I actually have a 280g with an automatic. It too is a right hand drive. I thought maybe the diesel with automatic would decrease performance vs the manual. I realize the benefit of increased mileage with the manual trans. I have gotten stuck with a manual and ended up burning out the clutch. It really does not take long to do that! Re: [MBZ] We all live in a yellow G machine
as someone who spends time several dozens of miles from the nearest pavement, i especially appreciate having a vehicle that doesn't require having 2 working hands and 2 working feet to get out of wherever i am. just a simple sprain to only one extremity can leave you in a position where you could wind up unable to drive out, and possibly in a heap of trouble. (additionally, while i can drive a stick well, not everyone can; any vehicle i use in the services i provide should be drivable by the greatest number of people possible.) in less critical situations, having a good modern automatic trans makes for much more pleasant wheeling in many situations where you have to creep over stuff gently, and less harsh on the vehicle and passengers. having the benefit of the torque converter makes the effective working low gearing work even better as well. there's a guy i know near here with a white 4-door 300GD with a turbo and its matching automatic transplanted into it; it's very close to what i hope to own one day. cheers! e On 18/Aug/11 08:21, drcscru...@aol.com wrote: A question, why would you not like the automatic?
