Good decision B...I feel better now that I'm not alone!! I actually feel like the increase in price solidified my decision. I was on the fence but then as the price went up I said..it's a sign. -P In a message dated 3/9/2007 4:30:22 P.M. Yeah I think it's a standard fee calculated annually or something. I used to work for a performing arts venue, and they had to make annual payments to ASCAP and BMI for performances that covered artists for whom ASCAP/BMI administered royalties. -Derek> On 3/9/07, Z.A. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Excellent point about NEWS, CNOTE, Xpectation, and hell even old Madhouse... Re: NPNY: Prince at 3121 in LV
The whole 3121 concept in my opinion is an experiment...not intended to be revolutionary, almost like a continuation of the "musicology" lessons given to us in 04. The only difference is that he's playing less of his material now and taking a back seat to other artists he believes lives up to the "real musician" standard. When I went to 3121 LV, it was an awesome experience mainy because of the intimacy that these concerts and aftershows give you. I wasn't fortunate to be able to go to any of the celebrations, so I wanted to experience something different than the typical concert atmosphere. As for the musical selection, I agree that it wasn't spectacular, but then again I didn't have any expectations cause I was already familiar with the setlist before I went. In any case, I'm sure everyone knows by now that Prince's setlists are subject to change, sometimes including a new song that we've never heard before. Once the lights go down at a Prince show, who knows what's gonna happen! The covers are ok for now, but as for touring I'd like for it to be his material - most likely it will be if and when he tours again. 3121. What happened 2 the NEWS, C-NOTE and Xpectation material? It's like he 4got he recorded those things. Cuts from those albums r in heavy rotation on my Ipod. I enjoy a cover or 2. "The Best of U" And "All Along The Watchtower" were stellar, but don't get ridiculous. And I don't mind a protege but he doesn't know when 2 stop shoving other people down our throats. I enjoyed seeing Kip Blackshire sing at the aftershow when I was in Vegas. It was a refreshing treat. We tried 2 talk him into doing a show in New York. I like the new girl singer (although that Superbowl white 70's OUTfit and her frantic rain-dance sprinting had me picking up rocks) But I like her because she can sing, but I don't want her showcased heavily every night. Give her a song or two every other show and I'm cool with that. I enjoyed Tamar but that doesn't mean I want another Tamar featuring Prince show. That was OD. I would loved to have seen Kip. Saw him at a ChiTown event and he was so nice and I have both of his CDs. Wednesday night shows don't work for me. But thanks for your opinions Belinda. So I can't believe the prices for Prince in Las Vegas this month. Tickets went from $125 to $175 to $250. I guess the Rio is trying to make as much money before he leaves. Weird right? I'm glad I saw him opening weekend in November for $125 per night. I would've liked to see an aftershow in the restaurant but I'll live. Bring on the tour!
