Those who are on twitter follow English accounts. The Hungarian facebook page has a growing number of users, so I create there regular summaries of openSUSE news and lizard posts. The latest 42.3 post is also there already :) Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscr...@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+ow...@opensuse.org
[opensuse-marketing] sources for marketing materials
Hi, I recall seeing T-shirts, posters and presentations based on this theme: https://news.opensuse.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/A3_13-825x354-300x129.png I found the presentation template on github at https://github.com/openSUSE/artwork but not the rest. I had a few 12.3 DVDs from SUSE Hungary to hand out and all were gone within half an hour. Do you know of any schools in Hungary using our 'openSUSE for Education' version? http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Education-Li-f-e Well, not exactly schools, but individuals installing openSUSE for Education for their kids at home. The Hungian SUSE office had a different approach: they built in SUSE Studio from all open source a solution specifically for Hungarian schools. Everything works from a web interface (mostly webmin and some custom development): IT infrastructure (dhcp, firewall, content filtering, etc.) and teaching related things (schedule generator, e-learning, grade log-book, etc., mostly from open source software developed for Hungarian standards by Hungarians.) More details are available on their website: http://huedu.hu/ (only in Hungarian...). 13.1 release party: it was this Monday, we were welcomed for a pizza by the Hungarian SUSE office. We shared our first 13.1 experiences and talked about many related topics. Personally I actively hate localized software, but was asked to collect info about the openSUSE localization process, so will do it later this week. I think everything you need to know should be on this page, but I might be wrong :) http://i18n.opensuse.org/ Thanks. The Hungarian coordinator is no more an active member of the openSUSE community, so I'll need to figure out how to officially replace him by someone else (luckily there are candidates!). Future events: this Friday there will be two conferences: SFD (better late than never...) and Virtualization Day. It's not the best situation, as I can't be split to two events even if interested in both. I'll present at SFD and maintain a stand with a demo machine. As 13.1 DVDs are not yet available I'll hand out our remaining 12.3 DVDs. Sounds good :) thanks for the update. Have a lot of fun! :) No fun here, I got a very bad cold and need to skip the events :( On the other hand, I'm already looking forward for next years events :) Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscr...@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+ow...@opensuse.org

[opensuse-marketing] release party in Budapest, Hungary
Hello, Yesterday we had our openSUSE 12.3 release party in Budapest, Hungary. We were the guest of the Hungarian Novell / SuSE office for some very fine pizza and beer. At first everybody introduced himself as many of us met each other for the first time. Then we had a long and lively discussion about the history and the future of the Hungarian openSUSE community. Of course there were some people claiming that in five years there will be no PCs, just some Android/iOS tablets :) But for the rest there were some really great ideas what to do to attract more for openSUSE. The primary focus will be strong presence at conferences, maintaining an openSUSE booth, and of course wearing the openSUSE T-shirts I received during FOSDEM, which I handed out yesterday during the release party. Participants were very enthusiastic, lets hope they will also be so for the rest of the year! I already do some of these, but there are still a few things left to introduce over here :) About the t-shirts, that's a good idea. However, at the moment, we simply don't have a decent (new-ish) openSUSE t-shirt design and thus only rather boring and old t-shirts (and only in a limited number of sizes) :( I must admit, that I like those old t-shirts. And others like them too. One of my t-shirts is the I contribute tester t-shirt, and the other one is even older. So no problem, if it's old :) It might be nice if the artwork people could help with this - maybe the artwork hackathon being planned for after FOSDEm can be of service. [opensuse-marketing] CzP @ FSF Hungary conference
Hello, Yesterday I was at the annual FSF Hungary conference. It's website is only available in Hungarian: http://konf.fsf.hu/ There were over 500 visitors from all over Hungary. This is traditionally an Ubuntu dominated event, but for the first time there was also an openSUSE booth. I started to organize it quite late, but still there were at least 3-4 people continuously caring for the booth. To draw more people, we had a number of interesting computers on display, all running openSUSE: a large gaming config with KDE and Steam and other native Linux games. There were a also a number of small machines: fitpc3 running Gnome3 and office apps, also a raspberry pi and a CuBox. There were many people visiting the booth, some only for the exotic machines, but most also asked about openSUSE. There were some technical questions (mostly video card related problems), and also the usual why openSUSE. We did not have any openSUSE 12.2 DVDs (which Kalman ordered a long time ago), but had a few 12.1 and 11.4 disks. Even those old disks found users as many people told us, that they have old machines and they don't need the latest and greatest, rather something what is not sluggish on old machines. I could not reach him for more than a week, so I'd like to ask you if you know the status of this order. Sorry, the web page is only in Hungarian: http://konf.fsf.hu/cgis/ossc As far as I can understand from the wiki at http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Ambassadors , I'm already too late to order them myself (the page mentions four weeks)...
