That is a pretty long history! Not really that surprising as the "older"
generations seem to not be part of the throw away generation we are seeing
today. I was introduced to this group and encouraged to get involved by
Dan and Manfred and in my quest for a seasoned Mercedes W123 wagon, this
group will certainly be of benefit to me! I appreciate knowing some of the
history behind this effort and I will certainly use the knowledge available
for good and not evil!

Change your fuses seems to be pretty solid advice. Is this a frequent
problem/occurrence or a once a year type of event?

Thanks! Kyle

Clay,

That is so true! Looking for the past month and before joining this list
and 2 other MB forums I feel that I have a good idea of what these cars are
going for. That being said, one of the reasons for joining this merry band
of travelers is to get some help with finding this car, making friends in
this community, and trying to not get screwed by a seller. hahaha! Saving
us a trip up north would be pretty amazing! Appreciate that for sure!
I will have to make a note on my growing list of "what to look at" about
the seals and such.
Thanks!

Karl,

I would like to see as many examples as possible so I understand better
what I am getting when we do finally purchase a car. Cali is a haul, no
doubt, and I am unsure of shipping costs from there to Florida. We would
do that for the "right" car for our family.

This is so helpful! I really do NOT want to get taken to the cleaners on a
car, and that is why my first inclination was to meet people in the "club"
and attempt to get a wagon from someone known, or at least suspected, of
loving their car!

What you are saying makes perfect sense, and which is why I would prefer to
get a car from someone who knows what it is and has done the work on it to
keep it running reliably and take the advice of people who know these
cars.

Since this is hopefully the last car I buy for 10+ years, I just have to

No harm no foul, as I will have to stay tough in negotiations! I can
always use the " that includes the travel and fuel driving back expenses"

Oh... You are talking about Andrew... not the craigslist ad in Charleston
South Carolina. These threads are somewhat hard for me to follow along

hahaha! I was hopeful that I had not disappointed Curley to that point
quite yet...

So is it worth flying to California to buy a "perfect" 123 wagon for 16K?
Opinions please. I do know there is no such thing as a perfect car,
but, you can get it pretty close. It is a guy on peachparts and he is
going to be sending me pictures. bwhitmore is the user name. He doesnt
have a gallery so I couldnt see the car. Here is what he sent me.

*Kyle - I have a 1983 300TD wagon that fits your description however I am
in Southern California and my price is $16K. The car is white with Palomino
interior with 137, 545 miles. Everything (AC, cruise, SLS, engine trans,
door locks, etc.) works perfectly. I am the second owner of the car which
was sold new by Stahl Motors Mercedes in Monterey, Ca (now called Mercedes
of Monterey). I have all service records since new plus all of the original
manuals for the car. The car is 95% original paint with no rust ever. The
hood and the small panels below the headlights were painted due to stone
chips. The interior is immaculate with a no crack dash and perfect Zebrano
wood. The carpets and seats (MBTex) are like new including the cargo area
carpet. Work on the car within the last year includes: New AC
compressor/receiver drier/expansion valve Rebuilt transmission New, genuine
MBZ vacuum pump New genuine MBZ timing chain and guides/tensioner New
genuine MBZ SLS accumulators New tires I am a W123 enthusiast and also own
a W123 coupe and sedan. The work mentioned above (with the exception of the
AC work and transmission) was done as part of my routine maintenance
schedule. The car has received regular 3,000 mile oil changes along with
fuel filters every 6,000 miles and valve adjustment every 8,000 miles. If
interested, I am glad to send pictures. Thanks. Bill Whitmore*

Yep sad to see that end for sure! Well, you may as well wait until you get
a new machine and it will come with the Win10. I dont feel that there is
much sense buying something for an older computer that has a greater chance
of a hardware failure.

Re: [MBZ] OT - Windows?

2016-12-20 Thread Kyle Arola via Mercedes
Totally correct, always set the advanced update settings to "notify to
schedule restart" and that disables the autoreboot that you experienced.

Win10 is faster, lighter, and takes up less space on your hard drive. All
good reasons to update. Also, in 2020 Win7 drops out of microsofts support.
