They don't. It is their only offer in my area. They call it the
home network in which they supply a wireless AP and a cable modem
and set you for up to 5 computers. I don't need it at all since I
already have my own network (wired and wireless) and NAT.

Maybe I should just wait for a normal offer for a single IP and no

I have to add that a supervisor got offended when I asked her about

 Hello Dan,

 for Opera 7.23
On the main menu bar: File- Preferences (or Alt-P)- Fonts (on the
 left side dialog box)

This brings up the right side dialog box. Select the font use topic
you wish to change (start with Normal, it may be the one you need)
and highlight the font name. Double-click on the font name or click
on the Choose button. This brings up another dialog box that lets
you change the font, size, and other parameters. For my
astigmatism, I like the Helvetica (Adobe) at 14. normal. in black.

 Regards, The Other.
I'm running 7.5. preferences are under tools. Had to change the web page font.
Also, setting the zoom to 120% makes it look good. Now if I can figure how to
view the message instead of the source.
Thanks,
Dan

In two years I've lost my connection three times. The first time

ifdown/ifup my NIC so quickly and without rebooting my computer.

I always _expect_ resistance, but I've been pleasantly surprised

Very interesting. I saw some numbers on Comcast when I was watching
Bulls Bears on Fox this weekend and I was impressed with the growth of
the company and their market share. Now I know why they are growing so
fast and outpacing the competition. I believe the main factor is the
Linux awareness.

This also is a strong indicator to the extent with which Linux has
penetrated the public sector.

One problem Cox has is that all their stuff is M$ based. They are
always having problems in our area and are one of those stupid ISP's
that try to solve their own M$ problems by shutting down their smtp

I am currently also using speakeasy.net. unfortunately, the only thing
available in my area as far as DSL is concerned is IDSL which is
limited to 144K and costs a fortune (~$100 a month). Now Comcast
Internet is also available but I am hesitant to switch. While they are
cheaper, it is still $62 a month for a home network (which I don't
need, but this is all they currently seem to offer) and I am afraid
they will start blocking certain ports one day. The nice thing about
Speakeasy is that the license allows you to run servers on your
connection while Comcast's does not. I am running my own mail server
and I am afraid that Comcast will block it one day, leaving me without
email.

Educate me Todd, and I'll be glad to send you screenshots.

Like Derek said, RSS is Really Simple Syndication, or Rich Site Summary,
or RDF Site Summary, depending on who you ask. It's an XML-type document
that describes the stories on a page. A user can put the RSS URL in an
aggregator and the aggregator displays it. For Linux, there are a few
aggregators: Liferea (rpm available for 9.2 or 10), Syndigator (now in
GTK2), Straw (don't know much about it). There's also an RSS panel
plugin for Mozilla/Firefox.

I'm looking forward to the day when weblogs, news sites, email, usenet
etc. are all integrated in one interface like an aggregator: read a
story on the net via the aggregator, post a reply directly from the
aggregator, or email the author, same with usenet and mail. They're all
just messages, after all.

Hey Yes! Thats really cool.
Just left click on an 'XML' symbol and you get automatically subscribed to

Kaj,

How's the RSS reader? I hear it's integrated with the mail client M2.
It's been a while since I used Opera, but I thought about trying it
again when I heard about it's RSS capabilities. Ya wouldn't be willing
to post a screenie of it displaying an RSS feed, would ya? ;)

Here you are http://www.jennings.homelinux.net/gallery/linux05/opera

Somehow it seems to automatically find rss feeds. Not worked out how yet.
(That is not the standard skin BTW)

Cool, thanks! I'm going to have to give it a try. As far as finding the
feeds, it might be using auto discovery which a lot of aggregators are
using these days. Can you right-click an orange XML button or link and
automatically subscribe? I'll find out soon enough as I plan on trying
  it out.

  Todd

 Hey Yes! Thats really cool.
Just left click on an 'XML' symbol and you get automatically subscribed to
the news feed and the news feed reader opens.

Now I wonder if Internet Explorer can do that? (Silly question)

Now on that one M$ takes the Unix philosophy: do one thing and do it
well. g

Almost get a page before I ask for it.

I got a 3.7 meg dl faster than I could check the speed!

Comcast rocks. It's fast, and they don't block SMTP ports. Their
service kills the competition in my neck of the woods.
