[otrs] Different Customer Theme based on Group

customers based on group information, that is, according to each company a
customer belongs to, a different customer.pl should be displayed.

I haven't really taken into account teh stuff with mod_perl... You're
right... The problem such hosting style tends to be considerable more
expensive as compared to the traditional ones.

 In order to get the best performance out of OTRS it needs config changes to
 Apache and to have mod_perl installed. You would be better off looking for a
 hosting provider that gives you your own custom linux platform/virtual
 server (ala slicehost* style) - a simple hosting package would not suffice
 for hosting OTRS.

point is, there are Cron jobs which need to be performed... but my host
won't allow me to move around with server configurations How could I
proceed?

That seems to be a problem with your database connection. Ensure the 'otrs'
user has appropriate access to the database.

Remember that by default the 'otrs' user has its password as 'hot'.

Hello, man!

I've come across this issued upon trying to install that on my WAMP
environment. That's because the default OTRS log mode is SysLog, which
would fine if it was a LAMP system.

You should add the following lines to you Config.pm


#  #

# fs root directory

#  #

$Self-{'LogModule::LogFile'} = 'C:\otrs\otrs.log';

$Self-{'LogModule'} = 'Kernel::System::Log::File';
That will change this default behavior. That should work, or at least yield
some other kind of error! :P

At the time I couldn't use the provided installer package, because I already
had both Apache and MySQL running on my server.

Hello,

To do that, you must create your own company theme and change the
corresponding css and .dtl files. That's no hard task. Refer the the Admin
and Developer OTRS Manual. There's comprehensive information on such topics
in there.

Still, some companies provide out-of-box themes for installation. But
they're really rare. The best thing you do is to write your own! :)

You know, my customer are very wary They would still get the mail

 Kernel::System::Ticket - sub TicketSubjectBuild.

 In a first approach we removed the ticket number completely from the
 subject and put it in the signature (OTRS_TICKET_TicketNumber). But it
 proved better to keep the ticket number in the subject and just put it
 at the end - for the customers the viruses where everywhere ;-)

[otrs] Delay before sending e-mail

Hello, Everyone!

I've installed OTRS on a Debian-based Linux Distro and, fortunately,
everythings goes okay (so far), except for a delay I get when performing an
operation which relies on e-mail sending functionality, like answering a
customer ticket. I run it on a MS Exchange Server, in an intranet.

I think OTRS might be performing some kind of checking before actually
sending the mail. If that's the case, what would that be? Have you ever
experienced that?

What do you really mean by delay, btw? Are we talking seconds, minutes
or hours here?

Actually that's not a rally substancial delay The page stops
responding for 1 minute or so, then it does the job. But that's far more
time as compared to what the staff would consider as an appropriate time for
such a simple action.

 spooled locally? Are you connecting directly to the MS Exchange Server
 or going through SMTP running at localhost as well? If you know the SMTP

Well, I eventually figured out what was going on

In the installation directory there's a file named RELEASE, which had been
left untouched when upgrading the system. After replace this file with the
new RELEASE file (from version 2.2.3), everything went okay.

- Execution of database scripts (to 2.1 and then to 2.2)
- Replaced all files in those folders with the OTRS newer version;
- Issued: ./SetPermission.sh
- Fixed some minor configuration problems with Apache (wrong path in
otrs.conf)


 Then my OTRS was upgraded. I could notice that because of the many
 language updates I got and because the FAQ module was no longer present. But
 the version information on the lower right corner still says it's 2.0.4.
 And as I tried to install the FAQ module I got the message:

  Message: Sorry, can't install package, because the framework version
 required by the package (2.2.x) does not match your Framework (2.0.4)!!

 Has anyone ever experienced this kind of problem? Where is OTRS version
 information kept?

 Any help is appreciated,

Hello everyone!

I initially installed OTRS via a debian package and wanted to have the
newest version. So I've upgrade my  OTRS Installation, from 2.0.4 to 2.2.3,

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to install unstable packages in the server, on
the account of security issues due to strict company policies.

Also, I'd like a painless way of performing this upgrade.

Richard, you mentioned an upgrade package... Where can I find it?

 I believe there are packages for 2.2 in the unstable repositories for
 Debian. In you're running stable you're getting 2.0. You could also
 install from source.

[otrs] Bulk Action: How to Remove The Annoying Alert Box

[otrs] How to Keep E-mails in Mailbox

Hello, everyone!

I've installed OTRS in my company and the incoming e-mails get deleted after
they're fetched. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? The manual
doesn't address this issue and I'd like to keep a copy of all e-mails within
the mailbox.

Thanks a lot folks for the answers!

Having a separate mailbox is a good way, but I thought there could a way to
hack PostmasterPOP3.pl so that it could just leave any mail received
there.

Has anyone got to do that?

 In my system I created 2 mailboxes. Main one and backup one. OTRS is
 fetching mails only from first one. At the same time all emails coming to
 main account are forwarded [and not deleted] to the second one to have a
 copy.
