#ifdef __cplusplus in CoinMP (Solaris Studio)

2012-04-02 Thread Jean-Louis 'Hans' Fuchs
Hello

I have the following error when compiling CoinMP.cpp

CoinMP.h, line 114: Error: Multiple declaration for COIN_MSGLOG_CB.
CoinMP.h, line 120: Error: Multiple declaration for COIN_LPITER_CB.
CoinMP.h, line 127: Error: Multiple declaration for COIN_MIPNODE_CB.

CoinMP.h, line 142: Error: Multiple declaration for MIPNODECALLBACK.

I think I found the problem in CoinMP.h:

109 #ifdef __cplusplus

Here __cplusplus is not defined, I tested that with a #error. I don't know a
good solution. Probably the best one is to define it via CPPFlags. If you need
to look for an alternative define, I use Solaris Studio. I'm glad to help with

[RELEASE]: status update and plan

2012-04-02 Thread Jürgen Schmidt

Hi,

I would like to give short update where we are and how I would like to
move forward.

A detailed QA report was sent by Lily already. Thanks for that

Showstopper Issues:
- Bug 119098 - check/adapt license header based on RAT output and SGA

Work in progress, we have 68 files left that are part of the SGA and we
are working on these files. Either we add a license or include them in
the exclude list with an appropriate comment.

- Bug 119113 - bundled dictionaries are not available when upgrading OOo 3.3

Fix in place that will be tested right now

LICENSE/NOTICE
We are working on this and we are working to update the existing files
for the src releasse. And we create NOTICE/LICENSE snippets that will be
added to the src NOTICE/LICENSE file for our binaries.

A new issue will be created for this.

Plan is to have everything in place until tomorrow.

Translation

We take the updated translations from Pootle (or from issues) and
convert them back into sdf files and integrate them in the svn. Already
done for es. External provided po files will be updated on Pootle as
well (as already done for Finnish, thanks Risto for the update)

This should be also finished tomorrow so that we can start a RC build
immediately after everything is in place.

I hope we can deliver a nice Easter egg for all of us and especially for
our users ;-)

Would it be possible, to define +cplusplus in your environment? If so,
that would be the easiest solution.

Also, we're trying to avoid making modifications to the 3rd party
components, like CoinMP, that we include in OpenOffice. Where at all
possible we want to push the patches upstream and then pick up the fixes
when we integrate their future revisions.

So I would recommend that you also report any CoinMP-related integration
issues with that project: https://projects.coin-or.org/CoinMP

good question where I don't have an answer yet. We have to discuss this
with legal and/or with our mentors.

I think we will need a trustful certificate that is accepted and where we
(or at least one person providing the binary Windows builds) has access to
the private information ...

I don't know if such a certificate already exists and if a process to use
it is in an appropriate and secure way exists as well.

There was a mention of this a few weeks ago, that some at Apache were
exploring the possibility of having code signing certificates for Apache
releases. This was in the thread where we were discussing the anti-virus
warnings about the 3.4 dev builds. But there was no indication of time
frame.

Looking at the Verisign website, it looks like a 1-year Authenticode
certificate costs *$499. *

And I assume that signing an EXE or MSI with a cert would break our
detached PGP signature. So how we would integrate code signing with
release procedures is an interesting question. Ditto for how we would
protect our signing key. I assume we would not want want 90 PPMC members
to have access to it.

We sign the downloadable archives. That means signing the exe, msi with
a cert before we build the archive should be ok.

I know that we did some sophisticated 2 step signing where we signed
dlls (IE plugins) first and included this signed dlls. The whole setup
package was signed again.

The question is more if we can get such an official cert and how we can
use it.

Any ideas how we can drive this important question forward.

this issue?

I assuem it will become even more important for Windows 8.

