there I can record what I'm listening too.

Thanks for help!

Hello Listers,

I've been trying to use the internet tv in windows media center. however,
it
doesn't seem to work well with screen readers. Is there another internet
tv

program that does really work with screen readers? I'm using Jaws13.

I really wish I could use the internet tv in windows media center because

online internet tv software

2008-06-24 Thread Josh
Hi,

I was wondering how I can search the archives, or can someone tell me some
good online tv software? I'm trying my hardest to remember the name of some
tv software that I mentioned awhile back that lets you watch some kind of
peer to peer tv. As in, someone has their computer hooked to a regular cable
or satellite system and they broadcast over the internet, and then you use
the receiving software to watch it by choosing the channel.

I use JLC's Internet TV with Jaws. Sometimes it is hard to get Jaws
focused
in the right area. Understanding the layout of the screen helps. I
 wish
 it
used the control tab or f6 to switch tabs. Instead, I need to use the
 jaws
cursor a lot to switch areas.

It's free but it installs a community toolbar. It won't work if you
uninstall the toolbar and you can not choose not to install the toolbar
 in
 the first place.

It does have system wide hot keys but you need to turn on numlock to
 make
 it
 work.

Have no other issues with Jaws or my computer so far.

It works well with JAWS and on the page it states:

Re: JLC's Internet TV was: accessible software to view 3000 television or radio stations?

2008-05-31 Thread Mike Pietruk
Folks

Before spending money on one of these programs or investing time in
learning a new piece of software, you may wish to visit

tv stations streaming worldWide
http://wwitv.com/portal.htm

Here, you will find links as to what tv is streaming which you can access
with players you may well already have on your pc.
You may still decide that purchasing or downloading one of the dedicated
players may make sense as a convenience; but just remember these players
are just organizing things for you and are finding what already is out
there.
Also, with one of these dedicated players, is someone minding the store,
so to speak, as links can and do change.
If no one is updating the database, then you could eventually have
problems.

Most people who try internet tv of this type end up disappointed as they
aren't all that likely to find the content they were hoping for.
The major exception are those seeking foreign language stations from
homelands as this is the type of station one is most likely to find.

Looking at the link I provided above, I note that there are 30 listings
from Greece, 41 from Hungary,
Korea (one from North and 25 from the South),
43 from China, Colombia 14, -- well, you get the drift.
So unless you understand those languages, much of what is available is
pure numbers of stations, not stuff you will be able to use.
For those fluent in a language, this could conceivably be a treasuretrove.

Hey, I made a mistake! The info in my message applies to Nexus Radio. I
haven't used JLC's TV tuner for a while so I am not qualified to give more
information. Sorry if this put a damper on your day.

That's kind of a brief explanation, after your long treatise on the cursor
use and such, don't you think? Since you were so verbose, in your
explanation, why don't you, at least, attach some importance, to the fact
that you were talking about an entirely different program? It seems, that
it would be common courtesy to do that, after you led some people off in a
 blind direction!

I use JLC's Internet TV with Jaws. Sometimes it is hard to get Jaws
focused
in the right area. Understanding the layout of the screen helps. I wish
 it
used the control tab or f6 to switch tabs. Instead, I need to use the
 jaws
cursor a lot to switch areas.

It's free but it installs a community toolbar. It won't work if you
uninstall the toolbar and you can not choose not to install the toolbar
 in
 the first place.

It does have system wide hot keys but you need to turn on numlock to make
 it
 work.

Have no other issues with Jaws or my computer so far.

 Hi Lisa,

You might wish to try JLC's Internet TV. You can get it from
 www.jlc-software.com/index.php?page=internet_tv.html

It works well with JAWS and on the page it states:

JLC's Internet TV is a FREE program for watching and browsing thousands
 of
TV channels freely available on the internet. It's
probably the biggest and most up to date database of channels ever, and
users are able to submit, rate and flag channels. And with
the new flagging and rating system you'll easily see which channels
 works
and which is worth to watch and our goal is to bring you
the best online TV experience out there!

 Hi everyone,

I had a sighted friend who showed me a program that allows you to view
 3000
television and radio stations around the world. I think this is really
 cool.
Does anyone know of an accessible software that would work with JAWS in
viewing many of these channels? He says that the program he installed on
 a
laptop computer is only usable with a mouse and not a keyboard. Any
 suggestions?
Thanks for your assistance in this area.

2008-05-31 Thread Mac Norins
Bob,

I wasn't trying to anger you and it never would have put a damper on my day!
It was just this, that your disclaimer, or whatever you might want to call
it, could have been very misleading, to anyone who might have gone after
the Internet T.V. thing, because you had described the process, quite a bit,
in the earlier message! If my point is unclear, my apologies!

Feedback On JLC Internet TV Tuner

2007-10-10 Thread Kane Brolin
Hi, folks. Having just reconnected to this list, someone might have
covered this in the past.

