Live 365

2012-06-09 Thread Marsha
Hi
Is anyone using Live 365? I am using the pay version. Recently, I have
not been able to use IE with Live 365. Whenever I try to use it, I get this
message missing parameters. When I contacted Live 365, they said it was
because I was using Winamp, which is supposed to be useable with the Pay
version. It doesn't matter what player I try to use, I still get the same
message. I can use Firefox; however, it is much more difficult because the
only thing the links say is listen live. It isn't a Jaws thing because a
sighted person says that is the way it appears on the screen. Even the
Facebook link says listen Live. I hope someone might have an answer to
this problem because Live 365 is my favorite source of streaming audio.
Thanks for any help with this matter.

Re: Live 365, new Website less accessible?

2010-07-29 Thread Larry Naessens
Thanks John. I encourage everyone who used to enjoy one of the thousands of
stations on Live 365, but can no longer access the streams to write to Live 365
support and let them know how you feel about being locked out.

Unless they solve the accessibility problem, I will most likely and regrettably
be looking into another service for the streaming of my own station.
Unfortunately, cost has to be considered as a factor, but if a move is
necessary, I'm hoping to learn that Live 365 is not the only service out there
that will serve as a legal broadcasting avenue at a comparable price.

Hello. When broadcasting on Live 365 is it required to use their software.
If so, does it work with screen readers? If not, what else can I use? In
short, from start to finish, what should I use in order to broadcast
successfully on Live 365?

That's my choice because they pay expenses related to the Riaa etc and
that's the way I prefer it.

Thanks.

Some Live365 streams are encoded with the MP3Pro technology. This allows a
MP3 stream to sound about as good as a stream double its bitrate. there is
a couple of different MP3Pro encoders that can be lugged into Winamp. I
chose one with no bugs or reported problems and my Live365 streams sound
great. I get all the control and flexibility with Winamp with all the
sound enhancement of the Live365 player.

 Hi Guys
I have a subscription to live 365, partly because some of the
subscription fee goes to help pay the royalties. They claim that the
 live
365 player has better quality than the other players because it will play
some types of files that Winamp will not play. First, does anyone know
 if
this is true? Second, if it is true, are there any scripts for the
 player?
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer this question.

Hi, Marsha! Smarter heads than mine can give you more information about
this, but I have to say that my husband and I tried for a whole weekend to
set up a shoutcast station, to no avail. But we do have a station on Live
365 that was easier to set up (see our signature below, shameless plug!
Smile.) Anyway, I find Live 365 v ery easy to use as a listener.

Peace,

RE: Shoutcast and Live 365

2008-04-15 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Marsha, it's been a long time since I've used Live365, but I think this
is still an accurate summary of the differences.

Live365.com is a hosting service, which offers a directory of stations it
hosts. It is, if you like, an all in one solution. You can upload your
content and have them stream for you, or you can stream live to them from
your PC. They publicise your station for you on their site. Depending on the
plan you choose, and the plan the listener chooses, they may insert ads into
your station.

Shoutcast.com is a place from which you can download the Shoutcast software,
including the Winamp plug-in and the server. It is also a directory where
anyone using this software can choose to be listed if they wish. They do not
offer hosting to the general public however. You need to find that
elsewhere, either by running the server on a computer on your own
connection, or by streaming to a Shoutcast server hosted somewhere else,
such as http://www.ultrastreams.us or similar service.

So basically, the big difference is that Live365 offers you bandwidth and
streaming, Shoutcast.com as a rule will not and will require you to get that
elsewhere.

Personally, I'd go with Shoutcast because the end user, the one who this is
all for, doesn't have to log into any special service, and you are free to
widely publish the direct URL to your Shoutcast stream that people can paste
into a Shoutcast compatible player.

Hope this helps.

Jonathan

 Hi,

I used winamp to broadcast with live365 because they supported that at
 least
at the time. i used easy cd da extracer to rip songs for the autimation
 but
ccdex will work just as nicly.

I remember the really god old days when it was free, and before the
 lisencing crap came up.

I gave up because it was costing me like 30 some bucks a month at the time
to broadcast and I just couldn't justify it.

Have you looked into going with a shoutcast provider? The big problem is
with l365 that you have to be a member to listen now if memory serves me
correctly. It used to be that anyone could tune in if they knew the url
 for
 your station.

Just some thoughts to spin out there.

