Re: New mirror apache.officepark.ru
Dear Erik et all, I have added FTP as well: ftp://apache.officepark.ru You may add it to the list of mirrors for Russia. For anyone intended to become a mirror and willing to estimate the resources needed, you may probably consider the following data. The data are for Russia, but probably if you take into account the number of Internet users in your country vs. Russia and number of Apache mirrors for your country vs. Russia, you may come up with some rough figure. Average downloads from http://apache.officepark.ru: 1 GB a day % ofdownloads from inside of Russia: 99.94% Number of Apache mirrors in Russia: 3 Number of Internet users in Russia: 14M Thanks, Denis - URL of mirror: http://apache.officepark.ru - Country where the mirror is located: Russia - Contact email address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Update frequency: every 6 hours (at 1, 7, 13, 19 MSK) - Rsync repository used: rsync.eu.apache.org - Approximate bandwidth: 100 Mbps - I have followed the recommended configuration for my mirror (yes/no): yes Thanks,Denis

Re: New Mirror: apache.tagcon.net
The NH users probably won't have a problem. But when you get on the mirror list and you get 10 or 15 cable modem buggers downloading the latest release all at once your line's gonna sh*t the bed. :) It's just not fast enough is all, no comment on the your quality or intentions which are both honorable and gracious. ok it's fixed. I don't know why RSync is doing this but it appears that I will have to email the creators of Rsync and find out why. Win32 doesn't support symlinks (although recent nt versions support junctions). So you'd need to replace the l option with the L option in your rsync command in order to get rsync to copy file contents. I will be moving my apache directory to a unix server in about 4 hours. Please list our mirror, we want to be part of the Apache Community as we are working on new ways to merge ColdFusion, FrontPage etc with Apache. On 07.10.2004, at 22:18, Apache wrote: Fix as in what way? Not sure what your looking for. Hmm, the problem is that http://www.apache.org/dist/ant/ant-current-bin.zip is a valid resource whereas http://apache.tagcon.net:90/ant/ant-current-bin.zip yields a 404 error. Since this is a mirror it should be identical. For example, we're sending users via pages like http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi directly onto the mirrors and a missing file (or replaced by one with a .lnk extension) will just confuse them. No difference at all other than protocol. In fact, I really don't care too much about FTP mirrors. We add them to our list, but we highly prefer HTTP. There is really almost nothing of interest on www.apache.org. The interesting stuff is contained on the project websites (httpd.apache.org, jakarta.apache.org, etc). Unfortunately, we do not have a good infrastructure in place to allow the mirroring of those sites. But since almost all our bandwidth usage comes from downloads, providing mirrors of apache-dist is a great way to help Apache. Joshua.
