of the two located in Inner Mongolia, a region of China not exactly throbbing to the tune of major automotive investment. But by investing in this province, Hawtai is showing something of a maverick spirit, not to mention positioning itself as a firm that sees it must work with the Communist Party and keep its operations physically at a distance from the larger state-run OEMs such as SAIC, FAW and Dongfeng. Hawtai has a self-declared current manufacturing capacity of a mere 350,000 vehicles a year but the Erdos plant in Inner Mongolia as well as an older facility in Roncheng (Shandong province) are each being readied for new products. Critics might well point out that the company’s current model range consists mostly of restyled Hyundai Santa Fe and Terracan models but that is only one part of the picture. Part of the Erdos manufacturing complex is dedicated to the production of state of the art diesel engines. Hawtai has licensed technology from both Hyundai and VM Motori. Currently it builds 1.5-litre three-cylinder (OED383Q) as well as 2.0-litre (OED483Q), 2.5-litre (OED492Q) and 2.8-litre (OED494Q) four-cylinder units, along with a 2.9-litre V6 (OED6V83Q). Diesel production capacity is claimed to be one million units a year, while Erdos also has a stated annual capacity for some 300,000 four- and six-speed gearboxes. Clearly then, there are plans for a major increase in vehicle output. The Hyundai-based SUVs sell in relatively

If it is not the ground, then the OVP relay is the next suspect. Do you have another car with OVP you can swap? that is the easiest test. It is the way I like to test Klima relays too. Yeah, I know Nobody else's ever fail. But most of my cars with KLIMA relays have had KLIMAs that failed. Speaking of windows, I have a situation I need to resolve. We had a computer crash after a power outage, either a bad PS or bad MOBO, I don't know which. Replaced the computer, which nastily enough had Windows 7 installed. The instrument tech downgraded to XP (this computer runs a liquid chromatagraphy workstation, using proprietary software that will not run under Windows 7). I pulled the driver from the old computer when I got back from vacation, and stuffed it into my USB external enclosure, to find that the new computer reports it as unformated! It appears as a normal NT32 driver on my TiBook using the same adapter, so I'm going to copy the relevant files off to a DVD-RAM disk later in the week and hopefully move them onto the new machine. My question is what in the . causes the new computer to not recognized a perfectly good drive? Is there something with Windows 7, downgraded or not to XP, or is it just a pile of excrement? And for those that are not aware, on the Mac all you have to do to be in that nice comfortable Unix environment, Bourne shell and all, is start up the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. to recap: Old computer died. New computer running XP. Is it XP Pro? You took the hard drive out of the old computer, put it in a usb case, and plugged it into new computer. New computer reports old drive as unformatted. Question is: WHY? Same unit plugged in to a Mac laptop shows up as a normal NT disk. I don't have an answer yet.