Well it showed that migrating the old berkeleydb data was manageable as
the data it stored was in a format that could be imported without too
much effort and without any new external dependencies

Issue 119113 is about the extension blobs not being installed because an

legal-discuss:

List of links on apache.org with information regarding the content of the

[6]
http://incubator.apache.org/guides/releasemanagement.html#best-practice-notice

My intepretation of this information and the information given in the thread at
legal-discuss is the following:
- Content of LICENSE file - general conclusion:
-- Apache license at the top
-- Licenses of all 3rd party components included in the specific package of a
release inclusive a clear identification of the files to whose the license
apply.

- Content of NOTICE file - general conclusion:
-- Standard copyright notice as given at [1] at the top
-- Notices which are required by 3rd party component licenses which should be
quite rare.

- Further conclusions by orw for the Apache OpenOffice (incubating) project:
-- We (AOO incubating) are planning to release a source package and binary
packages. The binary package will include certain category-b licensed
components. Thus, I assume that we need for each package an own LICENSE file and
an own NOTICE file.
-- The LICENSE file and the NOTICE file for the source package will cover the
licenses of our source files.
-- The LICENSE files and the NOTICE files for the binary package will cover
additionally all licenses from the enabled category-b licensed components.

If there are no objections I will continue my work regarding the above
interpretations.

There is already feedback on legal-discuss regarding my post.
A short summary:
- It seems that LICENSE file and NOTICE file of integrated Apache projects as
3rd party components need to be considered. E.g. Apache APR
- It seems that notices of 3rd party components which are licensed under the
Apache license need to be considered. E.g. serf
- For our planned binary packages the bundled dictionary extensions need to be
considered.

If you are interested in further details you may have a look at
http://markmail.org/thread/ze722s7ovb5pjdnn

Thus, I will continue my work on this task:
- First I will create a LICENSE file and a NOTICE file for the source package of
our release. These will be the files trunk/main/LICENSE and trunk/main/NOTICE
- Then I will create a LICENSE file and a NOTICE file for the binary packages of
our release. I will name them trunk/main/LICENSE-binary-package and
trunk/main/NOTICE-binary-package

I have finished my rework on the LICENSE file and the NOTICE file regarding the
feedback we have got.

Thx again to Pedro, who already did a great job on these files. And sorry Pedro,
that I have completely restructured the files.

I will continue to rework the newly created files LICENSE|NOTICE_category_b for

issue 116680

2012-04-02 Thread Simon Brouwer

Hi all,

Is there anyone responsible for handling this issue:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=116680 ?

Its status is accepted but so far nothing seems to be done about it.

The upgrade to the newest version of Hunspell should be relatively
easy to do. It adds numerous features that are already supported
by the latest Dutch spell checking dictionaries from the OpenTaal project.

AFAIK LibreOffice already uses the newest Hunspell. In my opinion it
would be a lost opportunity if AOO 3.4 were released without this update.

2012-04-02 Thread Kevin Sisco
My apologies for the null thread. I was talking with people who are
sick of having to load the java access bridge. I propose that on
installation, the user is asked if he would like to use self voicing
mode. This will use Microsoft Narrator which will read the screen.
Just a thought.

On the other hand in the software and on the website the product is still

Are we going to change the name or stick with the old one?
IMO using both sends out a confusing message.

Perhaps we could look at the effort as opensource product design, as much

For my part, I'm interested in re-establishing our user experience design

Hi Kevin,

These are all great points.

One idea. The following page is our primary get involved page for the
project. It is linked to prominently from the www.openoffice.org homepage

That page then links to this help wanted page on the wiki, with more

If you have any suggestions on how these pages could be updated, I can help
you get the changes applied. Actually, for the wiki page, you can just

Also, after 3.4 releases we could have a blog post about user experience

That could help attract interest.

Hi Ochirov,

Well, there is no GUI for the particular settings - all of the
functionality is delivered in the application code, so all you need do
is run a script to active/deactivate/configure the logging mechanism.

The page you reference, and one of the links on it, give you example
scripts for at least Basic and there might be JS also, but not sure if
that ever made it to the wiki.

I have to admit that I've not tried the JDBC logging with the 3.4 code,
used to make use of the feature quite a bit however.

