Geez. That's sucks. Sorry Kaleb. The damage to the bucket truck isn't bad.
But, I'm guessing it is still going to be pricey.

Subject: [MBZ] I give up, just shoot me now please

Wife, who is driving my primary work vehicle which I have poured a TON of money
and work into, and it is a VERY reliable vehicle at 340k miles, just texted me
this. Last photo is the damage to the other car, which appears to be a slight
scratch on the bumper of a bucket truck. Not sure if I can bring this one back
to life. Unbelievable. I have had this car for 8 years or so. I highly suspect
texting while driving.

would need to effectuate a remedy on the spot to replace the thing. Or bring a

How is it that she is still able to drive a car? The insurance company
must have jacked your rates through the roof, to the point it is not
economical for Regina to be allowed behind a wheel. Maybe you need to
find a Yugo or some other junker sort for her to drive and just be
able to crush when she does this kind of thing.

Yeah come get this diesel, you can deal with the glow plugs or whatever
is throwing the codes.  Put that valance on it and it will be a nice
looking car, should run OK after you deal with those code issues.

I bought it for $500, bought a few bits for it, new wheel/tire, rear
light, coupla other things, need to get that rear window regulator
replaced, but I'd let it go for $600 or a bit more if I have to buy a
regulator.  Or if you want me to fool with the code issues we can sort
that out.  It's gonna need a set of tires, not sure I would drive from
here to Okieland on the ones on there, but maybe they would be OK,. they
are just worn.

I am FOR SURE even more interested in his beater 210 now. I guess I should bite

Yes. At this rate I’m going to have to take up a collector to fund the
purchase of some other unloved Benz’s. Mine seem to be dropping like flies.

She has gotten my money’s worth on AAA. We have the 5 tows per year and I think
this is probably number 5 today. I have not used mine at all.

Re: [MBZ] I give up, just shoot me now please

2017-10-30 Thread Kaleb C. Striplin via Mercedes
Yet, it’s always my fault some how. The last car I had her in was the 140 which
caught on fire. I had to put her in this car when that happened, otherwise I
would be driving this car. It’s the one you rode in when you were here. I got
the 140 going again pretty easily but it’s got a strange issue with the
ignition switch now. At first I thought it was related to the fire but now I
don’t think so. It started getting to when you turned the key on none of the
dash lights would light up. If you moved the key back slightly it would kick
on, so it seems like a contact issue in the switch. I did not want to put that
car back into service until o addresses that but looks like o have no choice.
It’s either that or she can drive the SDL, which I don’t really want to see
torn up.

The kids blown up e430 is still out there and beat all to hell. Maybe i should
slap another radiator it it and let her drive that.

Hard to tell from the pics, but I don't see bumper distortion, which leads
me to surmise the uni body frame structure might likely be intact and
unbent.
A careful inspection and a trip across a frame machine would tell that
story properly. otherwise, looks to be sheet metal, ie fender panel and
perhaps hood.

Paint replacements to match.. unbolt, rebolt... fit... done... maybe...

Air bags deploy? [considerable expense there].

Mike's on the right track timing wise. I wonder if there was a special tank for
'85.

Ooooh, I wonder if there was a CA only tank. Yours is a federal (ie 49 state)

as the federal model.

Otherwise maybe a wire got pinched or something.

Something you have not messed with since the tank change is changing the
current the guage is reading.  Only thing I can come up with would be if
the tank is supposed to be grounded to the chassis and maybe the coating on
the new tank is preventing a good ground?

Does the circuit have it's own ground or is it depending on a connection
between the sender and the tank and the tank to the chassis?

Maybe

what model is the gauge in the picture supposed to be for? because 123

since the size of the fuel tanks (and possibly even the final drive

seems like you might be working with the wrong gauge cluster for that car.

Sounds very logical. But where I live there are few high performance
foreign cars. This is one of the places you'd call a Ford Pick-em-up area.
A few weeks ago I bought 15W50 in W'mart - had to search behind the
bottles/jugs of 10W30 to find them but they were there. Yesterday I looked
and there weren't *any* 15W50 M1 jugs or bottles. Then again, I've never
been impressed with the stocking procedures used by wmart - I am on a low
carb diet and finding stuff edible with very low carbs take some hunting.
found some snacks that were great - but after a month or so their stock ran
out and it hasn't been resupplied. This has happened on 4 or 5 different
products. I could *swear* someone is watching and saying, "OK here comes
Larry - let's see what he buys and stop stocking it." But that might be
paranoid. ;-\

Same with the oil - my MBs and 911 all need 15W50 - so today I'll check with
Pepboys. Maybe I'll wear a disguise so they won't know it's me. ;-)

availability depends largely on the area. see, as sick as this sounds to
you, stores don't discriminate inventory based on the customer base. I
worked in retail years ago at a department store with a fairly affluent
clientelle. this chain also had stores with much poorer customers. as a
general rule, the poor stores sold a very high percentage of $59 cookware
sets and the store i was at sold every $800 cookware set within 2 days of
receipt. the poor area stores couldn't sell an $800 cookware set to save
their lives. consequently, we always had tons of $59 cookware sets and
they

always had tons of $800 sets. no one was happy!

here on the north side of atlanta you simply CANNOT find the 15w50 at
walmart because of the all the euro cars. basically, if anyone dunwoody
or

alpharetta sees 15w50, he just grabs it all and runs. all that is left is
the lightweight oil.

so the answer is to go out where everyone drives modern ford pickemup
trucks

that use super light oil. those walmarts will have no 5w30, but lots of
15W50.

simple, no?

When I drove to my nearest Autozone, they didn't have any in stock and
didn't think that they could get any Delvac 1 or Turbo Diesel Truck.
They

did have Delvac 1300 which is normal oil as far as I know.

Re: [MBZ] I give up on Mobil-1

2006-07-01 Thread LT Don

Found the Mobil 1 15W-50 Ext. today in the WalMart in Carroll IA. I cleaned
out the supply on the shelf (7 quarts). Who knows how much longer they will
be offering it?

I also noticed that they have stopped carrying most computer stuff. They did
offer a couple of cordless mice and keyboards plus some blank DVD-Rs (no
CD-Rs or CD-RWs any longer) and a couple of printers. They also had two
different routers for sale. Beyond that, the shelves had been reallocated to
video game stuff. Used to be you could pick up a CD Writer and stuff like
that, but apparently no more.

Re: [MBZ] I give up on Mobil-1

2006-07-01 Thread Gary Hurst

availability depends largely on the area. see, as sick as this sounds to
you, stores don't discriminate inventory based on the customer base. I
worked in retail years ago at a department store with a fairly affluent
clientelle. this chain also had stores with much poorer customers. as a
general rule, the poor stores sold a very high percentage of $59 cookware
sets and the store i was at sold every $800 cookware set within 2 days of
receipt. the poor area stores couldn't sell an $800 cookware set to save
their lives. consequently, we always had tons of $59 cookware sets and they
always had tons of $800 sets. no one was happy!

here on the north side of atlanta you simply CANNOT find the 15w50 at
walmart because of the all the euro cars. basically, if anyone dunwoody or
alpharetta sees 15w50, he just grabs it all and runs. all that is left is
the lightweight oil.

so the answer is to go out where everyone drives modern ford pickemup trucks
that use super light oil. those walmarts will have no 5w30, but lots of
15W50.

simple, no?

That's it. They're on the (vibration) damper, also called
a harmonic balancer.