A friend recently sent me a blurb about a supposedly 100% accessible
TV tuner software program known as JLC Internet TV Tuner. This is
said to be completely free, unlike many other programs of its kind
advertised around the Net for at least $70. Has anyone used this? If
so, does it work as advertised? What are the drawbacks?

Thanks,

Re: Feedback On JLC Internet TV Tuner

2007-10-10 Thread Steve Pattison
This program is very accessible and it does work as advertised. I'm
using version 1.1 beta 6 and currently you can watch 2656
channels. The only slight disadvantage is that you have to use your
screen readers mouse emulation keys to navigate some parts of the
program. Also you should be careful of how much bandwith you use
because video content can use a lot of bandwith in a relatively short
amount of time. One easy place to download the program from is at
www.whitestick.co.uk/progs/internet_tv.exe.

2007-05-08 Thread Mr. Juan
Hi steve:
well for starters I can let you know since I got an invite a couple of days ago
and decided to give it a try.
a least with window eyes isn't accessible at all.
In order for me to get my juice name, I had to have my sighted wife help me
because none of the fields are read or labeled.
after I managed to sign on something starts playing allright but unless someone
clicks with the mouse the program doesn't work as i said earlier.
neither the arrows nor the cursor keys work here at all.
there are some good channels for what I could tell but perhalfs with jfw might
work better which I haven't tried with though by the looks of the program I
don't think so.

Other Internet TV Programs

2007-04-28 Thread Steve Pattison
Following on from my message about JLC's Internet TV program another
good, free program which lets you listen to TV and radio stations on
the Internet is Solway's Internet TV and Radio Player available from
www.theabsolute.net/sware/soltvradio.html. Here are some of the
features of this program:

Listen to over a thousand free radio and TV stations online over the Internet.
Record straight to MP3.
Listen to, or watch stations directly, without having to visit web
sites and put
up with their slow-loading pages and pop-up ads.
No additional hardware is required. This software supports both
Windows Media and
Real Video, so you can play most stream formats in this one program.
Watch video in full-screen if you wish.

One of the best shareware programs I've found for listening to TV
stations on the Internet is CTube! available from
www.eastbaytech.com/ctube.htm. Accessibility isn't perfect but
CTube! is useable with Window-Eyes. CTube! costs $24 US. Here is
some information about CTube:

CTube! is the largest resource available for viewing Internet
Television and Video
PODCasts , with over 1500 channels of TV, Live Video Channels and
Webcams, plus an Internet Video Search, with over 2 million
videos. Watch UNCENSORED news, music videos, education and
entertainment channels from around the world.

I don't klnow. My main question would be are these supported by
Real Alternative. These meaning the extensions some of the stations use.
 I
have used both Real POlayer and Real Alternative and came back to Real
Player because it wouldn't play my home state's radio station that I like
 to
hear in the mornings. jBtw just incase people are interested the program
 is
calle Music with Don Woods and it is on from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mst. You
 can
find more about it at www.wyomingpublicradio.org.

Not to many as far as your local chanels probably but I did find a good
variety for the us including some news and weather chanels and some movie
chanels. Canada was really impressive with many of the cbc chanels and
others. Australia had a number of chanels. I haven't looked at the UK but
with 1400 chanels in his data base you should be able to find something
that will entertain you I'm sure. On most of the ones I tried the quality
seemed good and my sighted wife reported that the video was clear.

I don't think there is a way to just stop a station. You just go on to
another station or close the program down.

There are stop, play, and mute buttons in there. I had to manually label
them with Jaws. They don't seem to be tabbable or to have keyboard commands

1400 channels, but are any of them any good? Most internet tv I've come
across has either been foreign language or really bad cheesey porn.

Jlc's Internet TV Program

2007-04-24 Thread djc
Ok I've now tried this internet tv program. It works well but whe I have to
do is to write click on the station I want to hear and then type w. I just
wrote to the author asking him if he might put in a hot key or just allow
us to hit enter on the station to get it to come on. Pretty much every
country is represented and there are lots of interesting streams to listen
to. As far as Porn tv I haven't found any at all. Some of the streams may
not come on if the station is down. I think this feller has done a great
job. Pick this tv software up at:
http://www.jlc-software.com
It's freeware. I've tried other online tv streaming programs but this one
is quite easy to use.

Re: Jlc's Internet TV Program

2007-04-24 Thread Scott Berry
I don't klnow. My main question would be are these supported by
Real Alternative. These meaning the extensions some of the stations use. I
have used both Real POlayer and Real Alternative and came back to Real
Player because it wouldn't play my home state's radio station that I like to
hear in the mornings. jBtw just incase people are interested the program is
calle Music with Don Woods and it is on from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mst. You can
find more about it at www.wyomingpublicradio.org.

For someone in the US, Canada, Great Britain, and/or Australia, which
channels that we know and love are actually receivable via streaming.
I'm guessing: not that many.
