I've also been bitten by a couple of spammers using one of my domains as a From: address... then I get 300 bounce messages in a day. Hasn't happened for a while though (fingers crossed), I guess most sensible admins have now set their systems to black-hole invalid addresses. It's not a problem for me, except that Ann's provider is too dumb to recognise that the From: address is not related to the actual sending domain so they've blocked the domain on the From: address. They should be doing a reverse DNS lookup and blocking emails where there's a mismatch. Yeah I've had to deal with this kind of crap at work a couple of times. A provider should never use one single parameter to judge an email as spam. Do you have an SPF record set up? That might help in some cases but it's really a long shot. Unfortunately you don't hold much sway over providers unless you're the size of ebay. Heck, even our own spam filter at work tends to delay or block emails that I send myself when testing web apps. Personally I think the whole email system needs to be redesigned from the ground up. But I don't want to be the poor sucker who gets to do it as no matter what you do you'll break some legacy system somewhere. I like their sound a lot, it is crisp, clean, precisely modulated but not to the point of being unforgiving. They are a nice contrast to my Consequence Audio Olivia / Images loudspeakers (D'Appolito design, SEAS chassis) which are built completely with classical and jazz in mind and sound warmer and more vibrant. To be honest, I've thus far ignored the technology of the headphones. I traded an old Kenwood KT-880 tuner for them when the content qualitative decline of my preferred radio stations really took hold and my BeyerDynamic headphones began to disintegrate (the softener in the earshells turned them into crackly, sticky goo plus the left ear cable had cracked. I listen to more radio again now but it is different styles of music these days. Around here you get two half decent jazz stations, one informed classical, one multicultural/alternative and all the rest is either news or heavy rotation elevator / charts pop / oldie but gooey / whatnot. In fact the leading local pop station Radio Hamburg calls a listener panel with every prospective new track (nothing that's never been Top 10 either), they never replace more than 30 and never play more than 180 tracks in any given month. And their jingle is More diverstiy - can you believe that? Re: Ultra-wide zooms
Hi there, I have tested DA15 Limited vs DA14 some time ago (wrote a review). Many have said that DA14 is better simply because it is a stop faster. Me personally, I would avoid it at f/2.8 unless absolutely necessary. Test it as much as you like - it's still soft and vignetting full open. At f/4 it's much better and outperforms DA15 Limited a bit. At f/5.6 there was no difference between 'em. Is it worth to have a MUCH larger and heavier lens, that performs quite sluggish full-open? One more thing - I never use DA14 without a hood. Never, even indoors. DA15 Limited also needs protection from side-light, but at least the hood is built-in. The conclusion? If I wouldn't already own the DA14, I'd go for DA15 Limited. BR, Margus Adam Maas wrote: All the reviews I've read indicate a slight decrease in performance for the 15/4 over the 14/2.8 at the edge, which is consistent with the design differences. While the 15 is slower, it's also a far less complex (8/6) design than the 14 is (12/11) so it will remain less well corrected. The differences in focal length is very minor and won't have a serious impact on the design complexity. -Adam On Thu, Apr 15, 2010 at 11:31 PM, J.C. PESO: Yates Mill
Historic Yates Mill in Raleigh NC. They were having tours demonstrations. You don't get much of a visible water-flow except when they're first starting the wheel. When it's running they let just enough water through to sustain it, but at the beginning there's some overflow that gives a nice cascade before the flow overcomes the wheel's inertia. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jb_sessoms/4532375519/sizes/m/ K20D, Sigma 10-20 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: street photography

John F's comment is spot on, though - there's a lot of pseudy billshut around street photography. I agree with Bob. I photograph people who are interesting (to me) and who attract me for some reason or other. That they stand out in a crowd is a compliment, and a testament to their personality. Of course, I don't photograph people who are down on their luck. I don't find them interesting in the photographic sense and I don't want to benefit from their hardship. PESO - Folsom Lake
This was taken at a local lake. Even though we were shooting at early evening, the lighting was too harsh to record the entire scene well. Some of you may be aware that the K-x has a built in HDR function whereby it takes 3 shots to bracket exposure and then merges them together. So this shot here was taken that way. I held it still on a rock for the exposures. If anyone is interested, I did take another shot without HDR - quite a difference.
