Re: Just got my WP site hacked!!!!!!

2010-04-21 Thread Anthony Farr
I got the same process a moment ago. The number one sign that's it's
malware at work is that the warnings are anonymous. Official browser
warnings come in a coloured banner (I've seen both yellow and blue) at
the top of the window, IIRC carrying the browsers branding. Your own
AV / firewall will put its branding into any pop-up warning. I had to
kill IE with Process Explorer, because trying to close it manually was
a circular argument. Alt-F4 didn't even work.

I'm still working on my series of
 diner images.

I wanted a few photographs of diner interiors.  My
 Rotary Club has
been meeting at a diner, but we are moving to a nearby
 restaurant in
two weeks.  (Next week we meet at a church kitchen, to
 prepare meals
for a homeless program.)  I decided I should take
 advantage of the
disappearing opportunity an grab a few quick shots before
 the meeting
 started at 7:30 AM.

Since there are different types of seating areas in the
 diner, I made
this into a mini-gallery, to illustrate the various
 accommodations:

I think so, but am not certain -- I may have clicked something.

I'm back on the site now and not seeing any problem. So far, I've
glanced at "free photo software", "editorials" and "in the news",
all fine & no warnings. So I'm reading the NX-10 review.

I was hoping that wouldn't happen... Thanks sandy!

Just to be clear, the main page came up, you did nothing (didn't click
on any links), and after a few seconds your security warning came up.
Correct?

A question for K20D and K-7 owners

2010-04-21 Thread Miserere
Gey Guys,

While I'm waiting for my site to back up, I just remembered I wanted
to ask you guys something: Can you tell me how large the RAW files are
form the K20D and K-7? DNG, PEF or both, if you know.

I'm reviewing the nifty Samsung NX10 for my (hacked) site. It's a very
nice camera and uses Samsung's 14MP CMOS sensor, producing 4592x3056px
SRW (Samsung RAW) files in the 22.5 - 28.5 MB range (most are around
27.5MB), which seems huge to me. My K10D shoots ~10MB PEFs.

I thought I'd compare this with files from the K20D and K-7.

If anyone is interested in this camera, Part 1 of my review is up:

http://enticingthelight.com/2010/04/19/review-samsung-nx10-part-1-first-impressions/

Cheers,

You can file a complaint with PayPal. I did that once and got my money
back from them; it took some time to come in because they had to wait
for the seller's account to have a sufficient balance so as to take it
from them but it worked in the end. It was a similar case, too - the
parcel was recorded as delivered and I never got it. Dunno if someone
stole it from my doorstep or what. PayPal service is a bit of a pain
but you get there if you persist. This was PayPal Germany thought, I
cannot speak for Canada =(
Best of luck

I made my choice after reading Mike Johnston's comparison of the Big 3
"affordable" full-frame cameras:
http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/2008/12/sony-vs-nikon-v.html
(I'm viewing this as a replacement for my Pentax 645 film camera.)

There is, but it's a cheapo unit with a single glass element to
compensate for the greatly increased register distance it causes.
Crapola, in other words. However... I *may* get one anyway and remove
the glass element to create an adapter/extension tube unit for macro
work. Needs some research...

Re: GESO: In the Diner

2010-04-21 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
Thanks, Jack.

I just took the shots this morning, and I will go back and work on
them a bit more, especially with regard to the excessive highlights.

No, I did not use flash. I seldom use flash, for a variety of
reasons. This morning all I had was the internal flash, and in my
experience that works for filling in shadows on people's faces
occasionally, but not very well for shots with a lot of depth. I may
try to go back with my other camera and flash, but I will have to get
there early so as not to disturb the staff and customers. Taking
images without flash is less disruptive, of course.

I'm fed up with waiting. I'm going to make my own page for the exhibit
and link to that. At least Dank has it on their calendar; people who
search with a little dedication can find it, but no one's likely to
find it unless they already know it's there and deliberately go
looking for it. :(

Maybe. But, then again, I'm not selling stuff where I don't understand

If I sell you TWO swivel brackets and you tell me you only received ONE
