[MLO] Re: Cloud sync questions
Andrey, Just a general conceptual question about syncing with the cloud. Is syncing strictly a manual process, or is there any automatic or background syncing going on? IOW, if I am working at home do I need to sync with the cloud before I go to the office, and then do I need to sync the office computer to the cloud before working on the office computer? What happens if changes are made at home, but not synced to the cloud, then changes are made at the office? When syncing finally occurs is anything lost under that scenario? Just looking for the general concept necessary to make this work, Thanks, Paul -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MyLifeOrganized group. You should sync manually or setup your windows scheduler to sync periodically using MLO command line. Just looking for the general concept necessary to make this work, If you changed different tasks you will be fine after you eventually sync home and office. Changes made home and office will be synced to Cloud. If you changed the same tasks and then sync you will see the conflict resolution window and decide which version if the *task* to use home or office. [MLO] Re: Cloud sync questions
This whole cloud sync, worries me a bit. I understand that the developers would love to have a steady inflow of cash on top of product sales and upgrades, but I get the feeling this is the only reason its out there if you see the way it was pushed out there demanding payment first before it was proven. And to be honest I think rather high price if you look at things like evernote, tiddlyspot, other tools that offer free sync. Also if you scan the desired features lists, at least I did not find anyone asking for cloud sync. I suspect there are a many other features that more people want (simple calendar view, text formatting in the notes, etc.) that have received no attention for years. I also fear that we will see that improving other easy ways of syncing between devices (bluetooth, wifi network, usb, etc.) may now be ignored in order to push us to the extra costs of cloud service. Like I have wanted to use the iPhone version on my iPod (if it ever gets released), but worry that cloud sync might end up the only way to sync... then I am stuck with the extra costs (actual, if I have to cloud sync with my future mobile phoneI will quit MLO and find something more flexible). Well, these are my worries, based on what I see in the emails updates I get, and based on my view and way of working in this world. Others will see it differently, I am sure. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MyLifeOrganized group. On this last point, why not start with trusting that people will behave well and changing the policy if you spot abuse. Already spotted an abuse. Abuse should be pretty easy to spot - you see the same MLO client (identified by their license) and mobile device syncing to new accounts every few weeks. Unfortunately it is not so easy in the current implementation. Besides there are hacked versions. There are trial versions without activation codes. I do trust you personally, Mark and all the registered users, however implementing free trial for Cloud for everybody who downloaded MLO- Desktop for evaluation is not easy for me at the moment. This is why $2.95 for 30 days subscriptions was introduced. Well... if you still think it is too much :) I can offer a workaround. Everybody can post to this tread what you like about MLO (see the instructions in the beginning of the thread): http://groups.google.com/group/mylifeorganized/browse_thread/thread/866fbfdec48f64ce/701760e4612d76c7 Send me the link to your post and I will send you the code for the free Cloud trial.
