Re: GFM headcount thus far

2007-03-15 Thread John Francis

It's never necessary to load Zoom Browser et al. onto your machine.
The only part of the installation that you might have needed on an
old machine (one running Windows 98, say) would have been drivers
for whatver you were using to connect the camera to the computer.
It would have been possible to just install that piece, but it's a
whole lot easier to install everything.
With Windows XP the drivers are already built in, so just plugging
the cable in is enough. But that just makes the camera look like
an additional disk drive - you won't get any file renaming unless
you use a file upload utility. Zoom Browser is one possibility
(although I wouldn't let you load it onto my machine, personally;
in my experience it doesn't play well with others), but there is
a pretty good upload-and-rename interface in Photoshop Elements.

Can this rename a group of single files, ie some files not all in a
row, for renaming.

I have one, CKRenamer that i jhave on my PC that will do that. I'm
looking for one for the mac.

I need to beable to choose individual files, say 6-7 from various
areas of the list and rename the front of the file, keepingh the frame
number intact.

I'll bring a burner, although it will be a standalone unit (my PowerBook

I can do CD or DVD in the ibook

Don worked for Pentax for a hundred years or so. He arranged for them to
send boxes of gear for us to try out-- that's where I shot with the
