Re: GFM headcount thus far
It's never necessary to load Zoom Browser et al. onto your machine. The only part of the installation that you might have needed on an old machine (one running Windows 98, say) would have been drivers for whatver you were using to connect the camera to the computer. It would have been possible to just install that piece, but it's a whole lot easier to install everything. With Windows XP the drivers are already built in, so just plugging the cable in is enough. But that just makes the camera look like an additional disk drive - you won't get any file renaming unless you use a file upload utility. Zoom Browser is one possibility (although I wouldn't let you load it onto my machine, personally; in my experience it doesn't play well with others), but there is a pretty good upload-and-rename interface in Photoshop Elements. Adding Walt Hamler and possibly his wife. So we're at 26 including myself. I'm beginning to think they need to rename it the Pentax Nature Photography Weekend. g There are probably very few, if any, photography events anywhere with a higher concentration of Pentax shooters. The two times I've been to the mountain, NPW 2006 and the Camera Clinic 2005, Bill Fortney has been there with Nikon bodies and glass for everyone to try.