 Hi,

I used winamp to broadcast with live365 because they supported that at
 least
at the time. i used easy cd da extracer to rip songs for the autimation
 but
ccdex will work just as nicly.

I remember the really god old days when it was free, and before the
 lisencing crap came up.

I gave up because it was costing me like 30 some bucks a month at the
 time
to broadcast and I just couldn't justify it.

Have you looked into going with a shoutcast provider? The big problem
 is
with l365 that you have to be a member to listen now if memory serves me
correctly. It used to be that anyone could tune in if they knew the url
 for
 your station.

Just some thoughts to spin out there.

Hi,

If anyone needs a test server I have quite a bit of bandwitth, and would be

What amazes me is how there are bugs that introduce themselves that
were not in previous versions. Or maybe they were but weren't noticed

Re: A bunch of live Live 365 Questions

2007-02-25 Thread Kathy Szinnyey
Hi, David. Can't seem to figure out what email address you used to send
your message, so this might go out to the whole list, so please forgive me.
We registered for the 7 day trial to be broadcasters but can't set up studio
365 yet. I'm thinking it could be because we registered on a Saturday
night, but there's something about it taking one business day to get us set
up, if I read the literature right. In any case, we seem to be stuck and
can't configure Studio 365 yet. I also had a question about storage space
on Live 365. Right now we're set up for 200 meg a month, which isn't much.
Our music quality is generallyy set at 192kb, but I notice folks have things
set at 32 kbs. Does Live 365 let you send your material out at any rate you
want? Sorry, I can't think of the terminology here. Just wondering about
these things. Also, and you may not know this, can you access your station
and add material to your show from any other computer, so long as you put
in your own passwword, etc? I'm thinking about having several young people
from our community participate in putting things up there on our station.
Any advice you have would be helpful.

Peace,
Kathy

Hi, gang. My husband and I are setting up a station with Live 365 because
it's a good starter staion. I know it's not as advanced as others, but we
want to start somewhere. If anyone has used it or can point us to some
information that might make it easier for a blind person to use, could you
let me know?

Thanks much!

Re[2]: Shoutcast, Live 365, or something else?

2007-02-09 Thread djc
Well that's the easiest way to go or you can load mp3 files but what it
does with those is it creates a small header file and puts those in the
same folder as the mp3 file. If your me and you have like I do some 20,000
songs then you probably don't want to do the mp3 way. If they had put these
header files in it's own folder I wouldn't care but they don't. Each header
file is like 1K but it annoys me to have them all over my mp3 collection so
I convert my radio work to the ots format and that works fine. Yah it means
that I maintain 2 librarys and that's a hassle but I've done it this way
for years. Also it's extremely important if your going to convert music to
the ots format that your title and artist info is in correct order because
once your finished converting you will build your play list. I hope this
info has been helpful and if any one wants to hear my show you will be able
to hear the ots software and while Tom doesn't want people to advertise
shows on this list I believe he will forgive this transgression. You can
hear my show if your in the Unighted states from 9 to midnight eastern on
Saturday evenings. You can either use:
http://paulmerrell.net:9212 or
http://sc5.spacialnet.com:15284
which is Bill Sparks station The Legend. If you want to hear pure ots then
you want the Paul Merrell server since that's the server I broadcast on. I
put a loop up 5 minutes before the show starts to give people a chance to
tune in. Also Please note that this is a high bandwidth stream so dialup
won't work. I take your emails and msn messages for songs. I think I forgot
to give you the name of the show. It's djc's Jukebox and I invite all of
you to listen. We have a lot of fun on that show. Thanks and I hope all
this info will help you make a wise choice because the Otsdj software is
quite pricey but well worth the money I feel and that's why I use it.

Does this software require the use of audio files in its own special format,

I use otsdj from http://otszone.com and this software is pricey but it's
worth the money. It's accurate as far as the way it mixes and I feel the
 sound beats winamp hands down.

With the beta Winamp version 5.33, I did experience some problems with
the
library which I tend to rely on. I'm accustomed to control shifting into

the library then tabbing twice to my list of bookmarks. With the beta, I

found that I had to use the Jaws cursor to first click on bookmarks
before
I could tab over to access the list. I must admit though, that after
finding that to be the case, I rolled back to 5.32, so I can't say that
I
experimented much. I'm curious as to whether anyone else had my

It's suggested, but it will play mp3s.

