If no one has any good ideas about how to do that the radical solution is still an option. Dimitris, it would still be helpful to me if you could tell me how you know you have Adabas integration when you are looking at the menus inside of StarOffice. Are there Adabas specific menu choices if this gets done properly? I would just like to be able to tell when I have successfully fixed things. smile Traci Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

Re: [newbie] re: staroffice
i had the same problem at first but got it to work.. finally. first, i tried opening it from the konsole, it did nothing. just like pushing enter on an empty line. then i remembered that at the end of the install it said some package was not installed, ( adaba ) .. so, what the heck, i went to their webpage again and downloaded that adaba stuff and installed it. now it works just fine. i configured the link on my desktop to run the link from a console, and it starts ok. note: i did not have this startup problem until i installed JRE. at first i installed Soffice without their JRE and it worked fine From: Dave Sherman [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Mandrake-newbie [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [newbie] re: staroffice Date: 09 Nov 2001 08:03:49 -0600 On Thu, 2001-11-08 at 23:15, Harry Ablejoy wrote: Dave i did default install and clicked on soffice still will not open like linux but installing software will take a little time for me. [newbie] Re: StarOffice 5.2 and Mandrake 8.0 - major problems!
Oops. I guess you're right (I grew up with the metric system and European letter sizes..). Unfortunately this insight doesn't solve my problem. However, it means that SO's horizontal ruler does not measure correctly - and the placement of letters on the screen is screwed up. I wonder whether this is due to X or StarOffice? Thanks for your help, Daniel --- Hans N. wrote: Maybe I'm an idiot for speaking too soon, but I just have to ask...When you say letter sized paper it should be 8.5 inches horizontally less margins by 11 inches vertically, less margins. Figuring a default configuration of margins at .25 inches, then being shown 8 inches of paper makes perfect sense.
[newbie] Re: StarOffice 5.2 printing
Thanks for the tips for getting Star Office to print. It almost works. I changed the "connect" settings to "xpp" and "qtcups" and both will bring up a printer screen. However it still doesn't print out of the printer, even though it says the job is printing or has been sent. I can print out the email I get with Netscape and I can print out of KWord and AbiWord with no problem. Any other ideas??? HELP! Thanks in advance, Ed P.S. KWord is most impressive KDE 2.0 is very cool along with all the Office programs. If you haven't used KWord chk it out, its the best I have seen yet as far a word processors go. Office 2000 better look out!
