They’re not bad if well cared for. Like any small, high revving engine, oil changes are critical for them. There are known issues with supercharger seals and leakage, but again, these are known and not terrible to deal with. If you like the chassis, look for an SLK320, as it has the M112 engine in it, the same one that’s in most of the W210 chassis cars. It’s pretty bulletproof and the performance is as good if not better. By now, nearly all of these cars need or have had replaced their hard top hydraulic cylinder seals. This is a DIY job but it’s really unpleasant. I had read that at one point. The suggestion was that the number of real issues found was very small compared to the expense of having them. I don't remember if there was another, less invasive procedure to replace it or if it just wasn't worth it. So ran this ML again which ended last night at over $3k. Just like the first time, no response from high bidder. It has not yet been 24 hours but I am not holding my breath. After doing a little research on the ebay forums, come to find out, in vehicle auctions the deadbeat bidder does not even get an unpaid item strike as they consider these auctions non binding. WTF? There is absolutely no way to hold these buyers accountable at all. Not only that, you have to pay each time to relist it. My guy always gives me the liquid you mix with Sprite or something like that to mask the taste. One dose around 3:00-4:00 pm then the other around 9:00-10:00 pm. Completely emptied out and ready for bed before midnight for a morning procedure. I fast regularly, so going the better part of a day without a meal isn’t a big deal. I don’t mess with the broth crap or the special diet, I just don’t eat. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see what happens. I had this issue with one before and that reset the canbus. In my case it turned out to be the right read window motor causing it. Since it was never used anyway I pulled the wire for it out of the harmonica connector. What I would do, if the battery reset fixes it and it comes back. Just do a one at a time disconnect battery, remove one of the lines from the connector, reconnect the battery and wait a few days to see if it stops working again before moving to the next line. When I picked mine up, the driver's seat went forward and not back. Drove 900mi home with the wheel in my face, and learned that to fix it I had to run it forward, hold the switch for 30 seconds, backwards, hold for 30 seconds, and then it was reprogrammed. Wish I'd pulled out my computer and emailed the list before I left Peabody. anyone have any clue why (driver) seat controls stop working (I don't think it is the switch on the door, not sure why that would go bad), as in one day it works the next it doesn't? Is it the seat control module that is under the seat? I CHECKED THE FUSE And the window gets wonky sometimes too and needs to be reset every time or two to go up and down. Yes, much less. I paid $4k for his 2002 E320 with around 89k on the clock in 2017. It’s still running strong with almost nothing in the way of repairs other than a crank position sensor that died a couple of years ago. They’re common enough that I keep one on the shelf.