What anoys me is that in all your music folders, it will put a small file
named the same, but with another extention next to every song. So you get
many many many many of these litle files.

It would be nicer if these files were in one folder .. some sort of work
folder. Maybe there's a way, but I've not figured it out yet.

2005-06-26 Thread Kelly Pierce

the premium player is not too blind friendly. The best approach is to
listen to Live365 stations in winamp. the stations can be bookmarked in
winamp. if you want to see track listings, you can launch the regular
player for the display of the playlist and listen in winamp, which offers
adjustable volume independent of other applications, like JAWS.

Robin, did you get Radio 365 or the VIP player. The reason that I'm asking
is because you don't really have to interact with the VIP player. You just
load it, choose it as your default player, and it pops up when you choose a
station from their website.

If you need a hand at finding the right player, just let me know.

Hi Robin. Have you tried using the VIP player? This is a different option
than Radio 365 and I don't really know what's different with it from a
techie standpoint. However it does give you the best possible audio
quality, and when used in conjunction with jaws, it works fine for me. I
guess your other solution would be to download the WindowEyes demo (which
works up to 30 minutes) and Radio 365, which works well with WindowEyes.
That seems a shade drastic, but it should work. You could also use
 Winamp,
WMP or Real, but then there would be no reason to pay the VIP price.

Hi Sun Sparkle. I have found that when using Winamp with Live 365 I have
 to
log in to the Live 365 service before attempting to play a stream from

For whatever reason, I have found that when using Real Player, I don't

to log in every time. That being said, listening options are always more
accessible with Winamp, so it might be worth the inconvenience of needing
 to
 log in.

One other worthwhile mention here... as a live 365 VIP member I can
downlload and use radio 365. The version of this application which has
just been released is quite accessible with WindowEyes, 5.0, though not
 so
good with Jaws 6.0. For non-VIP members, Radio 365 can be purchased for
 $14
and something. A demo is also available. This lets you access live 365

 to
make it work with anything but WindowEyes.

downlload and use radio 365. The version of this application which has
just been released is quite accessible with WindowEyes, 5.0, though not so
good with Jaws 6.0. For non-VIP members, Radio 365 can be purchased for
 $14
and something. A demo is also available. This lets you access live 365
 from
your desktop, but again I should stress that so far I haven't been able to
make it work with anything but WindowEyes.

Robin, did you get Radio 365 or the VIP player. The reason that I'm asking
is because you don't really have to interact with the VIP player. You just
load it, choose it as your default player, and it pops up when you choose a
station from their website.

If you need a hand at finding the right player, just let me know.

I thought that's what I'd gotten and though jaws can read parts of the

best.

Hi,
I'd recommend using the Live365 player, not Winamp. Fortunately it's fairly

Hi Stan, Peter here. I've tried the Player 365; I can get onto a radio
station okay; however when I leave the whole computer just freezes up; I
think that site uses Flash; I wonder if updating the FlashPlayer if prompted
would solve that issue. I use Windows 98 SE, Jaws 4.51, and IE 6 on a
computer with 64 megs of RAM and clock speed of 333 MyhZ. Please let me
know if updating flash, or removing it altogether, might solve this problem
of the computer freezing? Thanks.

Live 365 makes Jaws crash when leaving a radio station

2005-03-30 Thread Peter Russillo
Hello list; this is about Live365 and JFW; whenever I listen to any radio
station on Live365 using the Live365 player called Player 365 (I think
that's their default player), and then leave there to go somewhere else,
after getting off the site, JFW just freezes, so I'm unable to see what kind
of illegal-operation error came up. I use a Gateway G6-333 computer with 64
megs RAM, Windows 98 SE, and JFW 4.51 and IE 6. Has anyone had experience
positive or negative with Live365? Are they using Macromedia Flash now? Is
there some way to ignore Flash with JFW 4.51? I asked the Jaws list these
same questions but got no responses so decided to ask here. Please let me
know about any tips or tricks for Live365, including which is the best
player to use--whether theirs or Winamp (which I have in the machine).
Thanks for any help and/or info you can give me.

