If you want the tracks titled, you have several options in the cdex
settings. It will go to the internet data base and look for track listing...

Hi Christopher and list: Afraid I don't really know where to go in WMP
(windows Media Player)..to make that magic happen! I just figured it would
save me from having to rip the whole CD..just to get two or three songs I
might want; I used to use Cdex; it was great for ripping just one (or
whatever number of files at a time that you wanted)..but I never learned how
to make Cdex title the tracks like WMP will! The gentleman who was talking
about using that feature is right; it puts you right into Windows Media..and
starts the ripping process.

You need to be online. Start CDEX, then insert the CD. Everything should
just happen after that.

First, before inserting the CD, start WMP and click on the Rip Menu button
and make sure Rip CD Automatically when Inserted is not checked.

Now insert your CD. If you need to, click on the Rip button in WMP. Tab down
to the list view. You should see all of the tracks for your CD and they
should all be checked. Uncheck the tracks you don't want copied and tab down
to the Start Rip button.

Yeh, use F4 to bring up the settings dialog and go over to the Remote CDDB

what the default is, but I use the remote DB freedb.freedb.org, the protocol

Yes, I think it can be done. First, you'll need to go into WMP and configure
it not to automatically rip the whole CD. Next, when you insert a CD and
bring up WMP, you can go into the CD ripping view and just select the tracks
you want to rip. I'm doing this from memory, but I'm fairly certain it can
be done. If you need more specific steps, maybe someone else who has used
WMP more recently to RIP CD's can help.

Hi list: Am wondering if it's possible to (when using Windows Media (or
maybe it's windows)..to rip CDs)..to just rip the cuts that you want, as
opposed to ripping the entire CD? Let me explain; then you can tell me if
this thing is actually using Windows Media..or the Windows utility; I put
the CD in the drive; then it'll ask me what I want to do; if I want to rip,
I'll choose )Rip with Windows Media..then the ripping process begins. Aw
but maybe I don't want to put every track on..just one; can this be done
using a screenreader? In my case, the scrreenreader is Jaws 11; the
Operating System is Windows XP Home edition. If this is something that
can't be done, no biggie..just wondering if it can be accomplished without
too much muss of fuss...thanks!

Re: CD Ripping Question

2009-12-01 Thread DJ DOCTOR P

High Tom,
I have run in to the same problem that you're having over and over again.
To tell you the truth, I don't really think that can be done.
When your computer is ripping a CD, it is using Windows Media Player to do
it.
I am told that you can use Winamp to rip a CD one track at a time, but I've
never tried it, so I don't know how true that really is.
But if you really just want just one track off of that CD, you can use
Switch to convert the .CDA to MP3 or some other audio file format.

My best regards.
 John.

Subject: CD Ripping Question

Hi list: Am wondering if it's possible to (when using Windows Media (or
maybe it's windows)..to rip CDs)..to just rip the cuts that you want, as
opposed to ripping the entire CD? Let me explain; then you can tell me if
this thing is actually using Windows Media..or the Windows utility; I
put the CD in the drive; then it'll ask me what I want to do; if I want to
rip, I'll choose )Rip with Windows Media..then the ripping process
begins. Aw but maybe I don't want to put every track on..just one; can
this be done using a screenreader? In my case, the scrreenreader is Jaws
11; the Operating System is Windows XP Home edition. If this is something
that can't be done, no biggie..just wondering if it can be accomplished
without too much muss of fuss...thanks!

Re: CD Ripping Question

2009-12-01 Thread Tom Kaufman
Hi Christopher and list: Afraid I don't really know where to go in WMP
(windows Media Player)..to make that magic happen! I just figured it would
save me from having to rip the whole CD..just to get two or three songs I
might want; I used to use Cdex; it was great for ripping just one (or
whatever number of files at a time that you wanted)..but I never learned how
to make Cdex title the tracks like WMP will! The gentleman who was talking
about using that feature is right; it puts you right into Windows Media..and
starts the ripping process.

Why do you suppose that is? the documentation on the Internet is a little

Hello,

I use Exact Audio Copy and LAME for MP3 encoding. Exact Audio Copy
can also encode with the lossless FLAC format and I rip music CD's in
FLAC. EAC scans each track twice and compares the .wav forms. If
there is not a match, it scans the track more than 20 times trying to
obtain two results that match the closest. In this way, EAC achieves
perfect or near perfect rips of CD's. Because the encoder is
external, I can use the latest versions of LAME and FLAC for ripping.
With CDEX, this is tricky to do and one is generally left with the
outdated technology.

With EAC rips, you will be satisfied with the results for your
lifetime. It is that good.

RE: CD Ripping Question

2009-06-04 Thread Cornell Ligon

Hi,

I would like to try EAC, because I feel other rippers make my tunes sound to
'bright' most often. I currently use JFW 6.2 Pro, Windows XP Pro/Media Center,
WMP 11 or fre rip.

My comp is hooked up to home theater using large 7.1 speakers.

Does EAC allow for conversions to MP3 or WMA for transprtation to my sirius
Stileto portable?

thanks in advance!

Best Regards, Cornell

Re: CD Ripping Question

2009-06-02 Thread Kelly Pierce
Hello,

I use Exact Audio Copy and LAME for MP3 encoding. Exact Audio Copy
can also encode with the lossless FLAC format and I rip music CD’s in
FLAC. EAC scans each track twice and compares the .wav forms. If
there is not a match, it scans the track more than 20 times trying to
obtain two results that match the closest. In this way, EAC achieves
perfect or near perfect rips of CD’s. Because the encoder is
external, I can use the latest versions of LAME and FLAC for ripping.
With CDEX, this is tricky to do and one is generally left with the
outdated technology.

With EAC rips, you will be satisfied with the results for your
lifetime. It is that good.
