Thanks. Found it. After picking it, RP seemed to lock up to where I couldn't close it and had to listen to an advertizement. Re: Recommendation for a good speaker system
Hi, Ok. Sounds grate. Thanks. At 04:26 PM 10/15/2006 -0400, you wrote: Good day Kevin; As per a so called kick butt 2.1 computer speaker system, I recently purchased and installed a Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 and the sound and/or performance are truly astounding! Since I reside in the great white North, Canada, and Klipsch does not sell their computer speakers here for what ever reason, I purchased mine via E-bay. After searching various outlets in the United States that sell Klipsch computer speakers, amongst them Best Buy and Amazon, I found the price for a new set of these speakers to range from $99 (Best Buy - on sale at the time) upwards to $200 (this search having been done 2 to 3 months back). As for the sound and performance, whilst Klipsch home stereo speakers are typically known for their great bass, I was expecting their computer speakers to perform accordingly. And while these speakers do indeed have superb bass response, the midrange and treble are just as astounding! The set is a 3 component system, 2 plastic satellites and 1 wood sub-woofer, with the sub being a bit bulky (approximate size of 15 inches by 15 inches by 12 inches) and weighing +/- 20 pounds. Their is both a volume and pitch level control on one of the satellite speakers that are both easily accessible and quite responsive. I have a multi-thousand dollar home stereo system and these speakers have me tossing a coin to decide which speakers I would like to have playing any audio emanating from my computer (sly wink). Hope that helps, Dennis *** Hi, What do you reccomend for a really kick but 2.1 pc setup? At 11:56 AM 10/13/2006 -0500, you wrote: I also have the Z5500 system and like it quite well. Re: recomandations for a good speaker system
Hi, I have only researched the Gigaworks line from Creative. Just about all the opinions and reviews I have read indicate that the 5.1 and especially the 7.1 systems are excellent. Note that with the 7.1 configuration you will need an eight channel sound card to utilize it effectively. With 700 watts of combined power you will definitely rock your world. especially great for gaming but maybe 8 channels is a bit of overkill for MP3 usage. Also, the unit is cost prohibitive at #$400 US and up plus shipping. The complete package ways in at a hefty 70 pounds there abouts. hth...Keith - Original Message - From: DEBELI [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, October 16, 2006 2:27 AM Subject: Re: recomandations for a good speaker system Greetings for everyone! You can find these on line for about $235 or so, but be warned that the sub woofer is huge. --Warmest regards, --Rick Alfaro [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sunshine Sent: Friday, October 13, 2006 1:33 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; pc-audio@pc-audio.org; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: recomandations for a good speaker system i am looking for recomandations for a great speaker system, 5.1 6.1 7.1 8.1 or above brand, price and pros, cons, and what you think of the speaker system please let me know what you have and would recomand. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Is there a way to burn songs that you download from rapsody to cd? I purchased a couple songs that have a .rax extension, and I'm not sure how to get them onto a cd. I use Nero Express. Dana, Although I'm not the one who made the original query, thanks for this suggestion. It makes a big difference. You indicate you might have other suggestions for using RP. You need to burn .rax files with Realplayer. I'm not sure if this can be done with the free Realplayer Basic, or if you *need* to use the Premium player. RE: rapsody question
You need to use the cd burner in Real Player. With Real Player on your computer, hit the applications or context key while focused on the cut/cuts you want to burn. Arrow down to Burn with Real Player and hit enter. Real player will, slowly, come up in the burning program. You can tab down to select the type of disk you want to burn Music or data, and in some versions slect options like normalize etc. Tab down to Burn and hit with the enter key. Don't use the space bar, that defaults to play the last played track. Re: Real Player Basics
Adrian, I recommend disabling the Realplayer Message Center. Unfortunately, I disabled mine so long ago, I don't remember how I did it. But, in the Preferences tree view, scroll down to Message center, and see what you can find about disabling it. In the main player window, in the View menu pull-down, make sure Normal mode is checked, and everything else is unchecked. I recommend using RP for ONLY those media types that will not play in WMP or Winamp. So, under the Media Types section of preferences, make sure that only Real Media types are checked. But, unfortunately, since the media types selection list is largely inaccessible, you will either need sighted assistance for this, or you will have to go through the complicated procedure that Gene asner has outlined elsewhere. (Let me know if you need me to go through this for you.) Finally, I don't recommend using RP's My Library. Any Real Media on your hard drive, you can browse to, right click on, and, from there, choose Play, burn, or whatever you wish. As for Real Media streams, the Favorites menuing system within RP, is quite accessible, and I recommend using it in preference to any of the stream selection methods built into RP. Indeed, you can copy RP favorites from where they are stored on your hard drive, to some more convenient folder, and use them whenever you want to listen to an RM stream, rather than starting RP, clicking on Favorites, etc. If you just click on the Favorites shortcut, wherever you have moved it to, it will automatically start RP with the relevant stream playing. Then, you only need ctrl-P and ctrl-S, to pause or stop the stream, respectively. Well, that ought to be enough to get you started. Let me know if you have any specific problems. Blessed Be, Dana D. Although the units do not have a speech output they are pretty straight forward to operate with 30 channel presets, volume up and down, scan up and scan down etc. As suggested the best thing to do is to try one out before buying, and in that way you will be able to determine whether satelite radio is for you or not. - Original Message - From: Tim Grady [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'PC audio discussion list. Re: Real Player Basics
Hi Dana, Here are the instructions you requested. Again, thanks to Bob Batchelor for directing me to them. I've copied them from this RP webpage: http://home.real.com/product/help/rp10v8_ts/en/Screen_Reader_Information.htm Note, as you will see below, that RP indicates sighted assistance may be needed, but I didn't find that to be the case, not in this instance. However, RP also indicates that a warning message will appear requiring confirmation of the changes, but that didn't happen for me. There's other information about RP on this page that is alternately useful and dismissive. Here goes with the message center section: The Message Center delivers periodic messages of interest to the user. You may customize categories of messages as desired. Currently the Messaging system is not very screen-reader accessible and most screen-reader users will want to disable the Check for new messages feature to prevent the pop-ups from interrupting work flow. Here are the steps to do so (may require sighted assistance): List of 7 items 1. Click View Message Center in the RealPlayer menu bar to open the Message Center. 2. Click the Options menu on the Message Center. 3. Choose Preferences... to open the Message Center Preferences dialog. 4. Clear Check for new messages. 5. Click OK. 6. A warning message will appear. sound forge questions
Hi, I used Sound Forge 6 a few years ago with Jim's scripts for jfw 4.51. I am now using his s f scripts for sound forge version 6 with jfw 7. Jim said they should work. I have several problems. 1. the file doesn't play to the end and stop. it's in a loop. Does anyone know why that is happening? 2. If i have it set on play the selection, and i hit enter at the right end of the selection and then use my left arrow toselect the speech I want to cut, it plays the selection and the rest of the file after the selection. I have tried it on off and absolute mode. It seems to have two stop modes, but I can't find them explained in the read me files. Any help would be a0ppreciated...