First - if you are unfamiliar with how to use the example Basic script
from the page, I would recommend that you look over the Basic Users
Guide - you will find it at:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/BASIC_Guide

Then I think it's a good reminder to give that functionality a test -
though the QA folks are likely doing so with the automated tests already
(though again I'm not sure on that)..

Anyway - If you need more help with this, let me know and I'll try to do
so..also, I'll put it to the test this afternoon, and post back how that
went..

BTW - what type of database will you be connecting to (mySQL, Embedded
ODB, etc) ?

cut

It looks like it may take a couple of days. I have the same
issue now that I updated the FreeBSD porting site.

I thank you Pedro. I was worried. ;-)
OK I'll wait
But that's very annoying
Mainly, if I would to publish an important news like
3.4 is available!

Folks --

See Dave's message just posted about :
http://incubator.apache.org/openofficeorg/website-local.html

(Maybe these instructions still need work.)

under Publishing.

The Apache web sites operate differently than the old OOo site, in which
a commit automatically enacted a publish on the production site.
Here, your commit changes get enacted on the staging site:

http://ooo-site.staging.apache.org/

and you must take action, publish them, for the changes to appear on the
production site, www.openoffice.org.

Ariel, you can find a new sdf file here

Please note that I've found some build breakers, and I committed the
changes directly on the localize.sdf file (yes, I read the warning 'DO

Build breakers where due to errors in the XML mark up syntax in help

I will check it...

Another question related to the ES translation: now that the translation
is 100% complete (both UI and Help), how should be applied the
modifications made by QA? Can changes be made on the Pootle server, or
better off-line and submit the changes in a issue? If the later, what
should be the format, single modified po files or an sdf file?

I would say the changes should be made on the pootle server. To have for now
one source with the latest translations. But documenting the changes in an
issue is necessary as well that we can track it and know that we have to update.

I will always update the language completely from pootle. I will to do it
somewhat automated ...

As I mentioned earlier long term goal is to have a continuous integration
process once a week or so.

We will find out what will work best.

Hi Simon,

I'm not Pedro, sorry ;-)

I updated your patches and put them together in BZ 116680.

I did some small adjustments but I haven't tested it, as happens
with everything in OpenOffice, it takes quite a while to build and
test this type of stuff.

Are you referring to attachment 77407 that you added to the issue?

I am willing to try building AOO with this patch applied, and test
it, if that would help.

To apply the patch, put it on top of main subdir , then open a
terminal , change directory in main, and type :

patch --dry-run -p0 hunspell_1.3.1.diff

--dry-run fakes the patch application, and shows whether something
fails (avoid creating .rej files and garbage in the set)

If no problem occurs on the screen (do CTRL +C if e.g. some file is
not found), then apply it for true :

patch -p0 hunspell_1.3.1.diff

Nevertheless, the patch will perhaps not work as it : as I wrote
you'll have to modify it a little :

1) change directory in hunspell

cd main/hunspell

2) with your favorite editor, add the md5sum of the file Pedro
mentionned, in the makefile.mk file

If pedro provided the right md5sum, it should be a line like :

TARFILE_MD5=9ed97fce60a9a65852402248a6659492

3) the last part is the fils containing the list of archives to be
downloaded. You must add the line, to say the hunspell-1.3.1.tar.gz
archive must be downloaded at bootstrap

And it should work at the end.

I'll try to make some cleanup on my disk, and to find some time to
propose a working patch asap.

Although I have no recent experience building the software, I have
successfully built OOo in the past.

That's great :-) Which OS do you use for the build ?

Regards,
Eric

Hi Eric;

Hi Pedro,

I looked at the original patch for 1.3.1 in the Bugzilla issue and
it seems broken or meant for an older version.

Indeed.

Your patches are very straightforward but .. heck, we are so near
the release I personally won't run risks.

Ok no problem. Thanks for the attachment on the issue. anyway.

My intention was simply to provide a fast answer. I'll try to do some
cleanup today, build and test it, and to provide a better patch. Just
in case, I added more information to Simon (on this list), and if
someone else will try, she or he's welcome

Eric
