That's one thing that I'm pretty sure isn't causing my problem: I've got 1.2G free, and did scandisk and defrag before starting. Sounds like enough people have a similar problem (and no clear solution) that this may be a 7.1 bug. Anyone from Mandrakesoft monitoring this board? Re: [newbie] 7.1 Install freezes at IDE config
Sounds Like you may need to move the cdrom to the second IDE port. Make it clame master, and make shure the harddrive on IDE 1 is clamming master. I have noticed the some times even thoung the cdrom is compatable if you have them on the same IDE chanel that will give it an eror that it can't explain. If that does not solve your problem then there is a problem with the IDE contoler it self. Ie: I had a cdrw drive die on me and caused my system not to boot, but as soon as I removed the cdrw it worked fine. - Original Message - From: "Chua Leap Kee" [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, August 24, 2000 7:36 PM Subject: RE: [newbie] 7.1 Install freezes at IDE config Hi, i'm also having the same problem.
