Group membership will prevent engineer from seeing queues to which engineer
does not belong.
In addition, you can assign group(s) to modules in
Sysconfig/Ticket/AgentModuleRegistration to prevent/assign access to that entry
(Status View) by group membership.

My Queue is intended for queues you control/can write to.

Re: [otrs] Try to restore OTRS

2012-07-27 Thread Adi Ariyanto
What I have done is like this..

In terminal I am logon to mysql
Mysql -u root -p
Then I am DROP DATABASE otrs and CREATE DATABASE otrs then try to restore
again, no error, the ticket is also restore, I don't know if my way is safe or
not..

But for your information
In my new linux machine I am just install apache, mysql and other dependency to
install OTRS, but I am not yet run /otrs/installer.pl, I think in this
condition the database just contain basic mysql database, because otrs database
not yet created.

Well, did you check the database on the target machine? Does it contain tables?
If so, delete them. As explained, the backup SQL should take care of this,
but... also check if there are sufficient rights to write to the database and
alter / drop tables for the database user.
Both I am use OTRS backup and restore tools
I am backup with this command /opt/otrs/scripts#./backup.pl -d /var/backup_otrs

Then I try to restore to another otrs machine with this command

Your SQL dump probably contains CREATE TABLE directives without DROP TABLE,

CREATE TABLE `tablename`

directives and put

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `tablename`;

above them. You could also simply use

DROP DATABASE databasename;

and

CREATE DATABASE databasename;

(all from the mysql command shell) to create an empry database

but this is only recommended if your SQL dump includes the neccesary
information about collation, character set etc.

./backup.pl -d /backup/

But I got ERROR: No Such directory: /backup/

I google and found an post that said backup.pl not work on debian, my OTRS run
on Debian, then I try install OTRS on CentOS then I try run backup.pl but found
the same error.

What I have try

1. Try to change group permission (chown)

a. On Debian : chown otrs www-data /backup/

b.On CentOS : chown otrs apache /backup/

Any idea ?

The error message isn't related to the version of OTRS. It's a permission error.

The code that makes the error is this:
193

my $Directory = $Opts{d}/$Y-$M-$D . _ . $h-$m;

194

if ( !mkdir($Directory) ) {

195

print STDERR ERROR: Can't create directory: $Directory: $!\n;

196

exit 1;

197

}

So, if *you* can't mkdir backup/2012-07-25_17-05, then neither can OTRS.

[otrs] Question on Installing OTRS

2012-07-16 Thread Adi Ariyanto
Hi, I would to know the general step on installing OTRS, I have install my
Debian Linux and OTRS with detail partition below :
root@itsupport:~# df -h
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 323M  279M   28M  91% /
tmpfs 502M 0  502M   0% /lib/init/rw
udev  497M  116K  497M   1% /dev
tmpfs 502M 0  502M   0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda9 7.8G  146M  7.3G   2% /home
/dev/sda8 368M   11M  339M   3% /tmp
/dev/sda5 7.4G  722M  6.3G  11% /usr
/dev/sda6 2.8G  324M  2.3G  13% /var

I got stuck when found my root partition already 91%, does anyone have the same
problem like me ?
Can I install OTRS not in root partition ? but in home partition ?
Can I resize the root partition size use free space from home partition ?

Thank you

The rpm installs in /opt, so it could be in a separate partition, but
that probably doesn't solve your problem.

If you want to try OTRS, using the workaround suggested by Gerald, for
example, should work, but needs an install from source. However, I
wouldn't put a server in production like that.

 Can I resize the root partition size use free space from home partition ?

That is feasible, but bears a certain amount of risk.
