Would it be an option to ccircumvent the whole problem this way:
1. Do a manual reordering of the images,
2. With that sort-order, do a rename.

This will create a filename sequence that's chronological, if you did
the job right in step one. Then you'll get it right by sorting on

Basically the base ring has separated.

The last time this happened I didn't quite fix it right which caused it to fit

capture time of the top one by clicking on the seconds and adding two,
clicked the change all button and the second photo had two seconds

So it should be a matter of selecting all the shots from the camera
you want to change - adding five minutes to the first of the selection
and then change them all - a two-minute job!

Thanks for the feedback, Frank. I liked the look of exertion on his face.

sponsor a local tour as well.

The following photo is the next frame from the camera, showing the very same

race but they probably reeled him in pretty quickly.

One of my favourites is two frames before the one you picked (sorry they're not
numbered, that's on my to-do list). They've just finished a sprint and the
guys at the front look knackered (notice there's only one from each team). The
last sprinter is looking back at the peloton for some reason. He's probably
wanting to get back into the cosy bunch riding. Or maybe he's yelling
profanities at his team-mates for not leading him out properly.

I definitely would have appreciated a more enthusiastic crowd but it was good

Convert them to contrasty black and white and you have a couple of shots the

 http://www.rouleur.cc/

Hmm, maybe I might reconsider my opinion of that first one. The second one
made it into the gallery, I just linked to it as a comparison. I was able to
make it bigger on that page because the gallery template on my main site is too
narrow, something I might address soon with a customised layout. It will
increase the download size though.

I might play with the cropping of the second one because the composition still
bugs me a little. It might look better on the wall if I print it reasonably
large, but I'm tempted to crop a little off the left. I had two reasons for
presenting it as it is; firstly I wanted to show that noone was in front of
these guys, and secondly I didn't want to trim out the background.

I am definitely wanting to play with BW conversions of several photos. I
didn't have the time to spend on getting a good conversion so I decided to
leave that until later.

The blurry front rider is not annoying me so much now, especially after I
realised that I liked a couple of similar ones in the criterium photos. The
sky would probably be a lot less distracting in BW (I see a couple of the
Rouleur photos have blown-out skies). So may be I'm still being too much of a
fussy landscaper.

As soon as I saw the subject line I thought of Julie Andrews (and that's
not something I'm comfortable owning up to). But obviously, you thought
the same thing.

Anyway - great light in the colour images and not too orange by any
means.

Not sure about the B/W one. It loses a bit of detail in the lower right
and ends up a bit cluttered. I definitely prefer the colour version.

There's also an option in the Catalog

The hood for the FA*24 may be of a different construction. This one
is in two parts, a ring at the base then the petal part. There's a
ring of metal between them that provides the bayonet function and I
think they screw together. Basically the base ring has separated.

The last time this happened I didn't quite fix it right which caused
it to fit a bit loose so I'm not too bothered about having to fix it
again. As I mentioned previously the first repair lasted a couple of
years but I'm not exactly rough with my equipment. But I don't think
this one will be under quite the same kind of stresses as your
repair.

Yeah, mine was just a single piece of plastic with the bayonet lugs (I
guess???) molded into the inner face of the base.

I very much doubt it. The trend is more and more towards educated
monkeys behind the counter; would you trust one of those to test a lens?

And, more importantly, what's in it for the shop? All it does is to
possibly deter a sale if the lens doesn't test up to par. That's extra
cost for the store, with no increase in sales. And, finally, what is
the store going to do if their tests OK the lens, but the end user
still discovers some problem? That's going to be worse for customer
relations than blaming the manufacturer.

 Von: Bran Everseeking bran.everseek...@sasktel.net
Betreff: a Pentax article in a daily read blog

 http://photocritic.org/the-case-for-pentax/

 not a bad article

Hm, it's more a kind of an apology to Pentax customers, although it does not
sound as that much of a recommendation. It's more a kind of advertisment,
including to tell Pentax to pay them for another round of advertisment.

And obviously they just added Pentax to C and N, even more than Sony/Minolta,
but ignored Olympus completely. Maybe that's right if 4/3 will move further to
Micro Four Thirds, away from DSLR to electronic viewfinder - but up to then
there's some more competition within this field. Since the author took care to
mention some of the 3rd party lens manufacturers, I wondered about the miss on
Olympus.

The article lacked most of a perspective how CNP are set up for the future,
considering e.g. the new Pentax mother - I feel that's more important than the
minor chance of a pro level mid format Pentax system to come, or not.

Very dynamic, and a shitty lighting situation. You have some real

I did not know whether this blog was related to any serious magazine, I

The level of the article might be sufficient for the editorial - but I
now checked the article which might have been the reason:

Anyway - great light in the colour images and not too orange by any
means.

Not sure about the B/W one. It loses a bit of detail in the lower right
and ends up a bit cluttered. I definitely prefer the colour version.

They remind of a day I once spent with an uncle when I was a teenager. He
was a pork butcher and I helped him to make the polony - that's polony as in
pork sausage originating in Bologna (he was Italian), rather than polony as
in 'discrete clonal amplifications of a single DNA molecule, grown in a gel

GESO SF Balfest

2009-12-08 Thread Larry Colen
I was asked to be the photographer for a dance workshop last weekend.
In exchange for taking photos I got free admission, nominally about a
$160 value. Mind you, I ended up missing out on most of the social
dancing because I was so busy dealing with stuff to photograph the
performances and contests. But I think it'll be good exposure and
maybe help me get the official photographer slot at other events.
It was interesting being able to use strobes, and to set them up the
best I could rather than just doing the available light or the AF540
on the camera thing.

Despite the difficulties I was having with my lighting, I think I got
some decent shots last weekend. As I said, one of my white lightnings
fried as I was setting things up Friday night. I had been planning on
bouncing the studio strobes off the ceiling, but figured that up in
the mezzanine would be a lot safer, unfortunately for various reasons
bounce didn't work well up there. So I had the working studio strobe
on one side of the room and three camera strobes (AF54 and two
promasters) optically slaved on the other side. Fortunately, with them
way up there, other camera flashes didn't trigger them.

I did a quick pass through the 2600 frames and put together a teaser
set of the ones that leapt out as keepers. Now I've got to go and sort
them to contests and awards, classes, social dancing, performances
etc...

The light is quite a bit above the camera, pretty much a simulation of late

What's interesting is the hard detail and precise exposure. These aren't

I was, up until today, completely unaware that dudes did
 pole-dancing too.

I knew they did it, but I was interpreting the word pole in
 a /completely/ different way. :-)

Seller seems to be pretty pissed of. But is this a valid behavior on
 ebay.com?

I have the right to cancel this auction at any time if the lens sells
through other media outlets, regardless of bids here.

No, I believe that to be outside the ebay Terms of Service.  I further
believe that ebay will go after sellers for doing it, but probably only if
alerted by a bidder or watcher.

I'd imagine that if someone handed him $45K, he won't really give a
damn what eBay thinks.
