I did notice that the knob could push in, but didn’t jiggle it properly at the time. LBA, GAS, happy black Friday to me
I mentioned the black Friday deals at KEH and B&H. I was able to resist the K-3 III temptation, but succumbed to the DFA* 70-200/2.8 for $900 (with hood and caps). It arrived today. It is noticably larger than the 80-200 that John has so graciously loaned me for the past few years. It is also weather sealed, focuses silently, has quick shift focusing, and selectable focus ranges. It did not, however, come with a manual. I was able to read about the focus switch on the Ricoh website: https://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/products/lens/k/telephoto/hdpentax-dfa-70-200/ However it isn’t entirely clear how to remove the tripod foot. I twisted the “lock” knob but can only get the foot to wiggle, not come off. I may be insufficiently forceful, but I’ve broken things before by being more than sufficiently forceful. I tried to find a manual for it on the Ricoh site, but no luck. Black Friday
There seem to be some good deal on KEH and B&H at the moment (though one fewer than yesterday). B&H seems to have dropped the price of the k-3ii ($1600) and they have some very good deals on used ones. I was quite tempted but if I'm honest with myself the thing that would make the biggest difference in my photography would be to use the cameras I have, plus bodies tend to drop in price with time. -- Larry Colen l...@red4est.com. sent from Mirkwood -- %(real_name)s Pentax-Discuss Mail List To unsubscribe send an email to pdml-le...@pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

If you've got a mixer with a dough hook (or a bread machine) it's a little easier, but you can do just fine working the dough yourself on a flat surface. A fairly simple recipe for 2lbs or so of dough would be: 20 oz flour 12 oz water 1 sachet (1/4 oz) of fast-acting dried yeast 1 to 2 tsp of salt (can be omitted - I find 2 tsp excessive) 1) Put the flour in a bowl, and add the yeast and the salt to opposite sides of the bowl - too high a salt concentration can kill yeast. 2) Make a well in the centre, and add olive oil (if wanted) and most of the water. Mix well, adding more water if necessary, to form a dough. 3) Tip the dough onto a smooth lightly-floured work surface, and knead for about 10 minutes if using bread flour, or half that for regular flour. Re: OT: Shopping NOT black Friday or cyber Monday
Well, we won't be seeing their liquor store here in Raleigh. Spirituous liquors can only be sold by state controlled ABC stores. They'll have wine & beer I guess, but I rarely buy those. I don't buy liquor all that often, I think the newest bottle I have in the house is 5 years old. I guess I should explain what all the angst was about. I have two "pot-luck" suppers to attend in December for two of the camera clubs I belong to. I usually take a boring old Green Bean Casserole - big can of green beans, can of condensed cream of mushroom soup & French's Crispy Fried Onions. Dump the ingredients into a crock pot on low heat & by the time I go to my meeting it's ready. This year I wanted to do something different to celebrate finally having a kitchen I can cook in (and wash dishes in). My unanticipated, UN-budgeted kitchen remodeling project is in it's fourth year. While I was standing in the check out at Lowe's Home Improvement (to pay for the sink base that is the foundation of my new kitchen) I spotted a magazine of recipes & on the cover was "Maple Pulled Pork Buns". https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/maple-pulled-pork-buns/ That's the ticket! Made my mouth start watering just looking at the cover. Added the magazine to my checkout. The moment of truth is now upon me and I'll have to make the recipe next week. Time to start gathering ingredients, make sure I have every thing I need ... One of the ingredients I need is: *"2 loaves (1 pound each) frozen bread dough, thawed".* I wasn't able to find frozen bread dough at any of the local stores (Lidl, Aldi, Trader Joes, Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods) I frequent; not even at Costco. According to Walmart.com WALMART has it, but only at certain stores (except for they *don't* have it - see my original RANT). FWIW, I finally found it at Publix - nearest store is 15 miles across town. I also found out that Publix will be opening a store within a mile of my house on the site where one of the two local camera stores I frequent used to be located. All of the stores on that block were shut down so a developer can build a multi-story condo building. It will have retail space on the ground floor, including a Publix supermarket. For Sale (Black) Friday: Pentax 67 with 57mm f/4.5 lens
My old faithful 67 just doesn't get enough use to justify keeping it around these days. Looking for a loving home. $500.00 + shipping for camera body and lens. Includes non-metered prism as shown (it's obviously dented and apparently has a chip in the prism somewhere, but it can't be seen through the viewfinder and obviously doesn't affect photos). http://www.robertstech.com/temp/67-1a.jpg http://www.robertstech.com/temp/67-2a.jpg http://www.robertstech.com/temp/67-3a.jpg http://www.robertstech.com/temp/67-4a.jpg -- Mark Roberts - Photography & Multimedia www.robertstech.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

I was thinking more along the lines of whether any lenses or camera bodies were on your wishlist, but just slightly beyond your budget. For example, Godfrey reminded me that a 43/1.9 is something that I've wanted for years, and if I could find an amazing deal on a used one I might be tempted into enough financial delusion to pick one up. mike wilson wrote on 11/22/18 10:34 AM: "Earn" is hardly applicable to that transaction. Black Friday Pentax sales are announced
Just in case somebody is interested in buying Pentax cameras (or lenses) other than K-3, the Black Friday sale is already advertised on PF: http://www.pentaxforums.com/cat/deals.html E.g., K-5 goes for $599 until December 2, and there are some substantial deals for lenses. I don't know if there would be any additional deals posted later. Sounds like a great day. I'd love to see "Driving Miss Daisy," but I doubt I'll be in NY any time soon. When I was working at a NY agency we frequently worked on Black Friday. I remember threading my way through the crowd at full speed from 53rd and Lex to the Port Authority at 42nd and 9th. I think the tourists look at high-speed on-foot commuters as rude, but we just wanted to get home! Paul On Nov 27, 2010, at 3:49 PM, Daniel J. If there is a recession, you couldn't tell from this place; there was a line of people entering, and we could hardly move around on the main retail floor, below street level. I think that using the adjustment brush and painting in an irregular vignette in a few of the images would improve its appearance and likely satisfy more of the previous nay-sayers. :) -bmw -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Well, not "unanimously". Viewed as a group, I can see where it might be heavy-handed. But, taken individually, I didn't see any shots where it didn't work. I can see where a little more subtle effect would have more appeal to most people, though. But then, subtlety has never been my strong suit . Hey Christine - as always I like the way you see things! #'s 4, 5, and 16, particularly 16 are the ones that most caught my attention. Too bad you had a crappy lens that interfered with a good presentation of the images! ;-] Seriously, I really don't care for the psuedo-vignette effect and think it gets in the way of what could otherwise be real winners. Maybe it is just that the whole set is rendered this way - like sugar in coffee, a small touch can be pleasant, but too much becomes cloying. Not a Black Friday deal
I stopped into the Wolf Camera upstairs in the mall from where my photo-lab is located. The guy who runs it knows I shoot Pentax. He told me they were offering a special on the K20D for $899 - Body with battery grip & a $100 gift card. Good through Dec 31, he said. He also said they don't stock the K20D, so I'd have to order it. I didn't find that deal on their web site, but it might be worth asking about. They do show the K200D kit with a bonus BG3 and I'm wondering if he's getting the two cameras confused. I'm thinking about it, but not real hard. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

20mm on FF is, for me, the boundary between wide and ultra-wide. Having gone wider, I can't go back for some uses. I'd rather have a 17 and 28mm pair of primes than a 20-35mm zoom. Well at the very least you can use them. IIRC Canon cropped sensor lenses can't be used on their FF digi bodies. Cheers, Dave 2008/11/27 P. J.