Sincerely,

Peter Russillo

2005-03-30 Thread Peter Russillo
Hi Dean, thanks for the hint; I changed to Winamp for playing Live 365;
however I get a dialog for sending an error report to Microsoft; the error
involves FlashPlayer; is FlashPlayer terribly important for most websites?
I've looked in Add/Remove Programs and it's not listed there; if I were to
search in Files and Folders, found it and removed it, could it compromise
things in the computer? Or is it better to update the FlashPlayer if asked?
Any info on this would be helpful so I might listen to Live 365 without a
lot of hassle; thanks.

Why do you use the bbc embedded player whilst there are much simpler
options? You can redirect it to either windows media player or real
player. Once you get the particular station playing in windows media
player you can then bookmark it and you never have to faff on the web
site again.

Larry,
I've never used the paid service so couldn't say for sure, but that
sounds like a self-serving approach on their part. I should think it
wouldn't hurt to try to switch to another player if you can. You may
find the Winamp interface easier particularly if you want to bookmark a
stream and if the quality is good for listening you should get a good
recording. I guess I'm one of those folks who just uses embedded
players when I have to, smile, and probably just the only site where I
do use their player consistently is the BBC site.

recording question with live 365

2005-03-01 Thread Larry N
I've signed up for Live 365's preferred member plan in order to listen with
higher quality. It sounds great until I record a stream using Total
Recorder. TR requires that alternative driver thing which may work well for
them, but I don't think a lot of it. My Live 365 stream recordings come out
distorted and somewhat muffled. That being said, I'm looking for new
software for the purpose. Any suggestions? Has anyone tried recording a
stream from a service that employs its own player using Replay Radio? It is
the use of a stream specific player which seems to create issues for Total
recorder.

I suggest your recording volume in Total Recorder could be lowered. I
don't have very discriminating hearing, but I've recording Live365 streams
with Total Recorder and not gotten distortion.

Larry,
I suspect that Dean is right and that changing the volume settings in Total
Recorder may help. However, you might also try playing the stream through
Winamp rather than the Live 365 player, particularly if you've been
successful with Total Recorder and other streams. I can't remember the
steps for changing players but it isn't that difficult. hth.

Dean, actually the volume sounded okay. It was the quality that was off...
more dull than distorted. Do you have to switch to the total recorder
sound scheme in order to record streams? Or is it possible to use your own
sound card?

Larry,
I've never used the paid service so couldn't say for sure, but that sounds
like a self-serving approach on their part. I should think it wouldn't hurt
to try to switch to another player if you can. You may find the Winamp
interface easier particularly if you want to bookmark a stream and if the
quality is good for listening you should get a good recording. I guess I'm
one of those folks who just uses embedded players when I have to, smile, and
probably just the only site where I do use their player consistently is the
BBC site.

Hi Tom. Quality from the 365 player is excellent. It's not the most screen

Susan, I can certainly do a quality comparison between Winamp and their
player. If when listening to Winamp I don't get the interuptions that I'm
paying to avoid, I guess I'll have the answer on whether there's a
difference. At any rate, thanks much for the thought and I know what you
mean about embedded players. In general I don't think much of them.

real player and live 365 player volume problems with jaws

2004-10-18 Thread Joanne
With Winamp and Windows Media Player you can raise and lower the volume and
Jaws' volume is not at all affected. But in Real Player and with the live
365 player the volume cannot be raised or lowered without Jaws' volume doing
the same thing. In fact, what's really annoying is when I start listening
to a file in either of these players; right at startup the volume lowers and
I have to every single time go into my volume controls and raise them to 100
percent. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi Joanne. If you like, you can go toWhitestick.CO.UK, and download the
Real Alternative. This will allow you to listen to streams that they say
requires Real Player, but with Real Alternative, you don't have to even go
into the Real Player. I hope this helps.

trouble with live 365

2004-10-17 Thread Joanne
If I log into live 365.com I am recognized, but I find that website
difficult to get around so I want to play stations from Bill Sparks' site.
As I said live 365 itself recognizes my user name, but when I go to play a
station on Bill's website there's a little recording that says I have to
sign in or register with live 365. I'd be glad to sign in on Bill's site if
I could find a place to do this, so that site recognizes my live 365 user
name. But I don't see one and don't know how to get the Sparks site to
recognize that I'm signed up with the service. Thanks for any input.

I installed the Live 365 player some time ago. What happens when your
friend tries to listen to a Live 365 station? Perhaps I'm not
understanding what you're dealing with. When I want to listen to a
station, I just hit the listen live button and the player comes up and
that's it. HTH\
